Guests at Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort often rave about the lively atmosphere, complete with personalized touches for special occasions and live music, though some mention that the entertainment can become repetitive. The service is generally lauded for its professionalism and friendliness, although there have been some hiccups with room service and reservations. While the resort's cleanliness and diverse pool offerings receive high marks, opinions on the rooms and value proposition are mixed, with cleanliness and aesthetics weighed against noise and extra charges.

Our room was an A+. We were in Building 26. The room had a Jacuzzi, King Bed & a swim up pool.
At Check in we were offered a VIP Platinum Club Stay upgrade for an additional cost. The additional cost was well worth it with the room we got. Although we would not upgrade to Platinum status again, (we didn't use the butler much). The upgrade might be for the person that is not familiar with the resort or one that likes to be waited on. With the Platinum you will get a private check in and out. A Butler comes with the upgrade. The Butler will book your dinner reservation, give you rides to and from to the restaurants, take care of your luggage to and from the rooms, Reserve beach chairs: the butler should be there to fulfill your needs without talking to a variety of staff. The Butler will be there everyday asking you if everything is OK, with the exception on his day off. Also Premium liquor is available but often times you'll have to go to the Platinum room to have your Premium drinks made or get the liquor and bring it to a bartender. The only area outside the platinum club that will serve you 100% of the time with Premium Liquor is around the Infinity pool. All the Dinner Restaurants are there to please you. If there is something you don't like the server will place another order or correct your order. Our favorite restaurant is the French, try the Beet Salad and the Filet. Lobster is offered at all the Restaurants this year for addition $49.00. The entertainment has improved throughout the years. Very talented singers and acrobatics!
Tip: Make your dinner reservations as soon as you can, ideal times goes fast.
Tipping is Much Appreciated by the Staff!
Early Bird gets .....I've seen towels on chairs around the Infinity pool full by 7:15 AM.
NOTE: Watch your Kiddos! We saw a 8 year old girl fall 4 feet down on bushes looking at a Iguana, The Accident happen fast, the parents were with her at the time. The accident was at the Infinity Pool deck. There are no railings there.
Thank you for the great staff! Willy, the Sommelier. Willy had a dinner table set with rosebuds, a favorite bottle of wine for my wife and a cold ice bath on the table for my beer, I brought my beer to dinner. Willy remembered we were celebrating our Anniversary.

This resort more than met all our expectations. Beautiful rooms, excellent service (special shout out to Pablo and to Itzel and Leonar in the platinum lounge), always available chairs either in the sun or shade, plenty of different pool/hot tub areas so you could pick your level of quiet or activity. The food was different from any other resort I've been to - excellent variety in a food court type setting. Cleanliness is key here, never ending. Even the concrete walkways and stairs are disinfected continually! It is new so the plants haven't come to their full potential yet, not like the marina side, which has a cosier, more Mexican feel to it, but it will come. The only thing is, both sides are available to both the marina and the ventus guests so I'm not sure there is value in picking one over the other. We also opted for platinum which gave us a butler. Other than providing wine to our room, we had no value from him (not his fault - we didn't need reserved palapas, extra a la cartes or treats in our room). The weather was windy every day, not sure if this was a fluke, or the norm for that area. It made snorkelling impossible, swimming in the ocean challenging, but made sitting by the ocean or pool lovely :)

This new addition by the El Cid Group is outstanding! We stayed 10 days with the Ventus Platinum vacation, which gave us a buttler named Oscar, who was also outstanding! The benefits of Platinum were worth it for us, in particular for booking the restaurants, keeping the mini fridge full of the items we liked best, for the use of the Platinum lounge and reserving the beach palapas, having the daily activity sheets delivered daily. Take into consideration 60% of the clientele were in their 50's and over. We liked that as we fit right into that category and were looking for a quiet, restful vacation. The main pool at the Marina side was louder and more entertaining for the younger crowd. We walked the beach daily and the water was clear enough to see the occasional fish swimming. We were in a beachfront room and one morning we saw dolphins jumping freely in the ocean through our window. All the restaurants were good and the Mercado de Delores was a fun place to eat, so many different kiosks with every food imaginable and very fresh items. The Mexican kiosk cooked fresh fajitas and steaks, to your taste and the food was very good. We loved our room, Junior Suite Oceanfront Platinum, air conditioning was good, beds good and we used the pillow menu to have a choice of pillows. Room service was quick, great sandwiches and chips and really nice Caesar salad with chicken breast. also you could order wine and they left the whole bottle. It ticked a lot of boxes for us, e.g. walk in shower, bathing suit hangers, double sinks, table and chairs, flat screen tv, good housekeeping and turn down service every evening with towel refresh if needed, shelves and hangers, safe, fridge, large beach towels you could exchange multiple times per day, great pools although not all are heated, huge jacuzies at the infinity pool nice and warm, bar service to your beach or pool chair, servers everywhere were well trained and attentive, and an amazing coffee shop called Aromas, open at 7 a.m. with an assortment of coffees, teas, sweets and fruits and ice-cream. I could go on and on but will just say we will definitely return for another stay. The only unusual thing was check in at the Platinum reception was too long, we were tired after a day of travel and just wanted to go to our room, we were given our wrist bands and room keys but we were not given our ride to our room without meeting and greeting different employees of the resort, mostly to try to get us to a "time share presentation" which we declined just because we don't do that kind of thing, but many do and thats a great option for those who want it.

Just returned last night from best vacation at a Mexican resort. For only $300 we got upgraded to premium 1 bedroom suite with spanning ocean view from entire suite. Excellent food at all venues. Great amenities part of resort, including marina with 15+ fishing boats. Caught nice dolphin fish/mahi mahi on boat Double Trouble in 1 hour, and had meal prepared by restaurant chef. Had great 50 minute massage, but avoid pre-massage aqua therapy unless you like extreme heat then cold. You can also swim with the dolphins in their on-site facility. Just less than a mile to the north is the quaint fishing/snorkeling village of Puerto Moreles, from where you can get small snorkeling boats. This village gives you a real feel of the local environment, where minimal English is spoken, but we made 3 $20 RT taxi rides there for shopping and snorkeling. Finally, the service by all staff is exceptional.
If a beach with crystal clear water and lots of beach activities is your priority, this is not your resort.
If you don't plan to return to this resort for 20 years every year, pass on the vacation club presentation, which is offered, but not mandatory.

Had one of the worst experiences with Ventus El Cid.
1st. checking in was suppose to take place at 3pm, arrived earlier so went to eat at the buffet and was informed the room would be ready once we returned from eating. 45min later we are told it will be another hour or so cause they are sanitizing the room.

2nd. Tried booking dinner reservations for the next couple of days and was informed majority of the restaurants were booked for the next 4 days and my only option would be the buffet or room service, really? Spent all this money for an all-inclusive and I’m going to eat at the buffet for 4 days. The manager Silvia tried making it right by figuring out what she could but it wasn’t at the restaurants we wanted to enjoy.

3rd. WiFi I asked for additional codes cause the kids needed the wifi so you get 2 included so I asked for a total of 5 cause we had 5 devices. @ checkout they tell me we issued you 7 codes and they were all used, how can we use 7 wifi codes with only 5 devices? Really Ventus? Tech support said all codes were used, impossible!

4th. Went to get COVID tested and scheduled the important via the app, once I arrived for the appointment they said I need to go back to the front desk and get a voucher before they can conduct the test.

5th. The level of customer service is non- existent they don’t care, but they will start when we never visit this location ag

Overall one of the worst spring breaks vacations I have ever experienced.

The Resort
Great people, great resort, great food
All staff we dealt with on a day to day basis were great. We especially liked Calixto the bartender in Delores.
The resort was very clean and our rooms location on the main floor of building 22 was perfect. The room did not look like any of the resorts promo pics because while it was a Ventus building it had been a Marina building and our room hadn't been renovated to the Ventus layout, but only having one sink isn't a big deal to us.
We found all the food very good, the French restaurant was as close to fine dining as we have ever found on a resort. The Seafood restaurant was closed for renovations but the Mediterranean one flipped between Seafood and Mediterranean, the only restaurant that didn't seem to have its act totally together was the Italian, not big missteps but enough to be an irritant to us as we have both worked at fine dining establishments and know how things are supposed to go.
If you're a coffee lover don't miss out on the Mayan coffee in the Mexican restaurant, great show and great coffee.

The timeshare
So, if you don't want to lose half a day of your vacation just say NO.
It wasn't as bad as some we have attended but they still had a hard time accepting No. When we said the absolutely ludicrous price was way out of our pocket books range they had the audacity to suggest we take out a home equity loan! To pay for vacations, I don't think so!

The town
Puerto Morelos is a great little town. No constant pressure from sales people on the malecon, some unique crafts available in the market and a great grocery store that is like a Mexican version of Walmart. A little bit of everything and definitely a good place to buy your take home booze.
We walked into town one day, two 60+ year olds did it in a half hour.

The Cenotes
One piece of advice if you want to experience a less crowded cenote than the resort will send you to find a none resort taxi (down town) arrange to hire them for the day and listen to their suggestions for where to go. We had an amazing day for $1200 pesos + entrance fees of $20us each per experience, two of us ziplined, experienced 3 totally different Cenotes and stopped to have a beer tasting flight at a local brewery.

The seaweed
It wasn't at all bad while we were there, a little worse after the one and only storm we experienced. But shouldn't have interfered with anyone enjoying the ocean.

All in all we enjoyed the resort, the town, the weather and getting away from the great white north. Will probably return to El CID in the future.

We took the advice of the sales pitch a few reviewers mentioned, and booked our own tours. There is kind of an atmosphere of sales, but all in all a great Mexican experience. Ventus is quieter, El Cid, more of a kid friendly side. Both had excellent food. Some things Ventus could improve on:
1) Adopt what other resorts and hotels are doing and only clean the rooms when requested. We are hardly there, and having the sheets changed every day, and a turn down service is really not needed and environmentally unfriendly. Same with towels.
2) The lobby is extremely perfumed. Not needed, or use something less potent. Some of us are allergic! I couldn't stand to be in this area for very long at all.
3) Not a huge deal, but it remains a bit noisy at night. 1:00 am is the only time decent music is played. Which brings me to..
4) The elevator music played throughout the resort when there wasn't live entertainment. Mick would turn over in his grave (if he was dead), listening the the resorts version of Under My Thumb. No music would be better, or original artists from all genres of music. That being said, I know it's hard to please everyone where music is concerned.
Other than that, fantastic staff, food, and a really lovely resort. The pool is amazing, as well as the beach. It is sandy, but just be careful, there are large rocks in the water. The pool is HUGE on both sides, one of the highlights for me.

The property at El Cid was beautiful, and there was lots of places to relax poolside or on the beach. We also found that there was plenty of availability for reservations at the restaurants. The food was great overall, a few meals could have been warmer, but the flavour was wonderful. The staff at the adult only bar in the lobby (especially Francisco) was a bright spot too, as he was attentive and friendly, and always had a drink at the ready for us.

As for our concerns, we had an incident with the Night Manager who woke us up in the middle of the night (330am) as he had complaints about noise on the floor, which was clearly coming from the neighbouring room, which I could hear when I opened my door. However, they rang our doorbell, and called us, despite the fact you could hear which room it was coming from. When we spoke to the staff in the morning about it, they were more concerned about the noise complaint than about the fact that their staff had woke us up - and did not apologize for the inconvenience, told us someone would be in contact with us, which they were not.

In addition, there was construction taking place in our building which was consistently waking us up daily, and had not been communicated to us, to expect it. And the beds and pillows were not at the level of luxury as the rest of the resort.

The personal concierge did not seem to have time for our questions either, barely answered them before walking away. Leaving us mildly confused as to how to get a return trip to the airport, and where to find certain activities.

Also there was a required fee for WiFi PER device is unusual, and the WiFi we payed for ($60USD for the first device, $40USD for each additional) was spotty and unreliable.

We have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts of varying levels of luxury, and this one did not hold up to the standard of making us feel like we were valued customers.

This place is AMAZING! I was worried to travel due to Covid but let me just say, this place is SO clean. They take extra precaution to sanitize the resort. There's hand sanitizer throughout the buildings and they also have a sanitation mat to clean the bottom of your shoes whenever you enter a building. The trashcans were even very clean.

The staff there is wonderful. Everyone from the person who drives the golf carts, to the waiters, and the staff at the lobby. After a few days, you see the same workers at the different restaurants and most of them, if not all, took the extra step to greet me (even if I was not siting in the area they were serving). One person who stood out was Jose Marquez. He greeted us every time he saw us and took the time to ask how we were doing.

We did the catamaran tour (snorkel) and it was SO worth it. Wow, it was breathtaking. There were so many different types of fishes and sea life. I stayed next to the tour guide (I forgot his name) and he pointed out all the amazing sea creatures. I highly recommend spending the extra money for the snorkel tour (even if you've gone snorkeling before).

Thank you El Cid for an amazing experience. I wish I stayed longer. Until next time...

The resort grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. Pools were very clean and provided a variety of options for our family. The staff at the restaurants and bars were very friendly and accomodating. We gave our rating 2 stars because we were very disappointed in the quality and variety of food options. You had to make reservations for all restaurants on site with the exception of one and these had to be made when you arrived or there was no availability. The lobby had an awful odor of some type of overpowering scent and the seaweed covering the beach caused a smell throughout the resort. I would not recommend the platinum package because the butler service was only available when she was on duty which was almost never. Our "personal concierge" only helped us when he was trying to get us to go on a tour of the property in an attempt to get us to commit to their resort in the future. When we said that we weren't interested, he left us alone and was unavailable for any further questions we had about our stay. There was also limited tequila at bars and only Platinum package access locations had premium but you were not supposed to take from that location (one by the pool closed at 5:00 or before) Restaurants closed and Market was not open for dinner on the 1st 3 nights of trip. Platinum package advertised nightly aroma package (got it once), robes (never got them), umbrellas (had to get them ourselves as butler was unable to locate any at all). The slider to balcony leaked when inside and onto the floor when rained. Room service was 24 hours a day but was very limited and when pouring down rain we could only get fruit, pastry rolls, and coffee. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

It looks like many of the negative comments were during the same week we visited in June. I hope that not only are you reviewing the feedback but also inquiring solutions from some of your guests. Happy to help.
