Rural accommodation in the form of a HOTEL. Only 10 km from Cáceres (World Heritage City). In the capital of the Torta del Casar cheese area. Situated at the crossroads of Vía de la Plata, Cañada Real and The Route to Santiago. Ideal setting for many recommended trips. Originally a cattle and dairy farm. Later it became a bullring and large country house. Its current owners, with careful renovation work, have converted the property into an accommodation offering leisure and relaxation, exclusive and accredited with the “Higher Tourist Category”. The life of this Extremadura farm rotates around a large courtyard.

We stayed one night en route from Portugal to the UK. It is like a little oasis, surrounded by stunning, far reaching countryside views...beautifully clean and with a very comfortable bed. The photos which advertise it, do not do it justice. The English speaking host Victoria is friendly, welcoming, informative and very discreet. She lives on site. Breakfast was served in a lovely courtyard with dappled shade and consisted of local specialities, cereal, tea, croissants, toast, coffee and fresh orange juice. We will definitely return and highly recommend a stay here.

We stayed at this hotel, actually a casa rural with 5 well appointed rooms, at the end of February. We chose this hotel because of its location close to the ruta de la Plata and Caceres. It is situated about 1km outside Casar de Caceres on a quiet road with a good rural dog walking track running for about 1km past the chapel of the Encarnacion.

Our room was in the old stables which had been excellently transformed into bedrooms. There is a comfortable breakfast/ lounge area with local information and tea/coffee making facilities and other drinks and snacks. There is both a sauna and swimming pool.

The owners are justifiably very proud of their hotel. Breakfast is well worth the 8.50 euros giving a real taste of Extremadura. Local honey with olive oil on toast, pork savoury with cheese and melon, organic orange juice, Fruit and dulces. It really filled you up for the rest of the day - Excellent.

Our tip would be don't use sat nav as Tom Tom brought us to the wrong end of the Camino de la Encarnacion. Take the main road into Casar and follow the signs.

The good points : the property is close to the motorway and about half way between Santander and the Costa del Sol. It has secure parking. We had reserved a homemade evening meal which was good.
Now the negatives. Having been quoted 23 euros p.p for dinner, we were charged 25 euros (didn’t notice until we had left). With dinner, my husband had a small beer and I had a 20 cl bottle of cava for which we were charged 12 euros, a rip off in my view.
Breakfast cost 10 euros and was inedible. Another guest (the only other person having breakfast felt similarly). As breakfast juice, we were offered what sounded like peach and pea, which we declined. As an alternative, we were offered orange juice which we accepted gratefully only to discover later that we were charged €5 for this as it wasn’t “on the menu”.
On arrival, we were shown into a guest kitchen where we could make ourselves a drink
and write down what we had consumed. We made ourselves a cup of tea using one tea bag AND washed up after ourselves, for which we were charged 3 euros on leaving.
This a farmhouse with converted stables where the bedrooms are housed. It was February and the room felt cold even though the heating was on and to be fair was left on all night. I had sent two emails asking for a room with a large bed. We were given two single beds. No point asking to change because we were told the hotel was full.
We could have chosen a parador at €89.incl breakfast. Easy to be wise after the event!

If you’re driving from North to Southern Spain it’s an excellent place to stop overnight to break up the journey. The hosts Victoria and Arturo are very friendly and welcoming, plus Victoria speaks very good English. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the bed we had was enormous (Pero Palo room) and if you don’t want to go out to find an evening meal we can highly recommend their light “snacks”. The Mixed salad with Tuna and hard boiled egg was delicious as was the Iberico ham and the mixed International cheeses. They have a Salon (guest area) which is well stocked with teas, coffee, wine, beer etc and works on an “honesty” book basis, which you then pay for at the end of your stay. We would highly recommend choosing this boutique Hotel.

This lovely casa rural is close enough to the city, Caceres, to make it a very enjoyable way to enjoy the best of both worlds: nature, peace and quiet, with the tourist attractions of the provincial capital nearby. The setting is beautiful: trees, stars, birds, a cozy garden where the very friendly, warm owners (named Arturo and Victoria) serve guests Extremaduran treats and have a campfire going in the "pebetero" (a sort of outdoor fireplace). Each room is decorated differently, and each is named after a different local folkloric festival, which we thought was a nice touch (and it was fun hearing the host describe these festivals). Photo below of the one we were in, which is on the ground floor and opens onto the patio. Breakfast room is cute, as coffee lovers we loved the coffee machine, and the other amenities seem very nice, too (pool and spa). Didn't swim this time because of the fall temperatures, but we imagine how nice it would be in warmer months taking a dip while having a sky-full of stars above. This hotel is great for bird-watchers, too.

Also, although there's no restaurant on premise for lunch or dinner, nearby there are several good options, so you don't have to go all the way into the city to dine.

Quality, comfort, tranquility, nature, warm and friendly Extremaduran hospitality by the owners are what make this place a great choice if you're visiting Caceres but want a more personal experience in peaceful surroundings.

We stayed here for our last nigh of our Spanish trip. It met all our expectations. Lovely rooms with comfortable beds. We went for the full experience of dinner and breakfast. Great. The wine on offer was excellent as well. Pool was perfect for a hot day and a most enjoyable evening watching the shooting stars. Fabulous! Thank you !

We stayed here on our way down to Malaga - the accommodation was easy to find and in a wonderful location just out of the town. The views are fabulous. We were welcomed by Victoria, who showed us round the property - swimming pool, salon and kitchen with soft drinks and wine, and our room, which was spacious and comfortable. Plenty of hot water, soft towels, and toiletries.we enjoyed a bottle of Rioja in the garden. Breakfast was served by Victoria - local specialities - and delicious. A great stop over.

PROS
Very helpful owners to ensure a pleasant stay.
Comfortable beds
Incredible shower
Very clean and well maintained property
Self service refreshment/bar room well stocked.
Continental Breakfast is a must, a wonderful selection of local produce and lovingly served.
Price per night is inline with local hotels as per pet supplement.

CONS
As it is located in a rural area it can be very noisy with farm animals especially during the night. Dogs howling and barking. Closing all windows will help deafen the noise.

Externally, pets are only allowed in the driveway and courtyard. We couldn’t enjoy these areas without worry of our dogs urinating which is strictly prohibited. You have to take your dogs out on to a main road which isn’t ideal as there are no footpaths.

We stayed on a Monday night and had to travel to Cáceres for an evening meal as very little choice locally. It’s about a 15 minute drive and good selection of restaurants.

August 2022 government consumption regulations no longer authorize air conditioners. The room can get warm so windows have to be left open all night which isn’t ideal due to the noise from the rural surroundings.

The property has a very large dog which is tied up in the courtyard and could upset your dog if you want to enjoy this area.

Owners are very helpful and live on-site. I would agree with other reviews that they can be to helpful. We felt we were being watched all the time.

FEEDBACK TO THE OWNERS
Create a section in the rear garden so pets can enjoy a bit of freedom safely with their owners.

Leave milk in the bar fridge so guests can enjoy a tea/coffee anytime.

If you’re charging €20 supplement per pet, make the pets feel welcome and even a small treat/gift for them.

Let guest enjoy the property without being approached all the time.

You have a wonderful property and product but unfortunately we wouldn’t return.

Perfect place to spend the night while walking the VDLP. The room was large, immaculately clean, decorated nicely, and bed was comfortable.

The hosts could not have been nicer. I had half board, so I was privileged to be able to take advantage of a well crafted dinner and a delightful outside dining experience.
