We are so glad you enjoyed your visit and felt safe. I'll look into the issues you mentioned. Country hydro can be hard on bulbs and they can blow after we set the room for arrival. But a secure seat is more reassuring :). We would be happy to see you again.

We visited using a Travelzoo gift certificate which covered the hotel room, dinner and breakfast. It was a great deal and a very enjoyable stay. Our room was large and bright, with windows overlooking the falls and trails. It's in a quiet rural area, right on the Bruce Trail, and we enjoyed a winter walk through the woods. Dinner was delicious! We could order any appetizer and main course we wished. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. The dining room over looks the falls and there is a big patio that would be very nice in the summer. Breakfast the next morning was also beautifully presented and delicious, French toast with fresh fruit, yogurt and a scone. Coffee was great too. The only drawback I found was the tile floor in the bathroom was very cold. It was minus eight when we visited so the electric heater had to really chug to warm up the room. If you visit in winter, maybe bring along a pair of slippers. But that's a minor flaw in an otherwise lovely visit. We will return.

We wanted a quiet getaway to look at the fall colours and relax and unwind! This is the place. The room was very clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed! The service at the front desk and the restaurant was exceptional. We did the 4.5 km hike on the Bruce Trail and it was a little mucky because of the rain but really beautiful!
I have to give a shout out to the chef every meal was excellent. We had the beet salad and lake trout which was delicious. We also had traditional fish and chips which were very good, and don’t even get me started on the homemade scones at breakfast!!! A couple of suggestions my partner is gluten free and they did not have GF toast or pasta. The Inn says all rooms have a view of the falls but we were in room 203 and the sumac had grown so high it blocked the view. No worries we live on the water year round so did not impact our stay but ask for a higher room to ensure you see the falls. We will return.

We used a travel zoo special and this still wasn’t worth the visit. The inn looks very dated even though it’s not old. The service all together is poor. We made dinner reservations when we booked about 3 weeks early and we were given a different time and an absolute terrible table out on the driveway. Stay away from Wednesday as it is their wing night and I think every local is there Wifi is terrible. There is no service in the rooms. The air conditioning is ridiculously loud and only when you check in you are told that breakfast isn’t totally included. You only get a $6 credit towards your meal. I would not return. And you can’t access the Bruce trail from the property.

Hi AnnaDM, thank you for taking the time to review. I can see why you would call the Inn dated, as it was molded to be traditional. We did this because, with our family sawmill, we could produce our own materials. A modern glass and steel building would not look right on this site anyway, and using our own hand stained hardwood to decorate gave us further connection to the history, town and surroundings. So yes, the style is a tribute to older finishes. I am sorry you found the service poor, I know you asked for assistance with your WIFI. Normally we would follow you to your guestroom to assist in the space you were using the device. Because of COVID-19 this could not happen. We gave you instruction at the front desk, but that only connected you to the lobby WIFI service. As indicated, you have to do the process again to connect to the guestroom service when you leave the lobby. We have connected from your guestroom following your departure and verified 2 strong signal points and full 10mbps available speed. At booking we request a dinner reservation. We record what is requested while still on the phone and then print your arrival sheet and write the requested dining time on your sheet a 2nd time prior to filling. We do not change reservations once made without a discussion with the guest. However, I am told you felt your reservation was 15 minutes different that when you booked. Had you requested it, we would have been happy to move the reservation 15 minutes as that small change would not have impacted the evening. We use in-wall air conditioning as many hotels do. Our technicians assure us, the volume is the same as any other similar system. Yes, we expanded our outdoor dining to include the backyard off the banquet room. Most restaurants did this at this time. I am happy to say we did not have to rope off the parking lot and offer wood picnic tables. Against almost all odds, we found actual patio tables and chairs. The space is beautiful with full green foliage on the falls-cliff, lots of shade, music and wonderful breezes. Yes, this is technically an emergency fire lane (it has never been a driveway). As you can see, the addition has been quite popular with local guests and inn guests alike. Bob sends his regrets that he was unable to attend. If he had been there then literally all of the locals would have enjoyed a visit yesterday ;) Please check the Travelzoo offer and your voucher to see the provided information on breakfast. In both cases it says "hot breakfast for 2 included each morning (breakfast upgrades are offered)' so there should have been no confusion prior to purchase and arrival. But consider it for a moment. What hotel includes breakfast anymore? When they do it's cereal, juice and pastries. If they have a hot menu in addition you pay the full price for that plate as you are still given the included items. So you pay much more. Our included breakfast is fresh served at your table (this was not changed during COVID-19, we always did this). It comes in 2 courses with fresh made scones, preserves and yogurt provided first. The hot item (2nd course) included is Local apple, maple walnut french toast. If you want another item (listed at $12 on the menu) you get to exchange the french toast and pay only the difference of $6. Yes, we had the Bruce Trail moved one concession up to reduce bodies on the property at this time. As you indicated, we are busy enough. However, as the trail signs state, you are welcome, as a guest of the Inn, to use our trails to get to the Bruce Trail during your stay. It is a shame that you did not enjoy your visit more. It seems you spent half your visit writing your review in the middle of your stay. If we were able to resolve your WIFI issue by entering your room, if you had requested that we change your dinning reservation and if you had understood the breakfast information printed on the offer, then those 3 issues would have been easily solved. We can't apologize for makeshift patios at this time as it allows us and other restaurants to increase capacity while dining outdoors. After that we are left with air conditioners and the fact that we are busy. Well, we are busy because of the value, quality and service we offer. Perhaps you would consider another visit when this situation ends? You may find that more to your liking. All the best, Dwayne Hallman Innkeeper

We stayed here for 4 nights in July. The service was outstanding. From check in to check out, it was amazing. The view of the Falls from all the rooms is nice and there is a small balcony for each room. The rooms are large, with a small fridge, A/C, and a nice 4 piece bathroom.
With restrictions in place due to COVID-19 all meals were outside and one day of bad weather we ate in our room.
The food was excellent and we tried many different dishes. Service was great. We will be back again.

Have always LOVED this place!! Missed coming here while things were shut down, but now that they are reopened we plan to make this a weekly visit again. Although we are extremely cautious about dining out these days, we feel perfectly safe at this lovely Inn. Food is still fabulous!!! The service is as impeccable as ever and the extra measures that staff and management are obviously taking to keep us safe are so much appreciated. We have been back 4 X since their reopening and each visit was wonderful! We have dined on the upstairs deck with gorgeous views of the falls, downstairs patio sheltered by the beautiful escarpment foliage and soothing sounds of the falls in the background and even treated to 2 meals in their traditional dining room, complete with appropriate social distancing. Surprised at the negative review , maybe the lady was having a bad day, but in these difficult times, owners and staff deserve KUDOS not kicks for providing guests with a ray of sunshine during these gloomy days! Congratulations on your reopening and thank you for your continued excellence!!!!

Beautiful quiet couple weekend getaway! Calming peaceful sounds of the water falls as you walk the grounds, sleep and dine. Excellent attention to detail and attentive staff. We especially enjoyed how each room had a balcony that you can eat food ordered from room service while listening to and watching the rushing falls!
Half an hour drive to beautiful Blue Mountain, beaches, different towns, outdoor activities and restaurants.
We highly recommend this awesome place!

A wonderful place to stay - friendly and courteous staff.
We ate three breakfasts and three dinners. All meals were beautifully presented from a varied menu selection. Every meal was delicious and memorable. The service attentive without being pushy. We could linger as long as we wished.
Being located right on the Bruce Trail, we could go fof walks in the neighbourhood. But we also made day trips in the neighbourhood to see some of the wonderful falls in the area, and go to a local winery for some local supplies of wine and cider.
As far as we knew, being fully vaccinated was a necessity.

This hotel is in a beautiful area with the Falls and the Bruce Trail at its doorstep. The owners and staff are professional, helpful and go above and beyond to make their guests feel comfortable. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and we had a wonderful view from the balcony overlooking the falls. Because of restrictions, the restaurant was closed but meals were brought to our room and were delicious and beautifully presented. We will definitely book another stay in the future.

We stopped for one night on our way to Tobermory and it was a wonderful stay. A beautiful hotel and the small size makes it feel you are getting personal attention, and the front desk staff were warm and friendly. The waterfall view from the room was wonderful. We had the TravelZoo deal with the food credit included (note for other travelers – although the voucher says “Daily hot breakfast for two” it is only a $6 credit towards breakfast and it is not included). The food was good, the view was great. It was raining on the 2 days that we were there so I did not get to experience the hiking trails or amenities and I will definitely be back to try them. I would recomend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet stay.

Hi, thank you for the kind review. Just to clarify, the Travelzoo sales page says 'Daily hot breakfast for 2, upgrades offered a $12 value'. The confirmation email at booking says 'Daily hot breakfast included, upgrades offered'. This message is repeated again on your arrival email sent 24 hours before arrival. Only the printed voucher itself was a vague as the line you provided above. We have had they add the 'upgrades offered' clarification on the newest offer, but in all other listings, the message was clear. The first 2 items on our menu, Apple, Maple Berry French Toast and Seasonal Fruit plate with grilled cinnamon toast are both $6 each and can be covered fully by your credit making them the 2 included hot items available in your package. The additional items (Eggs Bennies, Omelets, Smoked Salmon, Canadian Break fast etc) are $12 items that are half price once your voucher credit is applied. I hope this clears up that everything is correct in the listing and was offered as promoted during your stay. All the best.

Thank you for the question. We provide a copy of the Bruce Trail loop map to in-house guests at the Inn at the front desk and in the guest room guide. For the larger trail map including the Walters Falls loop visit brucetrail . org to purchase. Thanks again!
