I just came back from a trip to the area, and stayed over for a couple of nights. This is a terrific little lodge, close to Hobbiton and multiple other hiking, nature, etc. activities. Rooms are incredible (we were at the top level suites overlooking an amazing view), and service is really great. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming....

Fantastic lodge with beautiful grounds, gardens, view of valley. Enjoyed two nights here, stayed in Equestrian themed Suite with balcony views at sunrise thru sunset. The service by the owners is excellent, the food exceptional. A very pleasant place to stay and relax.

We stayed at Lake Karapiro Lodge when we attended a wedding in the area. The hosts allowed us to check in early and then cam and collected us from the reception at 22:15 which allowed us both to enjoy the reception. The room was spacious and we laid out with a great view. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast the...

The owners of this fine establishment are courteous and helpful. The breakfast spread with other guests was lovely, and stimulated conversation. The public rooms were furnished with beautiful art pieces and tasteful furniture. The pool area was lovely, especially a spa at sunset. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were elegantly fitted out, and take advantage of the lovely views....

Stopped on off chance of a night in proper bed instead of our motorhome. Nicest place we have ever stayed at. Fantastic view of lake, large luxurious room, bathroom and shower incredible. Breakfast really nice and had a good long chat with owners who built the house themselves. I can't think of anything to complain about with our stay.

Amazing. My friend and I stayed here overnight whilst visiting Hobbiton in Matamata (just a ten minute drive away!). We had booked the poolside barn but upon arrival we were upgraded to a room within the house, which was very comfortable! The landscape surrounding the lodge is breathtaking, which we enjoyed from the hot tub that evening. Very sad to...

We found this place online late on a Sunday afternoon after typhoon Pam caused us to change our travel plans. The owners were delightful and not only provided us with a wonderfully comfortable room but we're also able to cook us dinner, which was pretty impressive with only 2 hours notice!. Dinner was delicious. I had garlic prawns on a...

Ann and Eddie could not make you more welcome. The Lodge is a treat for the senses. From the burr Walnut furniture, doulton china, silver cutlery, silk fabric furnishings, it is tasteful and luxurious for those who appreciate the finer things of life. The lodge is warm, comfortable, clean and welcoming. Great showers and good beds with decent linens. Set...

We expected more than you had. We choose this place for the view but unlikly they gave us an indipendent apartment without a spectacular view. There were two floor: the first was very cold and it was a problem to go to the bathroom, the other floor is nice but nothing special. The interesting thing is that the best rooms...

“The only possible criticism for some people is that most of the rooms have showers rather than baths, and there is also some distant traffic noise from the main highway, a km or so away, but this was not intrusive as given its location quick access to the highway was helpful when going out to shop, dine or sightsee.”

“All have nice views. We were able to have a look at the upstairs, more expensive rooms, but I think the downstairs rooms were just as nice.”

“Downstairs are spacious and comfortable but there could be road noise if you choose to keep windows open. But the air con worked wonderfully so no need.”
