We loved the ambience and high- quality service of Tweedsmuir Park Lodge. All staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Our loft apartment was well-equipped and tranquil. Food service was exceptional.

A grand lodge. Wish I had stayed here but we did have a great dinner here and plan to return for grizzly viewing next year. Dinner was superb and up there with fine dining in Vancouver. View of mountains incredible. Lodge is elegant and reminiscent of a mountain version of Middle Beach Lodge.

Thanks Tim! Glad you had a fantastic dinner....and that you'd like to come back for our Grizzly Bear viewing season. Even though summer/autumn 2017 seems a way off, we already have some sold out dates, so I'd suggest dropping us a line sooner, rather than later, about availability. Hope to hear from you. Regards, Tim

We spent 4 days at the Lodge. The people were absolutely delightful, the service was great and the activities beyond reproach. The guides were very knowledgeable and went out of our way to make our trip one of the best . Highlights were the best petroglyphs ever with a four of the First Nations, Heli-hiking, fishing and riding the Icelandic...

You can't beat the feeling of looking out from the lodge grounds to the peaks beyond the Atnarko River, only to turn around and see the sheer rock mountain wall behind the lodge that looms beyond the beautiful main lodge on this property.

What a beautiful place, it is idyllic and feels so welcoming. The staff were amazing and the food was excellent. We want to return as it was such a lovely experience. We stayed in the Grizzly chalet which was lovely, but the whole property in the park was great. Only small complaint was that the rooms don't have blackout curtains,...

We're glad you had a great time Neisha! Yes, I'm the same as you, I need a dark room for a good night sleep. The triangular shape of the chalet roofs make it hard to put blinds on the top windows (we do have them on the lower windows though). I'll chat with Rebecca, Lodge Manager, if there's anything we...

We have traveled all over the USA, Canada and Europe and Tweedsmuir is now on our list of our absolute favorites. The spectacular scenery is matched by the most personal service we have ever experienced. Every staff member we enter acted with became a friend and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. We hated to leave...

Thanks so much Jim and Maxine! We appreciate your feedback on your recent stay :) We agree, Lodge Manager Rebecca and her team are fantastic! Yes, our scenery, location, tours are amazing, but it's the staff (who keep coming back year after year) that make us stand out. We hope to see you in the near future, Your new family...

Great place. Wonderful lodge with great service, awesome rooms/cabins. The restaurant is amazing. Great location to see bears, go fishing, skiing and explore the culture of the Bella Coola valley. About 40 min from the airport in Bella Coola.

Not inexpensive but good value for the money. Chalets are perfectly comfortable, well appointed and private. You can be as sociable as you like or not. The owner and staff are friendly without being overly invasive. The setting is beath taking. Can't really think of a single complaint. It was as good as we'd hoped it would be.

Stay in september rather than august, it seems you'll see more bears. Wake up early and wait on the shore of the river, it's the best moment to see bears. Don't forget that you must be there at 19 h if you want to eat (if you come past 8, it will be less easier.

Exactly Philippe! Our bear season is late August to mid October. The "best" time depends on the salmon....when decide to arrive is usually the best time ;) Thanks for staying with us. Cheers, Tim

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Home of the Grizzly Bears! The historic Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, set on 60 acres of private land within the vast wilderness of British Columbia's largest protected park, is the ideal setting for your wilderness adventures. Originally built in 1929 as a hunting and fishing resort, today the lodge accommodates those seeking out a more eco-friendly adventure as well as a relaxing refuge from the pressures of modern life. The surrounding environment is stunning. Rising above the valley floor are the majestic Coast Mountains, to the west is the largest fjord system in the Americas, and to the east the high Chilcotin Plateau. It is a bio-diverse and spectacular wilderness, home to the totemic wildlife of the Great Bear Rainforest. Nestled in the largest protected park in British Columbia, the Lodge is only an hour flight from Vancouver. Consistent winners of TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence and the Traveller's Choice award as part of their Top 25 Small Hotels (Canada), guests stay in private timber chalets on property bordering the Atnarko and Bella Coola Rivers. Thanks to healthy fish stocks, the Lodge is situated amongst one of the world's largest Grizzly Bear populations. The Canadian Tourism Commission has included Tweedsmuir Park Lodge's Grizzly Bear Safaris in their prestigious 'Signature Experiences Collection'. Participants enjoy the tours due to the small group size (maximum of four people) and the absence of man-made fishing channels. All river travel is on non-motorized drift boats, giving participants a more natural experience. In addition to Grizzly Bear Viewing guests can also enjoy; heli-fishing, heli-hiking, fly-fishing, Guided Nature Hikes, photography, First Nations culture, excursions on the inlets or even summer heli-skiing! Relax by the fireplace, enjoy a new spa and a massage, soak in the outdoor hot-tub, or simply retire to the lodge deck for drinks. Definitely keep your eyes open for local wildlife, including grizzly bears, which may lumber past on the lawn.
