HI we loved it at Sandcastle. Its a great location, quiet and close to the beach but also a short drive to the great restaurants etc in Takaka. Steve and Hayley were so friendly and welcoming - even though our arrival was twice delayed by torrential rain. We thought there was something rather Caribbean about the colourful and quirky garden...

Sand castles was a lovely place to stay. Steve, our host, was so kind, accommodating and welcoming. Myself and three friends stayed here to escape the rain and found a little oasis. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, and the amenities offered kept us busy. We enjoyed the hot tub, yoga studio and ping pong table. Quick walk to the...

Two of stayed for four nights as were attending a wedding locally. Steve and Hayley were just great, friendly and helpful. The cottage was cute and cosy and had everything we needed. Didn't feel like I was staying in rental accomodation but more like a friend had let me stay at theirs while I was away, I liked that. Awesome...

Me and my 4 friends had an amazing time at The Sandcastle. Steve and Heather have done an amazing job at making it a homely, fun and quirky place. We particularly enjoyed the sauna, hot tubs and home grown apples that Steve brought over in the morning. Top place to stay, wish we could've stayed longer!!

Stayed here in March and the accommodation was beautiful, cosy and colourful. Gorgeous location with sea views and enjoyed the morning song of tui birds and bell birds. Everything I needed was provided for with the added bonus of the spa and sauna. Also a pizza oven that the owner, Steve, makes the base for. Great way to meet the...

Quaint, colourful & tidy Bachs, sleeping up to five (or more - there is one larger family Bach) with all the facilities you could need for a rustic stop over with surprising extras thrown in each evening all of which involved extra effort from the owner - pizza night, entertainment and firing up the spa pool for tramping weary guests....

We were met by the owner who was in dirty clothes and later put on an even worse jersey. Not an auspicious start. We had noted all the stars this property received but cannot agree. The trees and bushes were overgrown, the grass was long, everything outside was shabby, the deck furniture had to be cleaned before we could use...

Hi, I can only respond by saying we have had a fantastic season with great feedback from all guests. Our style of gardening is English cottage, plantng many New Zealand native trees to attract birds. Some Japanese features appear with much use of water. We do everything ourselves, so it is possible I had been planting trees by the pond...

We stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed it. If fluffy white towels is your idea of a good holiday give the Sandcastle a miss. BUT if you love nature, a host who cares about his environment and a lovely quiet place the Sandcastle is for you . We explored some of Abel Tasman National Park while there and...

Having visited five years ago, we were not disappointed. Same helpful and friendly owners. A longer stay would have been better. Pizza night around the new oven was a nice way to meet other guests. Highly recommended. We shall return.
