Here for 4 nights and finding we are eating like Kings! The cuisine has to be sampled to be believed, served by our hosts Roy and Goretti in an amazing setting almost film set like! Plenty to do in surrounding area, running, cycling, volcano exploring or simply sunning your self by the private pool. We'll be back

La Rectoria is a comfortable, friendly place to stay with a beautiful location and interesting history, you can look around the church and in one of the communal sitting rooms the old ovens are preserved. The food both at breakfast and for the evening meals is delicious as were the local wines on offer to enjoy with it. Gioretti and...

My wife and I spent 5 nights at La Rectoria, the end of 16 days of traveling in Catalunya. It was a wonderful way to end our vacation. The B & B is spacious and comfortable and had everything we could want - a very comfortable bed, roomy bathroom with shower and fan, common areas for relaxing and socializing, and...

A very big thank you for your most comprehensive and fulsome review. As with other guests that choose to stay with us for a couple of days or more, it is a pleasure to spend time with them (as discreetly as possible and in an unintrusive manner) in order that they might learn about the area and what it has...

We absolutely loved our stay at the Rectoria, wish it could have been longer. So much to see and do in this very pretty part of the world. We rented bikes through La Rectoria, very nice to have them ready for us when we arrived. The first day we went the wrong way, but it was ok we had a...

If you love food, nature, walking, biking, wandering charming mountain villages or just getting away from it all, you would have difficulty finding a lovelier place to stay. Roy and Goretti had vision restoring this historical building into the perfect rural inn with very comfortable amenities. We had two wonderful dinners and I will be remembering that pumpkin gnocchi with...

It might not be the place for a 60inches TV, but the perfect place for resting after walking or cycling, a thoughful moment with a glass of "long finish" whiskey at the fireplace' room, or getting your well-deserved dinner... Rooms are not big, but comfortable. It cannot be considered as cheap, but good value for money. Location is great if...

Roy and Goretti opened their newly restored ancient rectory four years ago and are working their socks off to make their guests' stays as enjoyable as possible. They have incorporated into the rooms elements of the old building such as doors and shutters and blended these with a quirky mixture of antiques from Roy's Scottish family home and the local...

Many thanks for your fulsome and generous review and I can only apologise for not responding before now.....down to a glitch in communications. Having enjoyed the beef dish so much we have subsequently added another (different cut and accompanying garnish) to our repertoire to be sample with a terrific 'Terra Alta' red. This was our fifth visit to La Rectoria, and we were very happy to see nothing's changed: still the same warm family welcome, the more-than-comfortable accommodation, and of course the terrific cooking (the sticky toffee pudding is a wonderful memory). Perfectly located for day trips to Vic, Ripoll, Olot, or hikes in the volcanic hills, La Rectoria is a very...

As our Triple A Star gilt edged guests, customers si no budding friends, it was great to receive you both again on your 'annual' pilgrimage to Catalunya. If anything has changed concerning your hosts it might be the occasional creeking knee joint and the additional grey hair and wrinkle. It was lovely to have you with us again and good...

Our room was comfortable and quiet, they've done a great job of renovating an old building. The area is rural, with lots of hiking and La Rectoria is right on a bike path, so both mountain biking and road biking are excellent. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Rectoria de Sant Miquel de Pineda is a lovingly restored, family run, 12th century rectory set in La Garrotxa Volcanic Natural Park, on the southern edge of the Pyrenees 45 minutes north west from Girona. At La Rectoria we offer uncomplicated hospitality and comfort in the relative privacy, peace and quiet of our woodland setting. Our guest house is situated on the via verde cycle path 15km south of Olot and 85km from the Costa Brava and the town of Sant Feliu de Guixols. Set in a large garden with a swimming pool. There is also a small patio between the house and the chapel of Sant Miquel where you can sit, relax, read and enjoy an aperitif. The house has 7 ensuite (showers only) bedrooms, two lounges, one with a TV and two spacious halls. Free wifi is available. The dining room gives guests a wonderful view down the Vall d'Hostales where breakfast and dinner are served. At breakfast as well as teas, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice and the Catalan breakfast of 'pa i tomaquet' (toast with tomato), there is a buffet of local cheeses and cured meats, homemade sponge and cereals. All the jams and marmalades are homemade and there is the additional option of our 'Egg Menu'.....scrambled, boiled, poached and more! In the evening we serve a fixed 3 course menu (24€) using local produce where ever possible. All of the dishes are freshly prepared, reflecting a mix of the culinary styles of Catalonia and Scotland, the owner/chef's home, with a number of the desserts being classic puddings and all the ice creams homemade. All of our wines are Catalan. A bar menu is available and we stock a good selection of Scottish whiskies. We can arrange bike hire and for these to be delivered to the house and we are happy to assist our guests with advice on activities and things to visit, see and do in the surrounding area. ... more   less
