In my opinion, La Crete Hotel is the very finest (small town, independent) hotel in Canada. In my current position I travel frequently and stay in hotels about 250 nights a year in Western Canada. Prior to this I’ve traveled all over Canada for over 40 years and have stayed at hundreds of hotels/motels. The simply sad fact is that when you travel a lot you learn to not expect much in smaller town hotels, but La Crete Hotel is outstanding on so many levels. It is clean, comfortable, friendly, respectful, courteous and helpful. La Crete is a Mennonite community and every aspect of these beautiful people is exemplified in La Crete Hotel. My first business trip stay here was 3 years ago and I stayed 7 weeks and this current trip was for 7 weeks also. I had a very comfortable room with kitchenette, again it offered me outstanding comfort!! I highly recommend. Five stars!

I just posted this review to Google for an extraordinary winter vacation experience that my friend and I have encountered.

What is beautiful about this place is the cleanliness, sincerity, grace, and honesty of the community that maintains this hotel. Any dark elements that arrive are quickly flushed out.

My friend and I have travelled to 50 countries between us and have come upon what is quite easily the finest hotel we have encountered. My friend, a retired business school professor, is mellifluous in his praise of what he considers the best hotel in which he has ever spent at least a night. He suggests it is like something out of the field of dreams. A winter wonderland in a hotel that is sure to lift your spirits far beyond the tribulations prompted by the covid virus. This is the moment to visit if you have the courage to move beyond covid.

Stayed here on business for two nights. This motel is very clean, spacious and quiet. I had a queen room for both nights. The room was clean, up-to-date and quite large. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room. Being that this community is so far north and somewhat isolated, the motel was above par in comparison to some major chains found in metropolitan areas.

It's close to restaurants, grocery and gas stations. 20 minutes south of Fort Vermilion, this made for an easy commute everyday.

There are a lot of rooms and 2 story suites. If I find myself back up that way, I will be making this my home away from home once again.

I stayed here for the second time on business and maintained my commitment to return for another stay. I stayed two nights and was met with a clean, fully outfitted kitchenette room. I was able to stop by at one of the great grocery stores in town and pick up fixings to cook my own dinner in the room. I had a ground floor room that had two queen beds, full stove, fridge, cooking utensils and dishes. The entire hotel is clean and well maintained.

The staff are friendly and very helpful. Again, this hotel is close to all amenities. If you require any lager or spirits, you will have to bring it in from Fort Vermilion because LaCrete doesn't have any beer/liquor stores.

This visit confirmed my first impression of this hotel as being a diamond in the rough.

Stopped in LaCrete for a quick overnight on way up north. Awesome big bathtub to soak in 😊 Hallway and rooms are very clean. Beds comfy with the perfect pillows. I think this is the only hotel so glad it’s in really good shape

Stayed for business and was one of the cleaner hotels that I have stayed in. Really good breakfast and we asked to start it at 530am (normally it is at 7am) and he said he will make that work. Large clean up to date rooms quiet would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. The restaurant beside the hotel has really good food as well.

The kitchenette room is great value and includes lots of utensils, pots, bowls, etc. for cooking. I stay here four times a year for work and would recommend it to anyone. It's usually right around $140/night including tax and is very clean and quiet.

I’m usually an optimistic person but reading the other positive reviews about this hotel made me have to speak up with the truth of our experience. My workmate and I had to stay in Le Crete because due to the fire evacuations the hotels closer to our work location (High Level) were all booked up. We got a room with a kitchenette (luckily because everything in the town was shut down our first three nights there). After the fist night nobody came to clean our room. I thought maybe if I put the please make up room sign on the door then somebody might clean our room... but no luck. The fourth night we put our full garbage out the door in hopes somebody would get the hint and clean our room. Finally they changed the garbage, but failed to properly clean the room ( not vacuuming, mopping, changing the bed sheets or towels). I believe it was somewhere around the 6th night that someone came and properly cleaned (maybe a different chamber maid?). I also did not find the front desk service particularly nice it seemed as though it was an annoyance any time we showed up. I had to get my breakfast at night because we had to leave early in the morning and when they switched desk people I had to explain myself why I was going to grab food at night an inconvenience. Neither of us slept very good due to the youth racing up and down the streets doing break stands and revving there engines. This town is not tourist friendly!!!

Martha at the front desk was amazing! She was so accommodating and helpful. She has no idea the impact she made on me for her kind gesture when I checked in, I do appreciate it so much. God bless her :)

This Motel is an older one and one you would expect in a small town. If you have to stay in La Crete this is probably your only choice. I would not expect much, except that the price is very high for what you get. It is pretty rustic. The TV was OK and the Wi-Fi was spotty at best cutting in and out. The bed is probably pretty old and on the hard side. The breakfast is just cold cereal etc., not too great. I did have a problem that the show tap was broken, but they got a maint. man there to fix it pretty quick. The main reason for the low rating is the value for the money. I would expect a little more for the money other than folding chairs.
