We two nights and loved this experience: nice people, nice accommodation (well done guys, great job) and Simango our interested professional Zulu guide who shared us a bit of his huge knowledge. Will be back.

Amangwane is a basic, no frills camp. Not for everyone, but perfect for us! Vusi is a competent and considerate manager, also a great cook! We (party of 9 two families with grown children) went kayaking, snorkelling and of course to see the turtles. Snorkelling was great, way over expectations and acessible. We got a good view of Leatherback laying...

Stayed there to see the turtles and to photograph the Kosi Bay fish traps. The manager ensured that we had two great meals and the place is comfortable with a warm shower, which we needed after a windswept and rainy night out looking for turtles. Great location to sea the fish traps at dusk and dawn. The one problem was...

This simple tented camp in the middle of nowhere on the southern border of Mozambique you will find the real African experience. Being spoiled people our first thoughts were, what are we doing here. After a trip of 5 hrs. From Durban we arrived in this unspoiled area, where very friendly and helpful people are trying their utmost to make...

Really appreciate your review - I think you have clearly put across what Amangwane is all about. It's a getaway from 'civilisation'. The camp is basic with no frills, but we will always do our best to look after you, and hope that you will come to love Kosi Bay as much as we do. I hope you'll come again!

Amangwane was for my wife and I the best way to access and experience the wonder that is Kosi Bay. We spent two nights there and were very comfortable and inspired by all there was to see and do. We were able to walk from the camp and out over the hills down to the mouth through some incredible indigenous...

Awesome place to chill and relax. Beautiful setting, nice basic perm. tents with bath. Trevor and Luke are just extremely nice people and passionate about protecting the environment. They made sure our stay was wonderful. Great having beers by the fire in the evening! Attached pic of Luke surfing. Shoot me an email and I'll send the original.

Basic but well equipped huts for sleeping had hot showers and comfy beds. Communal dining around a fantastic fire encourages people to chat and there's plenty of drinks on an honesty bar basis. We had two interesting tour kayaking, snorkelling and then across the lakes to a village and then to the turtle beaches. We didn't expect to see anything...

Amangwane is a great place. We stayed here two nights while on a "safari" trip with a group of three other families. The lodges were perfect, rustic tented lodges with ensuite bathrooms. Hot water and electricity are limited, no wifi, but this is a place to relax and unwind, to get close to nature. The restaurant is a great place...

We spent two nights here during a break from a safari with 17 people from around the world. We all agree that everyone had an awesome time! The chalets are basic, but nice. The staff was fantastic. We really enjoyed hanging out with Trevor, Luke, & their staff. The beach was killer, with good waves. We also kayaked and snorkeled...

If you are going to stay here, be prepared. It is basic. Only a few hours of electricity in the tents means not only no air conditioning, but no fan. It can be hot at night which can make it difficult to sleep, especially when you are not used to the heat. That being said, it is well run and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our community camp is a rustic haven in the dunes surrounding the lakes of Kosi Bay. Situated just 10-minutes 4x4 drive from the beach and the stunningly beautiful bay with its incredible 'aquarium' for snorkelling. The reed chalets, which are very basic but comfortable, each have twin beds and an en-suite shower and toilet. This is a no-frills, non-luxury destination. We recommend it for adventurous travellers that like to get away from 'civilisation'. We offer DB&B or self-catering accommodation (the kitchen is communal). Activities available: snorkelling, kayaking, cultural fish-trap tours, short hikes, boat trips, turtle tours (November to January). ... more   less
