We camped at The Olive Branch for a week to climb in the gorge. The campsite is very well equipped with a campers kitchen, toilet and shower facilities and a communal recreation area. The accommodation is excellent and Mel and Gary were very welcoming and extremely helpful. We will most likely return next year to repeat the experience. A great... More

We had an en suite B&B with breakfast, staying for 4 nights. The room was light clean and comfortable and the breakfast excellent (cooked english breakfast to start the day!). We are a mature couple and not rock climbers but were welcomed into the community staying at The Olive Branch. We spent little time in the room as we could... More

This was our first visit to the Olive Branch but it won´t be our last....We spent 3 days there in one of their en-suite rooms which was very nice, clean and comfortable. El Churro is a climbers paradise!....We are not climbers but enjoyed walks around the area which offers stunning scenery. The accommodation offers something for everyone...campers..back packers and rooms... More

Essentially for many this is a sporty retreat for climbers , hikers, cyclists but it caters for all. One can also laze under the clear Andalusian sky by the pool, read or just plain gaze over panoramic mountain scenery, disturbed by Benellis' eagle and scores of kites. There are no shops in El Chorro; the nearest small mercado is 5... More

I've stopped at the Olive Branch on at least 5 occasions now and it is always brilliant. Rooms are basic which is ideal, its not the sort of place you'll be wanting to stay holed up in your room all week anyway so why pay for gimmicks you won't use? The common areas are well-provisioned, comfortable and friendly. Its just... More

We arrived in late August on a relatively cool 25C day and were greeted by the owners in a friendly manner. It is often too hot to climb the cliffs around El Chorro in August but we were given detailed instructions so we could quickly find some nice sport routes before lunch time. The hostel has all the amenities needed... More

One of my favourite geraway destinations for winter where it is still warm. Truly relaxing, cheap, peaceful and serene it's a place to unwind and enjoy malaga. We did some multipitch climbing and hiking over 2 days and I'm planning another trip back this year. Social vibe is also very good.

We had booked 3 nights at the Olive Branch and stayed 6 ! We would have stayed longer still may that have been possible... It's an easy going place, beautiful location, magnificent lake (mid-august a lake in Andalusia is both a luxury and a necessity). Mel and Garry are great hosts, always available for tips and help, way beyond what... More
