Stayed here for 1 night before heading back to UK in our Campervan. Pitch was ok with electricity, and quite private, toilet block and showers leave a lot to be desired, unclean and very basic, that said I don't suppose it gets used a lot as mostly mobile homes on site. Luckily was only here for one night but it done the job.

Response from Constance G, Guest Relations Manager at La Haie Penee
Responded Sep. 25, 2015
Thank you for your review about our campsite. I am sorry that your stay was not as enjoyable as expected. That's right that we have more mobil-home than pitches but we want to welcome people in tent or caravan as best as possible. I remembered that my mum welcomed you at 6:00 pm, maybe we were the only campsite able to welcome you at this time. We offerd you one of our best pitches. That's right that the sanitaries are not used a lot in September beacuse there is not much people but we still do the cleaning everyday. Furthermore, the weather were not very shiny, so that it was not easy to keep the sanitaries absolutely clean. I apologise that you have seen a bloc sanitary not very clean this day, but it is not our habit. We hope to see you an other day in order to prove you that the sanitary cleaning is one of our priority. Constance

This was advertised on line as a 4 star site. Didn't feel like a holiday site. More like a local site for residential placements and the characters staying were very unsavoury to say the least! They were all at the top of the site as you drove in and you felt like an alien. I know we were probably the only English there, but not a friendly feel. The pool was quite small and head to head with the same people, so we didn't even bother going in. There was supposed to be a bar, but we only noticed it open for 1 afternoon! The reception only sells bottles of pop and milk and the nearest supermarket is 2 miles in Rue. The only entertainment (if you can call it that) was mid week when a booming sound started at 10pm with thumping music and went on until midnight. The only bonus was our caravan was set back in a corner so quite private, but when we looked across the stream behind us, there was another camp that looked like it had been taken over by gypsies. The caravan was just ok - nothing like our previous experiences in France. Having said all this, it was a last minute booking, we had a rest and went out to different places each day, so only used it as a base but would definitely not recommend!! Will definitely be something to talk about in years to come, but not in a good way !!!!
