Close to the city and a great spot to start or end your trip to CR. At only 20-25 minutes, there is easy access to the airport. Breakfast is available for a fair price and was very tasty. This boutique style inn is small and comfortable. The grounds are very well kept and a pleasure to stroll around. The adjacent river includes a small waterfall and shallow pools to relax by or in. If you prefer, you can alternately cool off in the swimming pool by reception.
On a personal note, we had some scheduling issues with our return and they stepped up to help us though it. It meant a great deal to us and are very grateful for their help and hospitality. Outstanding.

My family and I spent one night at this hotel. It was a great experience. The hosts were very welcoming and attentive from the minute we spoke on the phone initially until we left.
The property is beautiful and the river running though it provides a true relaxing atmosphere.

My son is ready to return even before we left.

Our family spent 9 wonderful days here and I don't even know where to start. From the moment Julio picked us up at the airport, we felt at home. We were blown away by the beautifully landscaped grounds of the hotel. There's even a waterfall on the river that runs through it! The rooms and bathrooms are spacious. The fact that Julio and his family all speak fluent English was definitely a plus.

This location is 3 miles southwest of Grecia ($4 taxi ride to town - $6 for the red taxis). I even walked into town one day (about an hour's walk) and it was a great place to relax in the pool or just sit outside our rooms and enjoy the cool air of the morning or evening, in a quiet setting. The owners are very knowledgeable about the area and answered our every question about the area (we were on a "due diligence" trip to check out Grecia as a possible retirement location).

Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in the Central Valley. It is centrally located to many of sites of the area: Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens, Sarchi and Zacero and just 30 mins from the airport! We had a driver take us to a beach near Jaco for the day and it only took about 1 hour and 15 mins to get there, via the new highway to the coast.

The hotel has a coded security gate, which was nice. Free wi-fi that worked well! All in all, five stars!

A friend and I spent a long weekend at the Villas Escondidas after 5 days in San Jose. What a very pleasant suprise. Julio & his wife Maria and their daughter, Carla and her husband Nelson treated us as family. It was way beyond our expectations, from showing us where a restuarant was in Greecia to a tour of the Central Valley. They could not have been more friendly or accomadating in any fashion. Additionally the facilities are excellent starting with oversized rooms. The cabana & pool are excellent as well. I strongly recomend this to anyone looking for a quality hotel that is private with excellent amenities.

Our family spent ten days here. It is so lovely and peaceful, away from the noise of downtown Grecia. A cooked breakfast (choice of American or Tico) is included. This is a family run business and it shows with the attentiveness and overall concern for their guests' comfort and satisfaction. In addition, after only a short while you feel a part of the family. Everyone at the hotel helped me keep the secret arrival of my daughter from my husband! Mucho gracias to everyone for that! Definitely a great value and the BEST hotel in Grecia!!

Last year we traveled in Costa Rica for a few weeks. 3 adults and 2 children. By accident we found this place that turned out to be really lovely. We returned there a week later and were welcomed like old friends. Really nice rooms, a pool and a meal when you don't expect it.
A waterfall at the rim of the lawn makes it truely romantic.
We hope to return there one time.

We had a great experience at Villas Escondidas. Grecia has the best weather in the wolrd. The rooms are simple, clean Tico style and really nice tiled showers the bathrooms. Very nice staff brought us everything with could ask for and even brought out some strange looking, great tasting tropical fruit we enjoyed. There is a suspended basket chair tied to a high branch of a tall tree near the river where you can sit and listen to the river and all the life around. And yes, the chair has a cup holder.

Totally lush enviornment with luxury at very reasonable rates. We'll be back. Go there.

A gorgeous retreat in a lovely garden setting. Spacious, comfortable and fairly well-equipped rooms.

That said, there were some simple things that need correcting. Shampoo and a hairdryer should be provided [there was a hairdryer that could be borrowed]. There is a bedside lamp but nowhere near the bedside table that I could see to plug it in. There is nowhere to hang clothes. The hot and cold taps are reversed in the shower. There is nowhere to put soap in the shower. There are no shelves in the bathroom for toiletries. One of two downlights in the bathroom was not working. The main light has two out of three globes not working.

Villas Escondidas is not cheap by Costa Rican standards and it is disappointing that they have failed to attend to these details.

Offsetting these negatives, we had a lovely breakfast in an idyllic setting.

We found this oasis strictly by accident, and what a wonderful treat this accidental finding turned out to be. Our hosts, Julio and Maria were most congenial, the rooms were spotless and comfortable, and breakfast and coffee were wonderful. They were most helpful in setting on our way to adventures to the Poas Volcano, and to a sidetrip to the very pretty La Paz Falls. Would we stay there again? Absolutely. Would we recommend Hotel Villas Escondidas to other travellers? Absolutely. Thank you Julio and Maria. We hope to keep in touch with you via social media and we look forward to seeing you again on our next visit to Costa Rica.

Hands down the best place that my fiance and I stayed while in Costa Rica for a week long adventure.

Gated and well lit, the entire property sits on a beautiful 7+ acres of lush, green, and colorful landscape. The villas and pool are located on the top portion of a really cool piece of land that rolls down to a peaceful and secluded stream full of local wildlife. The rooms are incredibly spacious and the bathrooms have large walk in showers with HOT water, and good plumbing.

The awesome blue pool with a swim up bar and overhead waterfall make for a lazy day of barbecuing, chillaxing by the pool, or napping in the shade underneath a Tiki hut. Also great for some night swimming.

Close to Grecia, there are restaurants and stores where you can shop for food and cook in the full kitchen by the pool's covered lanai. It' a great way to save yourself some money. While we were there, the owners turned us on to some really cool "locals only" places where we could go explore and experience all Costa Rica has to offer.

Out of all the unique facets of Villas Escondidas, I would say that the owners (an awesome family of genuine people), set it apart from anywhere else that you might stay. Friendly, kind, professional, and knowledgeable of the area and CR in general, Julio, Izabel, and Nelson make this place special. We had originally only planned to stay there one night, but after spending a couple of hours with the husband and wife sharing some rum by the pool, we decided that there was no better place that we could possibly be. We charged our plans and stayed an extra night.

A truly unique gem that embodies the very idea of Pura Vida, Villas Escondidas will take your trip to a new level. We will unequivocally be staying there every time that we have the opportunity to explore Costa Rica in the future.

Thank you for making our stay one-of-a-kind and something that we will never forget!!!
