Casa Malca is celebrated for its professional service and luxurious amenities, with a clean beach and spacious, uniquely decorated rooms that guests love. Its location strikes the perfect balance between seclusion and proximity to local hotspots.
While the hotel's cleanliness receives high marks, and the artistic atmosphere is widely praised, some guests feel the cost is steep, citing overpricing and unexpected charges. Additionally, occasional reports of rudeness at the front desk and room maintenance issues remind travelers that even in luxury, imperfections exist.

We were beyond impressed by Casa Malca and the ease of traveling to Tulum with its new airport. It is very private and luxurious.
Value for money: as one of the priciest hotels in the hotel zone, our expectations were high. Compared to other properties at the same price point, it’s likely worth what we paid in low season given it’s location (towards the end of the strip and away from the rowdy restaurants and clubs). We liked the size of the room, its high ceilings, amazing art, and luxury bedding. I would say just be ready to spend a TON on food (NYC+ prices) which is likely on par with other places on the strip. We did not mind paying a premium for excellent sushi on the beach and we were not interested in a buffet or anything like that on this particular trip. The breakfast they include is incredibly delicious and artful.
Room tips: we did not have a beach front room but rather a family suite off a short, jungle pathway. Our suite was very private and spacious. The AC was very good. The room had two showers and two toilets which was perfect for our family of three. We are SO GRATEFUL for the upgrade!!!
Cleanliness: the hotel is apparently around 8 years old. The rooms and property are cleaned frequently. I’m obsessed with cleaning, and could relax on this trip because everyone else seemed obsessed with cleaning, too! Even the pool area staff cleaned off our poolside lounges before laying towels down. I saw the restaurant staff checking each glass for spots. That made us feel like they go way above and beyond. Bravo.
Huge thanks to the housekeeping, pool staff, and Ana and Alejandria at the front desk for their professionalism. We especially liked our chat with the F&B Director, victor. We really hope to see you again!

We are thrilled to hear that your experience at Casa Malca exceeded your expectations and that you enjoyed the luxury, privacy, and unique charm that we strive to provide. We’re delighted you appreciated the spaciousness and comfort of your family suite, as well as the meticulous attention to cleanliness throughout the property—it’s wonderful to know our team’s dedication made your stay even more relaxing. Your kind words about the food, especially our sushi and artful breakfasts, mean a lot to us. While Tulum’s dining scene can be on the pricier side, we’re so glad you found the quality and setting worth it. We’ll be sure to share your compliments with our housekeeping team, pool staff, and of course, Ana, Alejandra, and Victor. We can’t wait to welcome you and your family back for another unforgettable visit. Thank you for choosing Casa Malca!

Tulum can be a bit of tricky place but if you do it right it’ll provide you with a perfect adventure and to do it right I recommend two things: 1) rent a jeep or a car that is not low to the ground as Ubers don’t exist there and the roads aren’t well maintained 2) stay at Casa Malca as it is the perfect hotel from its location (secluded in the best beach area but 1 mile away from action) and the vibe of the place to how it’s maintained is top class. Tulum struggles with seaweed but casa malca has the best operation to take care of it and will have the best beachfront of any hotel in Tulum, the decor is sexy, the beach area and pool are specious and they have a very fair 50 hydrotherapy at the spa (cold plunge, dry sauna, steam room, jacuzzi) for the perfect reset. Recommend venturing out to the nomad and be Tulum for lunch (short beach walk) for the best tacos you’ll have

Amazing hotel, on the best stretch of beach in tulum. The beach is cleaned every day by the team to remove sea weed leaving the beach looking amazing.
Both restaurants amazing, pool and beach area is a chill environment with great food and service.
Lovely staff, amazing food, super safe. Great vibe!
Antonio at front desk and Luis at the beach were great and made the trip a wonderful experience for my wife’s 30th!
Thank you Casa Malca

We thought the hotel was beautiful, rooms were spacious (though dark/poor lighting), food was decent. The beach was stunning! Hugo was especially helpful and the servers on the beach were great. However, the concierge was worse than awful. Their poor communication and lack of accommodation ruined the experience.
First, the concierge confirmed our reservation at a beach club but failed to tell us there was a $2,000 minimum for the beach table until 2 hours before the reservation. I expressed concern since I had communicated to them that we just wanted to eat lunch and have a few drinks. They then assured me that we could switch our reservation to the restaurant, but as we were leaving in a taxi they texted to say that they couldn’t confirm the reservation and that we couldn’t eat at the bar. We were very hungry. They left us scrambling, unsure whether our party of 6 would have a place to celebrate a special occasion (40th birthday). This could have been avoided if they had told us from the beginning when we booked through them that there was a minimum spend that was so high.
Second, they told us on at least two occasions (before booking transfers, and day before transfers) that the cost for a regular taxi to the tulum airport was the same cost as the private van they arranged through their affiliated company. That is absolutely false - the taxi to the tulum airport was $110, not $200, which was the cost of the private van. When I asked them why they hadn’t honestly answered my question, they first said they thought I was asking about an suv even though I had written “regular taxi”. After I sent screenshots, they admitted the original cost information for taxis they gave was wrong. When I asked to take the taxi instead of a private car, they said they couldn’t cancel the private car. They claimed they didnt tell us about the price difference because the taxis can be an “uncomfortable environment.” As a guest, I rely on a concierge for accurate information so that I can make my own informed decision about what kind of environment we want to travel in.
Third, beware that you may miss your flight if the concierge books your airport transfer. My friend I was traveling with relied on the concierge to book her private transfer, but they scheduled it too tight and she missed her return flight. She arrived at the airport at 2:50 for a 3:07 flight. During the issues i described above about taxi pricing, the concierge tried to justify the fact that they did not give us an accurate price for taxis because their affiliated private car service is more reliable. However, not only was their private car late, but it had to stop for gas. My friend had to spend over $700 on a new flight because the concierge did not leave enough time (and their driver stopped for gas).
Throughout these issues, the concierge team members (including Andy) were defensive and refused to take any accountability for the problems we were experiencing. They talked down to me and were not accommodating. They even tried to pit me against the friends I was traveling with. This is not the service I expect from a luxury hotel. I will be back to Tulum but will never stay at Casa Malca again, and can’t recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of beautiful hotels in Tulum. Stay somewhere else.

I travelled at casa Malca over the Christmas period in December 2024 with my wife and 3 kids. The hotel is beautiful and well located in tulum. The rooms are beautiful although humidity is problematic and the smell never goes.
The service is ok but the front desk is the real problem of the hotel. They included some other room bills to our lunches (~900$ bill) and although the bill was showing a different room and a different signature, they still claimed it was mine to pay. The front desk staffs was very rude and it took me a long time to check out as they didn’t want to accept the obvious.
They then wanted to charge us a laundry bag we used to carry some wet clothes for 20$. They came to recover the laundry bag in the taxi as we were going out. I rarely write and can survive with average service. But I have never seen such a rude front desk so I thought I’d share my bad experience this time.
It's a pity as the hotel and location are great. But I find it difficult to deal with this type of behaviour when you pay that much money to go on holiday.

We were attracted to the idea of going to Pablo Escabar's old house so booked it to one of the restaurants, Philosophy. When we arrive we were told that there was a 2000 pesos each minimum cover charge (about ÂŁ77, $100). As we had just spent 30mins in a taxi from Tulum town, we argued that that should have in the confirmation. Some back and forth and 3 members of staff later, the manager agreed. Food was OK, no better than any family run place in Talum but cost 20x the price. For 2 light meals, tacos and a salad, 2 deserts and 2 cocktails we paid practically the cover. We then went out to beach, (which was a little dirty, we cut our feet on a piece of chicken wire) area for a walk. We were stopped by no less than 5 members of staff and quizzed about what we were doing. We were even followed around by one. So if you like mediocre, overpriced food, pretentious vibes and be treated like you're doing something by all the staff, this is the place for you

Dear Andreas, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at Philosophy did not meet your expectations. At Casa Malca, our primary focus is offering guests an exclusive and private environment centered around art, tranquility, and unique experiences. Access to our hotel and its exclusive areas is reserved for in-house guests to preserve this ambiance, which may not align with the experience sought by day visitors. While dining at our restaurant provides a taste of what we offer, it does not extend to full access to our property, and we apologize if this wasn’t clear prior to your visit. We appreciate your understanding of our concept and wish you the best as you continue exploring the vibrant and diverse offerings of Tulum. Your feedback helps us improve communication, and we hope your future experiences in the area are more aligned with your expectations.

We stayed at Casa Malca in November for the first time. It's situated in the best part of Tulum beach by far. It's away from the noise and the main strip of all the other resorts, at the more secluded end, closer to the protected nature reserve area of the beach. This made for quiet walks in the morning and evenings, right from our doorstep.
The room was outstanding. Just a few meters from the beach, with ceiling to floor glass doors, waking up to the sound of the ocean and stepping onto our private 'terrace' to watch the sunrise over the Caribbean Sea was an experience I'll cherish forever. The thoughtful layout of the rooms maximized the view, allowing us to watch the sunrise from the comfort of our bed on the days we weren't awake so early too!
The staff at Casa Malca were the true highlight of our stay. Their warmth and attentiveness seemed incredibly genuine which added to our experience. Every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure our needs were not just met but anticipated.
The pool also has an underground feature which is very cool. Makes for a refreshing change from the sea at times. The art work around the hotel is very interesting and fun to explore.
Breakfast is an experience in itself. It kept us full all day with a course of coffee and juice, followed by a fruit platter, pastries and crossiants, a small starter and then a full plate of our favourite Mexican breakfast - huevos!
Overall we had the best time in Tulum, the beach is probably my favourite in Mexico, so staying at such a luxury hotel added to the beauty of it all.

On the last night of our stay Thursday April 27th into the 28th 2023, loud music was being played past midnight which woke us up. We were scheduled to leave at 6am in the morning so we were not rested at all. We chose this resort as we thought it was more quiet and had less of a party vibe then others but we were proven wrong. We were also not notified that this would happen so we could have at least put in earplugs not to be woken up. In addition, the one day that we spent on the resort near the pool we kept being asked by the "supervisor" to order more drinks and to order tequila and champagne and more expensive liquor. We are not big drinkers so this was very irritating when all we wanted to do was relax and have a beer. There is too much hustling already going on in tulum and we didn't need it at our resort as well when we already paid good money to stay there. In addition, It would be nice to have someone help with bags to the main entrance upon leaving like they did when we first arrived. After not getting sleep the night before due to loud music, we then realized we had to carry our luggage through the sand to the entrance. The hotel grounds are amazing for photos and are well kept but that is really most of what casa malca has going for it. Once you've been there there's really no reason to go back with the huge amount of hotel options in tulum. The food at philosophy for dinner was very good but came with a hefty price tag. We had breakfast once there with a beach view and it was nice, but then our waiter chased us down for a tip even though we already left one at the table which destroyed the experience..... The room was kept clean and was comfortable and we did like that we didn't have to worry about no AC in 90 degree weather and had a secure safe to store our stuff. So overall if you want some cool photos with amazing art then stay here.

Dear guest, Reading your feedback allows us to keep improving and is invaluable to nurture with our teams. We are tracking the situation with the corresponding areas, as asking for more tips is against our protocols. Luggage support is at all times, so we are sorry you had to carry it. We will rigorously evaluate how our team is communicating and promoting our fine liquor selection, as at no time do we want you to feel uncomfortable. We are concerned about such an irregular situation in our service and we would be delighted if you could contact us with more precise details so that we can address these issues. I loved Casa Malca, from arranging our rooms, shuttle service and booking complimentary yoga with the front desk was just exceptional. They came out with towels when I stepped out of the pool. Quick to answer through Whatsapp. I have no negative reviews.
There is 24/7 patrol/security at the front of the hotel, so you cant get in without a room number/name or paying a day pass. So everyone on your property is a guest or has paid $$$ for access. I felt absolutely safe. Room was cleaned on a daily basis. I requested for additional supplies and an iron and it came quick! They will even call a taxi for your pickup if you are heading out. I stayed here 3 nights and it was amazing!

We just did brunch pass. If you go to the hostess outside the restaurant they will direct u where to purchase. We bought the one that was around $220 or so and that’s your minimum spend for brunch, you can use the remainder if any at their bar in the evening. I highly recommend the brunch it was worth it. They have more expensive ones for a day pass to use the beach beds etc but we didn’t get that
