Detailed Reviews
We booked over the phone, a few weeks in advance, and stayed two nights in waterfront cabin #2, which has 3 bedrooms. The location was superb, directly across from the fire pit and the docks. The cabin was extremely clean. It has a nice open kitchen / dining / living room (with a fire place). Bedrooms were a decent size, and one was quite large. Bathroom was fine, and very clean. There is a deck across the entire front, with a brand new Weber grill, which we used. Wifi wasn’t very strong, and the TV doesn’t have a lot of channels, but that’s likely not what you’re there for.
The property was very quiet, during labour day week. I think maybe only four cabins were occupied. Weather wasn’t good enough for swimming, but they really have a lot of amenities, with a very nice pool. We did use their complimentary kayaks, with new life jackets. It’s a beautiful place to kayak.
We fished off the docks, but had no luck. Next time we will hire a guide to take us out fishing. We saw people come back with huge fish, which they cleaned and filleted at the fish hut.
Ashley at the front desk was very helpful. Firewood was provided free of charge! Chairs around the fire pit were new and comfy. Overall I would highly recommend this place, and hope to visit again!

Just came back from our family vacation at Pleasant Cove. We have made the trip there numerous times with our growing sons, their friends, and some of our relatives before and we keep coming back. This time, we came with the entire set of sons and their families, 10 of us. We occupied the two beach front cottages and had the best vacation ever. The grand sons were learning to fish from their expert uncle, the grand daughter enjoying the pool and hot tub. The new beach front cottage was spacious enough to enjoy the evening together every night. Only regret was the no open fire restriction this year and missed out on our s'more party, but all the other upgrades more than made up for it. This place used to be more for fishing only, but it is now also very family friendly, even for younger children. Keep up the good job of maintaining this resort! My sons may keep coming back here even after we are gone!

We stayed at pleasant cove for a week with two families. well run and very clean resort. lots to do. the kids had a great time. the one thing that we didn't like was the swimming in the bay - very weedy. didn't seem to bother the little ones though. overall, a very relaxing week.

Booked for 4 persons for 2 days and charged $570. Asked about layout and stated 2 young children and may have one extra adult. Confirmed extra person will pay $25 per night but no charge for children and I need to bring sleeping bags for the two children. Arrived and was told that each person over 1 year old had to pay $25 per night extra even with no beds for them; owner ended up charging 6 persons. with a total bill of $757.10 with taxes for 2 nights. Not recommended to anyone with young children, it is NOT worth it. The facility is good, but not comparable to resort like Taboo. It is simply too expensive, and I felt short changed. It is not clearly indicated in the website how children over 1 will be charged.

I've never reviewed a holiday location but had to write following our stay here. We stayed at Pleasant Cove for a week after having been let down by another resort in the area. It's a great location, truly stunning views and the facilties (pool, hut tub, boat included in the rental etc.) were first class.
Throughout our stay we were very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of all of the employees and the owners - nothing was too much trouble. When they learned it was our daughters' birthday, they really went our of their way to help us celebrate it.
We were in one of the cottage suites located above the main area and it was well equipped and spotlessly clean.
I'd thoroughly recommend it for a relaxing family holiday.

Accom: 5 stars. We stayed in the Managers Quarters, the largest accommodation at the resort. It was huge - the living room and kitchen are as big if not bigger than they look on the website. The master bedroom was also huge as was the ensuite. The beds were without doubt the most comfortable I've slept in outside of luxury hotels in Europe and they were no less comfortable than those beds. I always bring my own pillow but I didn't need to use it - v. comfortable. We couldn't have been happier with the accommodations. The kitchen was great to cook in. We had 8 people in our party for 3 nights and we were well accommodated.
Beach - 5 stars - great - nice little floating dock, paddleboad and canoe plus something like a kayak that had flotation thingys on the sides. They lend you life jackets although I'd bring one for a toddler or child under 4. Lots of pails and shovels for the kids on the beach. Looks like they groom the beach once a week. The first 5-6 feet are cleared of plants and the mucky stuff that feels it wraps around your legs when swimming in a lake. Beach is sandy - not rocky. Kids loved it.
Childrens play equipment - 1 star. They should definitely invest in a decent playground structure. What they have on the beach and up by the tennis courts was old, tired and sub-standard.
Tennis courts - awesome! We used it as a giant playpen - took some balls up and the kids chased them all around. It was great that you could book it as well.
Location - Pointe au Baril is beautiful but very isolated. There's nothing to do outside the resort. There's also nothing other than bowling to do in Parry Sound. We went to the mini golf/helicopter rental place and it was closed.
Laundry facilities - great. Very convenient.
Other - they will rent you videos - we were a bit disappointed they charged $5 to borrow a video - all other places just lend them to you. Bit cheap.
Value for money - our vacation was the first day of the fall season so the price fell from $2395 (summer rate) to $1663 (autumn rate.) I wouldn't pay $2395 for a week but I think the fall rate is excellent value for money.
Kids club - they charged $15 per child for 3 hours but gave a discount if you registered more than one child. The girl who ran it was great. I thought it good value.
Pool - great - heated, clean, well-maintained.
Fitness room - didn't use it but checked it out. Not much cardio equipment - no treadmill but I think I saw an eliptical machine.
We had a really wonderful, family vacation. The resort is clean, well-maintained and the units are furnished with quality furnishings (not cheap plastic chairs like you see in lots of cottage rental places.) All the adults got time to themselves to relax, read, sleep and the kids had a blast on the beach, paddling in the paddle boat and kayak-like boat thing. We are planning to go back next year - I feel relaxed just thinking about it!
If I was going to make any suggestions to the owners it would be in order of priority:
1. Invest in a decent playground structure or two - one on the beach and one by the tennis courts
2. Offer childcare services/babysitting (for a fee) - for parents who'd like an hour or two off.
3. Make video rental free

If you are looking for a comfortable well maintained lodge this is your place. Unfortunately Georgian Bay has serious issues with fish availbaility and it shows here. Few fish and small when you can find them.

Only stayed two nights but will definitely be back!
Stayed in Suite B, very clean, 1st floor but great views still. Room is updated, full kitchen with cutlery etc, very nice room. Great sandy beach for kids to play, canoes/kayaks, boat rentals, outdoor pool, fire pits. Our son LOVED the resort, stayed busy all the time and loved the beach area. Quiet at night, relax by the fire and forget about city life !. No wifi which is GOOD, keeps everyone off their phones etc and more time to enjoy the outdoors. Pool was a little on the cold side both days but lake was warmer for a swim. Great views from all over the resort, especially by the sauna overlooking the bay. Family run resort, great people, great staff..........rent a boat and take the kids fishing, this resort has it all !.

This was our first stay at Pleasant Cove Cottage Resort. We arrived on Labor Day and had the entire resort practically to ourselves for the whole week. Samantha coordinates the front office and is awesome! She upgraded our room as there was construction occurring right next to the cottage we had originally rented. She was there to answer all of our questions. I loved starting each morning with a cup of coffee looking at the gorgeous view of the Georgian Bay. One day we hired a fishing guide named Jim who was wonderful and took us all around the bay. The pool and hot tub were great! We loved the fire pits too and had a great time meeting other people during the evenings around the fire. One thing I will say is that I was glad we brought up some groceries for the week - there isn't much in regards to food around that area. The cafe up the road is pretty good and the trading post is full of treasures. We can't wait to come back next summer!
