The archaeological site of Palenque is one of my favorite places in Mexico and you will find nothing that resembles Boutique Hotel Quinta Chanabnal for your visit. It stands in a lovingly preserved patch of jungle that has gained the approval of a variety of wildlife, which the attentive traveler will be able to see up close, including a family of howler monkeys. The one-storied buildings integrate beautifully with their wild surroundings and one is constantly reminded of the ancient Maya in the gardens and in the vast dining room through a variety of exquisite modern carvings in the old Maya style, whose texts tell the history of the place. (In fact, the owner is an invaluable source of information about the Maya in general and Palenque and its surroundings in particular, if you want to go deeper into the subject.) In terms of comfort, nothing beats coming back from a hot day at the ruins and find yourself at this oasis with a cold drink in your hand. Or taking a dip in the small pool that sits by the natural pond in the back of the property. The rooms are ample and comfortable and filled with elegant but unpretentious details, including beautiful local handmade textiles decorating the beds. The hotel is also very conveniently located on the road to the archaeological site, which makes it easy to move either with your own car or using the frequent public vans that make the run between the town and the ruins. I cannot recommend it enough.

The hotel is on the way to the ruinas , outside of the town of Palenque , but easy to find ( having a rented car makes life easier ). It's a small hotel nestled in the "jungle", built in mayan style and really luxury.Huge rooms and bathrooms ,clean and equipped with all what you need including minibar with softdrinks and beer (!) free of charge ( we stayed in a deluxe suite ).For breakfast we ordered "american style" ,there is an extra cost of ( if I remember well ) 10 US$ ,very good.Behind the restaurant is a huge lake ( birds !) and a wonderful pool area and surprise , surprise in the hotel area lives a group of howler monkeys! Service is perfect , all staff are friendly and helpful and in the evening the hotel owner ( a german/italian native ) is always ready to speak with the guests and he has a very good knowledge about the mayans. The restaurand is offering mayan and italian food ( with some german taste ) , well presented and full of flavour). If you go to Palenque , book this hotel , it's not cheap , but worth to stay there " it's an experience"

Sometimes you find a pearl when you expected the least. Wonderful service, you feel the presence of the owner (and you see him). Special & unique set up: the rooms, the pool, the decor (Maya honestly done), the surroundings (Selva like) including independent monkeys. A joy.

My husband and I decided to stay in this hotel as we were looking to stay near the Palenque ruins. We booked four night and we just loved everyday we stayed. The service is exceptional, Misael was an amazing server and took care of us, made us feel like home. Mr. Fernando the owner of the hotel took the time to greet his guests while having dinner. He is always making sure his guests are taken care of. We booked a Deluxe Suite since we were traveling with our two teenage daughters. If you are looking to stay in the middle of the jungle with superb service. Then this is the place. Rooms are exceptionally clean and very well maintained. Know this is a unique boutique hotel, it has the Mayan architecture, yet modern. We just loved it and hope to return in a few years. Wish we could stay longer.....
