loved our stay at African Heart. The place is in a good location close to shops and restaurants, and we enjoyed using public transport to access the city's sights, mostly by train. The area is busy, lots of students, quirky cafes and really cool to see how multi-cultural it is, much more than anywhere else we saw in SA. The...

The staff, though laid back, were friendly and very helpful when it came time to book excursions and call a cab. The hostel is neatly decorated. The location is not great as the neighborhood is sketchy with some shady characters hanging around as well as quite noisy throughout the night. I would suggest spending a little more money on an...

I was volunteering in Cape Town, and stayed at the hostel for 2 months. The service was absolutely amazing, whenever I had any questions, the receptionists could find an answer. The people I met there, became my family while I was in Cape Town, and I'm still in touch with most of them. There were some technical problems during my...

After reading so many reviews about this place saying things like "perfect" and "professional staff," maybe our expectations were just too high. Our room "Treetop" was quite comfortable, breakfast was cereal, white bread and margarine, location near many great restaurants and an awesome natural foods store was great. But we were not impressed with the "service," other than from one...

Hi Jim & Julie, I'm sorry to read that you did not receive a satisfactory level of service from our evening staff. The points you raise are fair, and not acceptable, and we apologise the girls did not perform to their expected standard. We strive to provide the best guest experience for each and every person who stays with us,...

The hostel was perfect for little budget. I booked and payed for a quad room. I got a twin room and had the luxuary to sleep with out a room mate. Thanks again! The hostel was almost fully booked. I was lucky. Showers are fine. Beds are comfortable. Stuff helpful and the lounge cozy. Be careful at night if you...

There was a professional staff and good service. It was a fully equipped kitchen, so you could make all the food you wanted. In addition we got free food in the morning – it was simple, but ok. It was also bars and food store just around the corner. We also enjoyed the African feel and style of the place.

I came down to Cape Town on business and decided the more casual route than hotels. I was pleasantly surprised at the great service and friendliness I was welcomed with! Complimentary nespresso, complimentary light breakfast, free wifi were all things I wasn't expecting! Great place, awesome vibe, beautiful surroundings, friendly, helpful staff! Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Stayed here while visiting friends in the area. Very laid back atmosphere and wonderful staff. The location is great because it is both close to shops + restaurants along Lower Main Rd and the minibus taxis along Main Rd. I would definitely recommend to everyone.

As a volunteer I stayed at African Heart for two months and I had the best time! I really felt like I was coming home after work because it really is a little house with a beautiful kitchen, a cosy living room, clean showers and toilets, nice rooms and amazing, friendly, open-minded people to top it all of. The location...

Nice backpackers, but not the best for tourists as it is a fairly long trip into the city (and a pretty sketchy journey to make at night!). The area is nice and has good restaurants, but breakfast was pretty stingy compared with other backpackers we stayed in.

Hi Samone & Jarryd, I appreciate the feedback and that you liked African Heart, and would like to respond to your criticisms. Cape Town is a big city spanning over 100km end-to-end. We do not try to compete with the oversupply of backpackers in the City-centre, rather offering guests a more intimate look into the real Cape Town, and Observatory...
