Hi, I am glad to hear you enjoyed our location. I am not sure if you noticed, but during your visit over the Easter weekend, there was a painting crew working on the main level rooms and upper hallway. Because of bookings and events it will take a few months to get through all the rooms. No, we have never moved the beds in the rooms and the uneven paint was not from a 'repair'. Previous guests had dragged their luggage across the wall leaving black scuff marks. The uneven paint was just to remove those marks between paint jobs. Though I agree the uneven paint is also not ideal, the marks were much worse than the fix. We have had a strange spring so far with weather swinging wildly between +7C and snow storms. This has caused a situation where hibernating insects from the surrounding forest are trying to find heat in our window casings. Having outside doors from the room patios makes this situation worse. Housekeeping is removing the bugs as they clean the rooms and again prior to arrival as the cookies and TVs are set for each guest. I am sorry to say the insects continue to invade after check-in when we do not have access to keep on top of them. This is a short-lived issue that is caused by the season and weather. We remain on the case and we are happy to continue to remove them throughout your stay while you are at dinner etc on request, I am sorry to hear about your mini-fridge. Rooms are powered off when not in use and should have been ready for your arrival. I will follow up on this. I am not sure why you have indicated that the breakfast message is inconsistent or misleading. For the package you booked our website states: "Replace the noise of the city with the sound of the falls. Includes accommodation, $30 dinner credit per person in the falls-view dining room and hot breakfast (additional breakfast upgrades are offered)." A hot breakfast is included and upgrades are offered. We try to use the same or similar wording for all promotion we do. The same page indicates the gratuity policy under innkeepers notes displayed when the page loads. Both of these situations should have been clear to you prior to booking. As you stayed on a package the full package was pre-built for your convenience. That included room, dining credits, breakfast credits, taxes, and gratuities. The point of a package is to have the details looked after for you so you can focus on the experience. If you prefer to pay as you go and control these details you can book at our regular room rate and these details will not be automatic, but at your discretion. I disagree about the larger serving sizes. Many restaurants that include the words 'casual fine dining' are more interested in food art than providing a substantial and valuable meal. As our rooms have fridges guests can keep their remains in their room for a late night snack. So there is no harm in being generous. Our servers come around to check on meals shortly after they are delivered. If your sides are ever not to your satisfaction, please say so and we will fix it right away. A nice place, rooms are a little dated, but clean. Dinner was good. If you don't enjoy hiking, there is not much around the hotel in terms of things to see. I highly recommend going for a walk to see the falls, it is lovely.

Hi JennyDeeDee, Thank you for taking the time to provide a detailed review. We appreciate your input. We actually do turn on the heat in the room the night before reservations to make sure the rooms is warm when you arrive. I am sorry you found the room cool on arrival. The units are thermostat controlled. Housekeeping fired up the unit and heard it come on - but did not ensure it was set high enough to run long enough to get the room to temperature. This is not a common mistake. I am sorry you experienced it. As you noted the weather was bad during your stay. That was the reason Amelia was running late as she has a long drive in and found sections of the road were not ready for travel. She took her time to arrive safe. As your voucher already gave 15% off your spa services and your package had 40% off your room and dining little things like coffee and additional delay discounts continue to add up. You seemed to understand the weather had caused the delay, you seemed to be glad to have more time for breakfast and your plans were not affected so the situation seemed to be resolved when Amelia arrived. I hope you agree. And yes, the extra snow came with a cold snap of -20C for several days causing this cement and steel building to struggle to get the floors heated. We had the system checked and it was not faulty. We would have to increase capacity to meet the requirements for that kind of temperature. A big investment for 6 or so days a year. All the rooms had the same issue so more floor mats was the only option for that day. We have removed heated floors from our promotion going forward and added the extra mats when the temperature drops. And thank you for the thoughts on the linens and stemware. To be clear, Ontarios Finest Inns is a collection of unique properties in the Province that offer charm and character as well as a high level of service. But they include 3 star rated facilities like ourselves. As a wedding and banquet facility for our community the cost of maintaining the linens and stemware for large celebrations would not be appropriate without changing to a 4 star, and more expensive, location. It would also end the discount vouchers that brought you to us. I think it is better for us to be a better than usual 3 star location.
