My daughter, the two dogs and I stayed at this wonderful hotel for a couple of nights to recharge our batteries, and what a perfect place it was for a happy, relaxed stay. The room (number 9) was so comfortable, with luxurious bed linen, and trendy soft furnishings, we were overjoyed. We booked dinner for our second night, and as the day had been very warm and we had simply relaxed by the lake, we asked if we could dine outside, of course we could, nothing is too much trouble for these hosts. The food was absolutely delicious. We have booked to return, that’s how great it was. Top value for money and I would recommend Greenbanks to everyone, but to ensure we can always get a room, I think I should keep it a secret!

Wheelchair-friendly room; excellent food, Chef happy to do vegetarian food, and in small portions; although room housekeeping not available due to Covid restrictions, we only had to ask for supplies of tea, coffee, shower gel etc, and it was provided. Staff all very pleasant & friendly. Recycle bin in room as well as rubbish bin - never seen that before, and was impressed.

I was really impressed with our stay at the Greenbanks hotel, having stayed in a variety of hotels over the years, some things really stood out to me. There were sockets beside the bed, two areas to sit with a desk and mirror for make up, an extension lead, a fan in every room, plus the combination of a normal bin and a recycling bin. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly, the only downside I’d say was the shower being attached really low above the bath meaning you’d have to sit in the bath to wash, so perhaps they can rectify this by putting the shower head higher on the wall.

Stayed for two nights recently in order to go to a wedding at a nearby venue. We stayed in a room outside the main accommodation. On arrival the room smelt musty and damp but that improved once the room was aired. Everything was clean and the room had a fridge and microwave and kettle. Cups, plates and cutlery provided but curiously despite the fridge, no glasses. Can only presume that was due to their being an on site restaurant and bar.

It seems that the owners do not clean the rooms during your visit but do reserve the right to enter the room to turn off electrical equipment and there were some strong reminders and do and don’t s in the room booklet.

We ate in the restaurant and the food was good although food and drink seemed pricey for the environment.

Our full English breakfast was ok, although bacon was thin and any continental offer seemed just to consist of cereal. What was disappointing, bearing in mind that the venue is often used as accommodation for guests attending nearby weddings, was breakfast was only from 8am to 9 am on Saturday and 8.30 am to 9.30 am on Sunday, so no real lie in after the wedding.

Room cost £272 for two nights and with a two course dinner for two with a bottle of wine and a couple of drinks after dinner came to another £100 or so . All in all it seemed quite a pricey stay for an area which did not seem to have much to offer apart from the wedding venue

We arrived early before check in after a very long drive and they kindly let us check in early. We was shown to our room by a really lovely lady who was super helpful and kind. The room was lovely. Nice comfy bed, warm, with a radiator controlled by yourself, nice dressing table area and large tv.
The bathroom was down one very large step, slightly dangerous if you’ve had a few too many drinks lol. The bathroom was a bath only with a shower head. Which was manageable for me and my hubby but just bare in mind. The staff and the accommodation was lovely but my reasons for the 3 star rating as as follows. The noise. You can hear everything and everyone in the main building. I believe there are 4 rooms in the main building, the others are accessed by outside. We was in room 1 and could literally hear EVERYTHING coming from I believe room 4. I could hear voices plan as day. Walking up and down the room. I could even hear the magnetic strip in the wardrobe when the wardrobe was closed. I could hear the bath running. The pipes in the building are so loud, so until about midnight when everyone has gone to sleep you can hear everything, hot water, toilets flushing, voices, the noise of the restaurant downstairs. Also there was mould in our kettle, which I made them aware about when checking out, but things like this happen and if the last occupants haven’t made them aware, there is a good chance they may not know. Really lovely hotel, but quite over priced in my opinion. Staff were amazing. Rooms lovely. Noises a huge letdown. Breakfast was very simple but the girls working it made it seem hard work. Offering some people some things and others not. It was like once more than 4 people were in the restaurant they seemed like they couldn’t cope. We had to ask for pretty much everything rather than been offered. But it was a nice breakfast.

We stayed here for my daughter's wedding which was held at Curds Hall Barn just 2 miles down the road. I cannot recommend Greenbanks highly enough, everything was perfect. 8 of us stayed in rooms 7, 8 and 9 which were all very comfortable and well equipped. I would particularly recommend room 9 where my 3 year old grandson had his own bed in the gallery area above the main bedroom which he loved and he thought it was a great adventure. These rooms were not in the main hotel but outside in a small courtyard. Each had their own outside furniture and some had views of the lake. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Outside there are views across the countryside and a beautiful lake and plenty of wildlife. I wish we had stayed longer as we were busy with the wedding and didn't have time to explore. Do be aware that you need to book the swimming pool. We tried to book a week in advance but it was already fully booked. Luckily my daughter was able to book my son in law and grandson in for a swim when she arrived.

We were attending my sons wedding nearby so the location was perfect.
We stayed in room 8 which was great as it is a self contained apartment and Julie gave us a great rate as there were only 2 of us using the room, it was really handy to have our own fridge.
Breakfast was delicious, we didnt have dinner there.
The room was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, only one small gripe, the towels were very small, proper bath towels would be a great improvement.
Julie was always prompt in replying to my many email queries and was so helpful.
Highly recommended.

I had the most perfect stay at Greenbanks at the weekend for my 50th birthday with my 2 best friends and it couldn't have been better. Julie and team were the ultimate hosts with a relaxed and super friendly approach. It felt like nothing was too much trouble and I was so impressed by their thoughtful touches such as letting my friend into our room to decorate it with birthday banners before my arrival and letting us check in early as our room was ready. Thank you for making me feel so special too with the lovely birthday card and little bottle of fizz in the room.
Our room was beautiful, clean and perfect in that the 3 of us could stay together. All the better for a proper girly gossip experience! The room's facilities were excellent and practical.
The restaurant was beautiful and the food was just lovely. Special thanks to the chef who was so amiable and accommodating and offered lots of lovely vegetarian options to my friend. It made a refreshing change from just being offered risotto! The surprise complimentary birthday cake was...... the icing on the cake! Thank you.
I felt that the hotel was fabulous value for money. The service was exemplary, the grounds beautiful and full of nature. We enjoyed an evening walk around the fishing lake and really enjoyed toasting marshmallows around the fire pit which was another extra added touch making it a very memorable experience.
Thank you Julie and team for a most wonderful stay.

We have just returned from a four day stay at this hotel, it's unusual layout being explained by its history. We stayed with friends, one of whom is a wheelchair user, and she found the facilities excellent, with disabled car parking almost outside the door of her room and a flat path leading to the dining room. We stayed in Room 9 which was large and airy, with a very comfortable super-king bed. This room also has an upstairs 'snug' with another TV, but we had no need to make use of this, particularly as the weather was lovely during out stay. Our room also had a good sofa, lots of storage and surfaces for 'things'. The bathroom was a decent size with a walk-in shower and a long shelf for toiletries. In addition we had a small kitchenette area with micro-wave, fridge and cutlery and plates sufficient to be able to cater for ourselves if we wished or at least have breakfast. All in all very spacious. Our friend's husband very much enjoyed the swimming pool and did not mind having to book in advance and wear a swimming hat. Behind the hotel is a lovely area full of flowers at this time of year and then a delightful small lake that we walked around many times. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel every night because the food was so good! Alex, the chef/owner often cooked specials in addition to the short menu and we could pick and choose items from the dishes. The dining room is pleasant but lacking in natural light. Staff were all charming, friendly and helpful.
The only downside I found was the traffic noise when sitting at the tables and chairs outside the room, but we were not disturbed at night, even with the windows open as it was so hot (fans provided in the rooms). There is charging for electric cars (we have one).

What a lovely stay we had at Greenbanks. We were at a family wedding in Little Fransham down the road. The room was lovely and we were made to feel very welcome. We had a breakfast which was delicious and the staff were very accomodating and friendly and coudn't do enough for you to make your stay relaxing. They made the 2 rooms available for early check-in so we could get ready for a wedding which was great as we have travelled from the Midlands. We would definately recommend and we would stay again. We didn't have time to use the pool facilites but this did look lovely. An excuse to visit again in the future.

Dear Jo, The table in the dining area has four chairs around it; there is another chair in the bedroom that can also be used. Hopefully, the weather will be nice and you will be able to sit out on the patio area, as there is space for eight at the table outside, however, If the weather looks like it's not going to be favourable, we can look at the option of moving two of our tables from the restaurant to the accommodation, which would provide more seating.
