Staying at Cockatoo and getting to chat with Carmen made our trip to Daintree! The area is spectacular and the retreat is set in the most lush forest to enjoy the area. The rooms are bright and spotless with big balconies overlooking the rainforest. It was our anniversary and a bottle of sparkling wine was waiting in the fridge complete...

We have made several visits to Cockatoo Hill Retreat, Carmen the owner is an excellent host who is very knowledgable about the Daintree area and facilities and will go out of her way to make sure you have a perfect experience. The site is beautiful with views over the forest to the sea and there are Cassowaries, Padmelons and tropical...

We had the most amazing few days at Cockatoo Hill Retreat. The location is simply beautiful and Carmen is a wonderful host. The whole experience was relaxing and rejuvenating. We had a wonderful view from our treehouse and the pool was a fabulous way to cool down after a hot day in the rain forest. We will certainly be back.

My husband and I stayed at Cockatoo Hill for our honeymoon. We stayed for five glorious days. Carmen was an incredible host. Her prompt emails leading up to our trip were helpful and when we arrived, she was full of information and suggestions for us as to how to spend our days in the Daintree. She even organised a couple...

There are some weaknesses with Cockatoo Hill Retreat, but the strengths and remarkably pleasant and accommodating Carmen is simply outweigh them. The view is stunning, I would have liked to see some easy chairs rather than folding chairs on the balconies though. The cleanliness of the rooms was impeccable and we were able to check in early. The pool is...

We stayed with Carmen for two nights and enjoyed our relaxing time thoroughly. The 'tree house' is a cabin (there are four) overlooking the Daintree rainforest and the ocean. Pointing east means you are greeted by the sunrise (and when we were there the moon rise) which was special. The cabin is more than comfortable, bordering on luxurious but you...

We stayed for three nights and wish we had booked more. The bungalow was immaculate, breakfast leisurely with a great choice of organic food, Carmen was delightful and so helpful and just to top it all we saw a cassowary. Cockatoo Hill Retreat is an incredible place to stay, so relaxing with wonderful views of the rain forest. Carmen was...

This is where you need to go if you love botany and wildlife, or if you just need to completely escape from life in general. We were very lazy and left it up to the beautiful Carmen to organise everything for us including our meals out at night and our excursions during the day. Tourists do day trips from Port...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Cockatoo Hill Retreat over the long weekend. This is a small boutique style retreat and we were in 1 of only 4 bungalows available. The funny thing is that this place is so well designed, we always felt like we were in our own private rainforest paradise. Waking up to the chirps of...
