We stayed a week at the Pines on Boshkung Lake and were welcomed by our hosts Leann and Dave who were very down the earth and friendly. This was our second visit and we had a blast. We stayed in cottage #4 The Chipmunk. It had everything needed for the stay & was very clean with a beautiful view of the lake. The beach had many water activities including kayaks & canoes & paddle boats & a water trampoline. There was a lovely deck overlooking the water with a screened in gazebo for nights when the bugs were biting. There was more than enough day trips including Ragged Falls on Oxtongue river & a quaint town called Dorset nearby. Peaceful and tranquil and restful where the smell of fresh air mingled with pine are just what was needed and was found at the Pines on Boshkung Lake.

We just returned from our second stay (stayed same week in 2019). We have been renting cottages/cabins for over 20 years and we have NEVER been back to the same place twice but we just loved the Pines on Boshkung so much we had to come back. We were in the Chickadee the first year and the Lookout this year. The cabins are clean and spotless with everything inside that you could possibly need for your stay. The sandy beachfront is beautiful and has a lots of different spaces for you and your family to chill. They have floating docks, water trampolines, rowboats, paddle boats, kayaks and canoes. There are hiking trailes just down the road with great views of all the surrounding lakes. Dave and Leann are amazing hosts and even helped us to get our broken down seadoo up to shore and on the trailer safely after a little mishap. This place will not disapoint!!

10 side-by-sides/4 wheelers left The Pines on Boshkung at 11 am on September 30th with a guide provided by the owners, Dave & LeeAnn Crete. We had an awesome day on the trails finding lots of challenges and seeing many signs of wildlife and enjoying the beautiful fall colours.
Perhaps it was the gorgeous weather that put us all in a great mood, but I believe it was the clean quaint cabins we stayed at and the wonderful hospitality that LeeAnn & Dave provided. Everything was perfect.....even the sunset!
I would highly recommend staying at this resort. The bonfires, the beautiful beach area and lake and the comfortable beds will make your heart smile!

My husband and I stayed for two nights (June 10 & 11, 2016) in Cabin 4 - Chipmunk. The cabins all have views of the lake, which is so beautiful. The water is so clear and there is a nice shallow beach area. There are many staircases down to the water, making it very accessible. There are a couple of docks to lounge on and many chairs available. The docks have a perfect view of a lovely sunset.

Our cabin was very clean with a fully stocked kitchen.

Leanne and Dave are gracious and friendly hosts who do their best to make your stay comfortable.

We ate at the Peppermill one night and it was very good.

We highly recommend this resort.

This is an amazing place, we had a two night stay in the two bedroom cabin it was spotless and cozy with a wood burning fire place that kept the cabin toasty when we were in. The fishing in the area is great and the owners Terri and Chris were very helpful with recommendations for food and activities. We did eat at Rhubarb which was exceptional, I am city foody and I was truly impressed.

Had an amazing getaway to The Pines on Boshkung! Went for a last minute 2 nights midweek getaway with little expectations and was treated with great hospitality from Terry and Chris. Of course it helped that we had amazing weather, late spring after a long winter, and recent flooding in the Minden,Haliburton area. Our cottage was just right with a barbecue outside and a fireplace outside to sit by while gazing at the stars. A lovely sundeck to watch the beautiful sunset and the stillness of the tranquil Boshkung lake. We took advantage of the kayak and the second day used their row boat for a trip to Buttermilk falls, aww breathtaking. Terry and Chef Chris are the owners of a wonderful restaurant, 20 minute drive from the cottages, in Eagle Lake, Rhubarb. Quite an amazing dinner, with a beautiful view with floor to ceiling window of natural scenery.
The meal was simply delicious, just perfect. We started off with warm bread with a lovely artichoke and feta spread, loved the fresh snipped dill , shared an appetizer of a crabcake and shrimp with romesco sauce, light and delicious. My entree was Pickerel with lemon, chive butter just gorgeous a and delight to my tastebuds. Chris' beef tenderloin with broiled shrimp was devine, he barely let me have any. We waited a bit before dessert to savour the lasting flavours on our palate, Yum! For dessert I had molten, chocolate cake with delicious vanilla ice cream with drizzled maple syrup, no sharing with Chris and he had the maple ,pear crème brûlée. The coffee was splendid as well.
My only worry is too many people will discover this gem and wonderful hosts that the serenity, calmness, and solitude will be foresaken for there being more people to take that away, but they deserve the accolades, and success of loyal guests like ourselves who will be returning and spreading the word to others. Thanks Terry and Chris ,we had an unforgettable getaway, good luck but when you get solid booked , please don't forget us, as we will always remember! Cheers, Helena and Chris

This Ice fishing trip was a gift for my Fiancee and our friends and it was the most amazing weekend! Four of us slept great, fished every morning bright and early thanks to the curtious hosts Marie Claire and Peter and their transportation, and caught more fish then we could count! The private hottub provided for us in Cabin #1 was a fabulous end to each fishing day! We will certainly be visiting as soon as possible, no would be dissappointed with this vacation spot, the Hosts and Ruby's are AWESOME! -J.M.

We just returned from a beautiful 2 night stay at Rubys Cottages.

We went as a group from work to do some ice fishing................
The cottage (number 7) was very nice and close to the main hot-tub. The hot-tub room was well done and very well maintained and beautifully enclosed for warmth in the coldest weather...Of course the 101 temp helps.
The cottages have everything you would need and Peter even takes you out to the ice huts or you can walk(10 min's ) to the huts and he drills the holes and provides bait and everything you need to catch fish. We caught 4 trout but returned them as two were lake breeders and two were smaller so we decided to return them for next year. Fishing was slower than normal we were told but we really enjoyed the area and the quiet.
The lake has mostly White fish and Lake trout. Check which ones you can keep first so you know ...They give you MNR chart to have and have your licence up to date.

Beautiful location right off Hwy 35 (easy to get to ) and very quiet....
You can hear a pin drop at times....It was so relaxing we hated to leave.
The cottage is very warm and has a great view of the lake and the boat house is just down a short flight of stairs which contains a games room with another TV and table tennis with a games table to have fun.
What a heavenly view from here ...Do they rent that ? They don't but very beautiful and is all done in pine and smells wonderful.

The owners are wonderful people and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
I will be returning to enjoy some summer time with the kids this summer as well.

Recommended with no worries.........
It is a beautiful setting and clean cottages on a nice waterfront.....The pictures tell me they have a great beach also in the summer.

What else could you want ?
ENJOY !!

Our family stayed at Ruby's Cottages from July 1 to July 4 - beautiful glorious days on Boshkung Lake. It was our first time cottaging - we are city mice. But when I think of what the big fuss is all about being "up at the cottage", now I know and understand why.

Ruby's Cottages is what comes to mind when I daydream about Canadian summers... peaceful, private, relaxing, stunning. We had gracious hosts - always available, but not overbearing! During our stay we were blessed with sunshine, fresh air, beautiful trees, warm breezes - our own piece of paradise. Take a look at the photos we took - a picture is worth a thousand words.

We stayed at "Loon's Nest" cottage, the one right over the games room - perfect for a family with 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We dined by the cottage's window which frames the lake perfectly. We felt right at home. Our daughter and her friend loved the lake, the jacuzzi, sleeping in, wandering around, talking all night long, creating a 'super bed' out of two beds. Everything at the cottage was clean, and smoke-free (fantastic!)

I don't understand the previous review regarding the alleged bigotry of the owners! Our family is representative of what Canadian multiculturalism is - My husband was born in Canada, I immigrated with my family from the Philippines, my daughter's biological father is Jamaican, and her friend is Peruvian. Never once did we feel unwelcome.

Peter and Marie-Claire are lovely hosts, and so lucky to have this property. Your search is over - book with them. You won't regret it.
