We were tying to cross the border and ran into difficulties beyond our control and when I tried to cancel, the owner refused. Once we did cross the border I checked out the B&B and I would not have wanted to stay there anyway. It was in the middle of no where, the house looked unkept, there was no place to park , etc. The pwner was rude and completely insensitive to our problem. Don't stay there- it looked horrible and the pictures are misleading.
After reading all the reviews, we were a little sceptical of what to expect. Yes, the two to the bedrooms are upstairs and the spiral staircase (is beautiful) can be a little tricky to navigate, but nothing one can't cope with. We were fortunate that when we stayed there, we were the only family booking a room that night, so there were no issues waiting for the bathroom or with privacy. I can imagine that when all three room are filled with families, that the place can get a little crowded. The couple that owns the house do live in one of the upstairs bedrooms, so yes, there are around a lot, but I never felt that my privacy wasn't intruded upon. We didn't use the tv, but I expect the owner would have allowed us to watch what we wanted to watch. The couple that do own the place are extremely friendly and helpful and were more than willing to spend as much time with us, telling us about the various things to do and places to eat in the area. Check-in was smooth as they were waiting for us when we arrived and offered to help us with our bags if needed. In short, I would definitely recommend this place, but our opinion is probably a little skewed because we were fortunate to be there off peak and have the place to our own.…
The house is absolutely nice It's tidy and super cozy but owners don't give you privacy at all. It felt like they watched every step of ours and acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there. Quite disappointed because when you pay that much money per night you shouldn't be feeling like you're not welcome.
We stayed here for 3 nights and it was a lovely comfortable place to come after a long day hiking on the Bruce Trail. We enjoyed the deck facing the water and the full breakfasts, served at whatever time we asked for, and being able to use the fridge and kitchen for our groceries and making our packed lunches. This is a traditional BnB with shared kitchen and bathrooms. Nice atmosphere, lovely hosts.
The owners are a very nice couple with a very nice large home right on Lake Huron. The breakfast was good. But... There are some major issues: (1) Price is extremely high - one person wrote "it was over-priced"- I think this is really an understatement. (2) Privacy- when I pay good money for an hotel room, I pay first of all for PRIVACY!!!- there is no privacy in this place. (3) Shared bathroom- this may be acceptable for a dormitory but not for what they are selling. Moreover, there are two bathrooms, both downstairs, with only one having a shower. With a number of guests in the home that put pressure on us to finish quickly the showers (with the kids) and to "get it over with". (4) Spiral staircase- our room was upstairs, one have to go up and down on a very tight spiral staircase, made particularly difficult with a suitcase and the fact that you are in stocking feet because you have taken your shoes off at the door (making it critical to hold on in case of slipping); Moreover, since both washrooms are downstairs, when the kids had to go to the washroom, I had to escort them because I was afraid they will slip in the staircase when alone. Bottom line: it was extremely over-priced, especially provided all these mentioned issues. Although, the hosting couple are genuinely nice and all, I do not feel that we've received a good value for our money.…
The owners are a nice couple with a very nice large home right on Lake Huron. The breakfast was a nice omelette, various kinds of fruit and breads and juice and the fact that it was on a paper plate with plastic utensils (mentioned by others) did not impact my feelings one way or another. The biggest issues are: (1) that for those with a room upstairs, you have to go up and down a very tight spiral staircase, made particularly difficult with a suitcase and the fact that you are in stocking feet because you have taken your shoes off at the door (making it critical to hold on in case of slipping); and (2) there are two bathrooms, both downstairs, with only one having a shower. With a number of guests in the home that put pressure on my wife who ultimately skipped a shower rather than deal with time pressures on the bathroom. It was over-priced, particularly given the prior two issues. I would not book again because of those issues, but for those not bothered by those issues, I would highly recommend it.…
My partner and I recently stayed at Dreamland II for a couple days in August. From start to finish it was a perfect mini vacation! The hosts are incredible people who are more than willing to help out. They are very knowledgeable about the area and will assist you in any way possible. The added bonus, they make an excellent breakfast! Omelettes, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea etc. Everything you could ask for in a b&b! And it doesn’t hurt that the view from their deck is spectacular. We will definitely be booking with them again! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Pros: Beautiful view. Sat on Deck playing cards during lovely sunset. Accomodating hosts when we required ice and needed to plug in our cooler. Shared bath, but only 2 other guests besides us, so not a problem. Cons: Too costly for average breakfast served on paper plates with plastic cutlery! Not acceptable for $180/night. As already mentioned, very narrow spiral staircase to second floor could be precarious for someone older or with physical limitations, especially when trying to carry cases.
Plus: view Cons: overpriced for shared bath among 8 guests, no bath on second floor with only dangerous spiral staircase access, no privacy, mediocre breakfast on paper/srtrofoam plates with plastic utensils, uninviting building. Should have been wary when there was no picture of the place on website!
I spend much of my life travelling and customer service to me is everything. My wife and I recently spent a night at the Dreamland II B&B and I can say without reservation that this was truly an enjoyable experience. The owners by far get it. They understand the meaning behind how to treat a customer and by truly deliver on providing the level of customer service and interaction that makes a stay memorable. Though they don't have a lot of experience running a B&B you wouldn't know it. Great location, Great Views, Great Hospitality and all of these equate to a great experience. When in the Tobermory area this is where you want to stay.
