We traveled here for my sister’s wedding which was, of course, wonderful! The weather was beautiful, the company was amazing, the food and drink flowed freely, and the service was perfect! We upgraded to the “platinum level” which gives you access to better alcohol and most importantly, a butler! Our butlers for our stay were Gerson and Alan. They were both excellent. Texting them made making dinner reservations super easy. They would also make sure we had our coffee every morning and had our rooms smelling like lavender at night, making going to sleep that much more enjoyable.
I was able to text Gerson any time we had questions or concerns and he was very quick to make sure we were taken care of.
A few of us went fishing and were able to bring our fresh catch to the Mercado where they cooked our fish for our lunch!
I will absolutely be back and will be making sure Gerson, Alan, and Richard(our concierge) are there to help us! 🙋🏻♂️unless next time

Although this isn’t one of the newer shinier hotels, I was pleasantly surprised. To give some context I’ve stayed in multiple Riu resorts as well as quite a few others on the Mayan Riviera.
There are three hotels on this property. We stayed in the marina block of hotel rooms, which is right on the beach. They are older so they have the older air conditioners and musty smelling rooms that is typical for Mexico however, while we were there they were swapping them out. we had a room with the old one and the temperature didn’t go below 22° at night, which made it difficult to sleep but otherwise the rooms were fine.
The food was really quite good. I stayed in a brand new Riu in October and found the food to be absolutely terrible, but the restaurants here were really really good and I had no complaints about the buffet even though it was a bit bit smaller.
The best thing about this hotel is that even though we paid the cheapest price to stay at the marina we could use the ventus and the Ha free of charge. They have beautiful pools including a beachfront adult only and the Ha has a gorgeous pool and a beautiful rooftop pool for adults. Best margarita I’ve ever had at the ha pool.
The lobby in the Ventus had a bar and the karaoke turned out to be quite entertaining.
My only complaint if I have one was there was limited vegetarian food in the buffet and the outdoor Mexican dinner. Even the breakfast potatoes were cooked in bacon? Fat and there wasn’t a lot of fish and the Mexican taco night was all meat no alternatives or fish. The lunch restaurant behind thd kids pool is great. Lots of stuff including fish tacos. I should say though that the seafood restaurant offered me a whole different vegetarian menu when I couldn’t eat anything off the seafood one.
Don’t go for the beach. Its pretty smelly and there big wave break things so you can’t really swim in front of the hotel. Ok for little kids to paddle in though.
I probably won’t go to Mexico in April/may again. It was way too hot, (low 30’s) abd pretty humid.

Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort is a wonderful place to stay, relax and enjoy great food. We stayed for a week in October and we will be looking to return in the future.
When staying at Hotel Marina El Cid you can use the restaurants and amenities at the connected El Cid resorts. This is a nice perk and gives you access to 6 pools as well
The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. We upgraded to a platinum room with an ocean view, use of the butler team of Ivan and Cali who provided awesome service. They booked our restaurants, took care of any requests we had, would let us know what the daily entertainment and activities were and were around to say hi each day and make us feel like we were one of their top priorities
Housekeeping does a great job keeping the rooms clean and it occurs everyday normally twice a day
Another nice perk is the hotel is extremely close to the beach. It is literally a 1-2 minute walk to the beach from most rooms. The beach is nice but it has some barriers built in so its not as great as some others we have been to
The daily entertainment was excellent. There were different theme nights. The Disney and hit music nights were awesome
The amenities: Kayaks, water slides and cliff jumping at the main pool, 2 beach side infinity pools, free daily guide led bike trip into Puerto Morelos which was very enjoyable, make sure to grab some souvenirs or food at the Chedraui supermarket and there are daily pool activities
The restaurants: The main buffet La Alhambra is great and the local Mexican food they make is top notch. They change parts of the menu every day so you can keep going back and not be bored. Some of the highlights are the tacos, fresh cooked to order meats, pasta, crepes, and assorted deserts
Mercado De Dolores is a food court/buffet style area open for lunch with many choices to eat all of which were great
For the sit down restaurants Hacienda Arrecife(Mexican), Kobo (teppanyaki), and A'akat Ibero-American were excellent
Aroma's cafe is an excellent spot to get a coffee, tea, hot chocolate, lattes and other hot/cold drinks. It also has fresh pastries, ice cream, jello/parfaits, and sandwiches. It is open most of the day and is a nice place to sit and enjoy the day.
This is great resort and we would recommend it

As platinum guests we waited 5 hours to check in. The room, although nice enough, was not up to the standards I paid for in guest comforts. The Air Conditioning did not work and repair services were called twice with no result and eventually having us to move to another room. There is definitely not enough bathrooms or areas to wash hands and in a buffet environment it should be absolutely necessary to be able to wash hands before and after eating. Only 1 bathroom (??!!) in pool area? Regardless., we ended up with a cold on our last couple days. The beach is not a beach and because of this the pool is overwhelmed with peopleand the pool water is way too cold to enjoy. The food is just ordinary and the same everywhere, apparently just the color of the soup changes.

Food wasn’t enough we get it it’s Mexico but there should be a different variety of food than Mexican food and going to the restaurant that’s always being booked up it’s hard to really enjoy the food. And room service was all cold order hot chocolate was all cold. The cleaning of the room took very long to come they came till late like 4 PM and after it was the last night of staying there they came early. All the pools were all cold we had went to other resorts where there was like a pool warmer something like that in the pool. Wish there was like finger food like wings or chips and salas at the pool having so much water down drinks at the pool. I feel like I payed for a luxury room and got there and had to pay $400 more just to have a decent room I felt robbed knowing they had certain rooms available a total scam

This resort was so nice and so much fun. The rooms and the entire resort, inside and out, were very clean and built very solid. My 2 sons in their 20s and I had fun in the pool, on the small waterslide and playing pool volleyball every day. Highly recommend pool volleyball even if you're no good. There is a small beach area, but it was more fun to play at the pool every day. The food in the restaurants with reservations was very good. The breakfast buffet was huge and good. I wouldn't bother going to the dinner buffet because the food wasn't great or even very hot - just eat in one of the many full service restaurants for dinner. Make reservations early or the day before because they fill up. They provide pool towels and we always found chairs and tables to sit at by the pool. They don't let people put towels on a chair & leave it there all day. The service at lobby, room service, housekeeping and everywhere was fantastic. The pool dances and exercises were fun and funny. They have families with young kids, but they are not in the way or bothering your vacation because they have their own area and activities.

Ventus Marina El Cid is beautiful resort! There are 3 resorts together, older newer and brand new but all are Extremely clean but mostly quiet! White beach towels, speaks of a cleanness. I want to point out VIP buttler walter at Marina El Cid was serving us with extra attention reserving us drinks, getting us pool chairs and made our vacation alot better!!! Room have Very comparable beds sheets quality is luxurious, and Housekeeping changing sheets without asking, beautiful landscaping, beautiful pools, just lacking music by Ventus pool. There's entertainment and music by Marina El Cid Pool. Ventus lobby entertaining daily with live music, after live music DJ but not every day. Hotel puts bracelets on the wrist tgey scan when you get in restaurant but if you loose one they charge $20 it's way too much for something you done ventus want to have on your wrist to begging with. No wifi enternet cost $15per day. Hotel also charged us $31 some sort of taxes I didn't understand what for. For lunch we went to Hacienda restaurant not much to chooser from but they grilled tbone steaks, pork and fish was delicious! There was a decent coffee shop with pastries by ventus buffet place. Dinners need to be reserved ahead of time and often nothing available so we just go to restaurant and ask a manager to let us eat because buffet are so small and choices are few, if we pay for allinclucive $$$ I want to be served at least a dinner. Food in restaurants was good. Drinks and the view at Rooftop bar in VentusHa was phenomenal! After all we liked stayithere even it was a little boring without Pool music. There was at least 3 warm jacuzzi to warm up in the evening. Lots of cabanas at no cost no reservation needed. At the time we stayed beach was terrible, like muddy water.

The room was very nice with a balcony view of the ocean. We paid $1,400 for all inclusive which gave us access to 7 restaurants. Unfortunately, we were only able to dine at 5. I had the worst meal possible at the seafood restaurant near the marina. The fish was very tough. We kept running put of coffee and water. Had to repeatedly call for service. Room service was nice, but they never picked up our tray after calling them to pick it up. The maid service was friendly and excellent. The pools were beautiful and well kept. I did like the ability to go to the El Cid Ventus and Ventus HA. There were carts available to take us everywhere, which is good because I am elderly with limited mobility. We stayed during Hurricane Helene and were locked down in our room for one day. They covered balcony doors with a storm shutters. I felt safe. I doubt I will return to this resort.

Great Resort, great food and service. Rooms are clean with firm mattreses and pillows. Maids also come at night with clean towels shampoo, conditioner, lotion. soap if needed. This is definitely a pluss!. Air is perfect in rooms and mimi bar is cold and restocked daily, if not call room service and they will send what you need right away. The Delores buffet is the best buffet. Retaurants are all good. My favorites is the Akaat, The Marina and Mexican at night. My husband and I have been going to Mexico for 27 years and this resort has the best food, There is also room service which is included. We tried it at night the day we arrived and once again at 4:00 oclock in the morning the day we left. The food was very good and had a nice selection. There are a wide variety of pools all clean and with bars, the activity pool is the only one with a swim up bar. Service at all pools and bars were great The shows at night were good and I enjoyed the music offered at night in the lobby bar. One night a jaz player, another night a harp and also a guitarist another night. This resort is amazing, food and service excellent!! They provide rides to were you are going in golf carts if you are to tired to walk. This is a nice touch. The only thing this resort needs inprovement in is the activity team. They have volleyball water polo and crazy pool games but the team dosent work at getting this going. We organized volleyball a few days. This is important because you meet more people and have so much fun playing games that you have fun memories and want to go back again. Also thank you for providing a smoking area across from the loby but it needs a bench or something to sit on so you can relax and enjoy your cigarette, Go to the El Cid you cant go wrong. I would like to thank all the staff at The El Cid (too many names to mention) for the excellent service and welcoming to their beautiful Country. You have made my vacation so enjoyable I have so many good memories to shar because of all of you. Thanks!!!

It was our 11th time in Mexico and the eastern coast like Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa de Carmen, Coba, Tulum and Akulum we visited almost all of it. Staying at Marina El Cid was our 3rd time. We visited this hotel for the first time in 2015. Now you can see the passage of time in the buildings (especially numbers 19, 18, 17, 16 - a general renovation is needed) and the service and quality of food (although it is still at a sufficient level, you can see differences after the pandemic for the worse). If you want better rooms you have to book a room in Ventus or Ventus Ha (we were there in 2021 and you have access to all 3 hotels). For the last 11 years of vacationing in Mexico, we always felt safe and no one robbed us. But this year we had a situation. Because we know that the hotel staff works very hard, we try to tip them as far as possible. For at least 2 years, the Marina El Cid hotel has an envelope in each room for the person cleaning the room (it says the name of the person and that there is a cleaner for the duration of our stay). On the second day of our stay, we left a note on the door with a request to clean our room and put $5 in an envelope for the cleaning lady (we always do this every day and at the end of the stay we leave extra money). The whole day no one came to clean the room (maybe there is a lack of staff?). The problem is that the money was taken from the envelope. In our opinion, the only person who was in our room that day was the person delivering water and soda to the rooms. We did not report the loss of $5 to the front desk, because we had no evidence that we had left it in the envelope there. If the water delivery person took it, then: 1. she or he shouldn't go any further than the mini bar that was by the front door and the envelope was on the table in the room. 2. this person should not take this money because as the envelope says it is for the cleaning lady. So it's only $5 but somebody took it, you can not trust anybody anymore. Sad. Disappointed.
