This is the first review I have ever written about anything. That being said, my wife and I just got home from Casitas Kinsol. Last year we went to an all inclusive. This year we wanted to spend more time with the local people and their culture. Having read many of the reviews we felt like giving our two cents...

The casitas itself is charming and very, very clean. Sparkling clean and well kept. But the place itself is hard to find and not very attractive at all. It says Puerto Morelos - it should say Up by the Highway. Ok - a taxi to the beach is only 30 pesos, but you really are in the middle of nowhere...

On first glance it looks like a great place. It is well decorated and inviting. Unfortunately the room we had was damp, musty and there was a perfume smell trying to cover up the damp smell. I have travelled a great deal in the tropics and I have never come across such a damp musty room. It is also not...

We stayed at this guesthouse for three nights. It was fantastic! We found our room to be really big and it was cleaned very nicely everyday!! We absolutely loved the dogs and the cat. The owners, Alain and Christine are wonderful and a great source of information about the area and always very happy to chat and give their advice...

Cozy private casitas with community guest area in a jungle-like setting (close to actual jungle). The owners, Christina and Alain, are very friendly, and their 2 dogs and the cat are wonderful. There is even some wildlife, some geckos, and a resident turtle. The bed is a tad small for anyone over 6 foot tall (I am), but that's a...

You get a nice cabana, in a kind of secret garden. From outside it does look good. Inside, it's a bit less. The kitchen is equipped, but very marginal. The bed is extremely small, both in width as in length (we are both 1.80m). The bathroom is OK, with some small details (for which we are a sucker) that makes...

This guest house was the best place we stayed in Mexico. We turned up and the front doesn't look that inviting but behind the gate is a jungley paradise with lovely relaxation areas and beautiful cabins for rooms. We were in a 3 bed room which was decorated so nicely and had comfy beds and two fans so was cool...

I love this place and the owners, Christina and Alain. Such incredible people. Even though it is not on the beach side of PM, the property and owners make up for any time spent getting to the beach...a short and inexpensive (dirt cheap) taxi ride. The property itself feels authentic and natural. The rooms are lovely but not over the...

Casitas Kinsol We greatly enjoyed our stay in this unique home away from home! Christina and Alain were wonderful hosts. They were there whenever we needed them, yet unobtrusive. We got some excellent recommendations, especially for things to do in the area. They were able to answer all our questions and give great insider knowledge about how to navigate various...

Everything about this place is great. Location is near restaurants and convenience stores and near the plaza where friendly locals gather in the evenings. An easy ride by bike, taxi or collectivo to the beach. Quiet, environmentally-conscious, lovely (really, its like a garden - lots of trees, birds, and flowers) and away from the chaos of Cancun. Hosts are very...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casitas Kinsol is a Guest House with 8 rooms for rent in Puerto Morelos, on the Mayan Riviera, 25 minutes South of the airport international of Cancun and 4 blocks from the main bus stop in town. It resides in the heart of the “Colonia” of Puerto Morelos conveniently located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen and only 2 miles to the beach. Surrounded by many eateries, grocery stands and stores, it offers 8 romantic rooms and bungalows: 4 with kitchenettes and 4 without. All the rooms have basic amenities at low prices for double occupancy. The rooms come with private baths, hot showers, air fans and a unique décor designed by the owners. Most of them come with WI-FI. Room #1:The Master Room is (as well as the room 8) an authentic Mayan hut where Mayan people used to leave until the early 1990's. It has been converted to a large room with its private bathroom. The thatched roof was replaced by a stucco one with two skylights. Two small windows were added to bring some more light to the room. It has cement floor and tiles in the large bathroom. It is a very large standalone, ground floor, hut style bungalow, complete with a full-size (double) bed and one twin-size (single) bed, so it will accommodate 3 persons. Private bathroom and kitchenette. It offers a refrigerator and two burner stove-top but no ovens or microwave. No microwave or standard ovens, no dishwasher either. This room has a front door allowing you to exit onto the boulevard without having to go through the grounds but also a backdoor giving you access to the gardens and relaxation areas as well. ... more   less
