Went up to Brownell for a week of fishing with a group of friends and had a blast! A great trip to bring the team together and unwind from a long summer. Communication with John, the camp manager, was prompt, accurate and he patiently answered all our questions - so we arrived well prepared for our week on the lake. The boats are all reliable and quiet new 4 stroke engines, tuned for perfect trolling. The docks and slips are spacious but in a sheltered bay, so even novice boat drivers feel comfortable launching and parking the boats. The fishing was....exactly what we were after - put the line in the water, pull fish out of water. Repeat. It works like a charm at Brownell. The facilities are top notch - clean, comfortable cabins with screened in dining rooms offering great views of the lake. The boardwalk connecting all the camps buildings is perfect for ensuring the lake and its fishing can be enjoyed by wheelchair-bound group members - something very rare in the remote wilderness! If we wanted to use our phones, we could have - but we avoided connecting back to 'real life' as much as possible while we were there. Getting to and from the camp was also a breeze - drove directly to the floatplane base and were flown directly to the camp docks, and we were ready to fish as soon as we landed. Our time at Brownell was time well spent and a break we all needed. We'll be back, I have no doubt. Thanks to John and his diligent team for an outstanding week of fishing and memories.

It started with the flight in…..the fun didn’t stop until we landed at the dock back on Deschambault Lake 4 days later. Facilities were excellent. The lake was easy to get around on and John was the best host. Even took my son and I out fishing a couple of times to show us where the big ones are. Fishing was fantastic. I’ve never caught walleye trolling consistently but that’s what works. We will definitely be going back to see all of the upgrades that they are planning and the non stop fishing of course. See you next year!

Four of us (my wife and my two girls, 7 and 9 and me) spent a few days up at the camp and it was wonderful! It’s a great way to “rough it” without having it be too rough. Flush toilets, warm cabins with kitchens, hand pump water and a hot shower! We explored the area and caught more than enough fish to eat and to take home. One of my girls caught mostly walleye and the other one mostly pike so they had a friendly competition. The plane ride out was half the fun too! Saskatchewan is a beautiful place.

Greetings, I just wanted to take a moment to share my experience at Brownelle Wilderness Adventures fly-in fishing camp and retreat. We spent 5 days and 4 nights at Brownelle Lake camp surrounded by the natural beauty that is northern Saskatchewan. The fishing was fantastic! The camp has 6 fishing boats available for guests and has recently upgraded to new 4 stroke motors. The 3 cabins at Brownelle Lake camp can sleep 6 guests each and boast modern amenities such as propane refrigerators and cooktops, wood stoves and there is even a hot water shower. The bathrooms even have “Flush” toilets. The cabins are large and have plenty of room to gather for meals and visiting as well as screened-in verandas for enjoying bug free evenings and sunsets. I saw something at Brownelle Lake camp I have never seen before at a fly-in fishing camp and that being guests in wheel chairs arriving for a week long stay at the camp. The courteous staff and guests, myself included, helped the 2 mobility challenged guests disembark the plane and as I was helping load up our gear to fly out of camp, I heard one of the guests remark that this was the only remotely wheel chair accessible fly-in fishing camp in Saskatchewan! I have to say that I was really impressed with the whole experience! I highly recommend Brownelle Wilderness Adventures and Fly-in Fishing camps! I can’t wait to go back next year if we can get a reservation!

Thank you so much for taking the time to send in your review. Yes, there are "modern" amenities but as you said, Brownell still allows every guest a true taste of the wilderness. Brownell has now changed all our motors to eco friendly 4 stroke motors virtually eliminating the use of oil in both our camps. We are wheelchair accessible but will be working closely with the provincial abilities council to make Brownell truly wheelchair accessible with upgrades to cabins, shower facilities, boat access and upgrades to our walking paths to accommodate wheelchairs. Making our facility accessible to all is our goal. Thanks again for your review and all of us at Brownell Wilderness Adventures look forward to seeing you again next year.

Cabins are spacious and well stocked with dishes. the propane fridges and ranges made it easy to keep and prepare food. I thought it would be much more rustic but was very surprised to see hand pumps for water in the cabin. The outhouses almost made you feel at home. Fishing and gear is great. heard they are moving over to the 4 stroke boat motors at Brownell and Kvampsing is already changed over. Nice and quiet on the lake with big lunker pike and walleye at almost every cast. There is existing walking trails and others that are being improved. Shower house has on-demand hot water system and is so refreshing. Would recommend this as a family getaway just as much as a trip with the boys.

Thank you very much for the review. 2021 was a difficult year because of the fires but we were fortunate to still provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests. The boreal forest offers so much more than just great fishing and we are glad you enjoyed your time with us. I have never fished before and I had a time of my life with my father in law and my two sons. Right from the time I was introduced to the fly in camp, the experience with the staff to book the trip was fantastic and provided all the necessary information to get started. When we got to camp, it was very clean, the buildings were in great shape, the equipment was in great shape. I am not an outdoors man, so I loved how everything worked and I did not have to fight with the equipment (goes to show the care they take in maintaining the property). Directions were provided on how to turn things on, to set up camp, and where to find equipment was all there. It was easy to just set up and just enjoy the experience. We loved the trip so much we are going back in 2022 with more family members. Thanks again Brownell and team for the great experience.

Thanks for letting everyone know that you don't need to be an avid fisherman...or fisherwoman to enjoy all that Brownell has to offer its guests. Our website outlines in detail how to prepare for your trip so it is as enjoyable as possible. Communication in setting up your trip is paramount in you having a safe and memorable trip. Having families flying in a float plane, experiencing the boreal forest in a pristine setting, heading out on safe adventures each day and because of the quality of the fishing being able to navigate the waters with ease is what we are all about at Brownell. Our guests treat the camp like their own and we appreciate the care they take. We look forward to expanding your group in 2022 and having new guests join us.

We went at the beginning of July with family. The pilot for the float plane was very comforting as it was my first time in a unit like that. The ride was short & sweet over some land and a bunch of different lake channels. We flew right into Brownell & it was this really beautiful secluded area. The boat docks were super easy to operate & maneuverer in & out of. Theres a nice walkway up to the cabins. Each cabin runs on solar electricity & propane, with little wood stoves in them. The kitchens are fully supplied with pots & pans & a bunch of extras. It really makes camping easy when it doesnt feel like camping. Fridge, stove, even had a coffee pot there. & the best part, a clean private shower house!!

Thank you Akura for your review. I am glad the entire experience starting with your first float plane ride went just the way you wanted it to. The private shower house with unlimited hot water is certainly enjoyed by all our guests after a long day on the water or after a day of enjoying the scenery right from the cabins front door. If you have any photos you would like to share please do. We look forward to having you back soon, John
