Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Jewel Palm Beach hotel dazzles with its well-maintained beaches and array of pools, as guests have called out the comprehensive amenities and the variety of food and drink options available. While the service garners high marks for staff attentiveness and efficiency, some travelers express reservations about the value, citing steep prices for extras and room issues. Cleanliness is a strong suit, with most areas well-kept, though the rooms' outdated decor and maintenance woes are noted. The vibrant atmosphere, complete with lively entertainment, compensates for the occasional critique of loud music and dated aesthetics.

Had an enjoyable vacation at Jewel Palm Beach. The food was very good - never really had a bad meal, albeit a few cold dishes. The pools are pristine. Most of the staff were incredibly nice and friendly - a few had bad attitudes, specifically at Jade and the Mexican restaurant. The drinks are their biggest downfall. You can only get top shelf liquor in the Club lounges and that's if they don't run out. They also measure all liquor so you have to ask for additional hooch. The rooms were a bit run down. This is not really a 4+ star resort, more like a 3+ star resort. Also, they are not clear as to what is being offered both at the buffet and activities list. A few times we asked about a listed event and were advised it wasn't happening. There was a sign at the buffet - Make your own chicken caesar salad - there was no chicken and you couldn't get it that day. Still had a nice trip but it was a bit confusing at times.

Hotel's Favourite
I went with my husband to our first all inclusive for this trip. we had a wonderful experience. Any of the little details that were bothersome don’t seem worth mentioning, but I will include them. Upon arrival we were taken to the club member lounge for check in. It was a very hot day, so this was nice because the main lobby is an open air lobby and it was still quite warm and the members lounge was air-conditioned. Even if we had not been brought to the member lounge the main lobby itself is very lovely and has many nice seating areas and there is a lobby bar in which they bring you very refreshing drinks during your check-in process. The staff takes your luggage for you and gives you a ticket so that you can focus on getting checked in and they hold your luggage until you have been given a room. This is the same whether you are club member or checking in via the main lobby. When we got to the member lounge, we did not have to take our luggage with us as they kept it at the bell hop stand. The member lounge adults only is very nice. Once again, it is air conditioned and there is a nice bar along with seating areas, tables, and a hors d’oeuvres section where they refresh snacks and hors d’oeuvres all day long. We were greeted with two nice glasses of champagne by Yogina. Our experience going to the members club lounge each day we were there was very pleasant. Yogina is a terrific bartender, and has a very sweet and genuine, fun disposition. I love that she’s always smiling and does a little dance when she’s making her drinks. She comes from very far to work at this resort and I am so glad she does because she made our experience there so nice. Many times before going to dinner at the restaurants we would stop by the member lounge to have her make us a drink to take with us. (Pro tip… always get a drink from one of the bars before going to the restaurants. The staff at the restaurants don’t generally act quickly in getting drinks and a couple of times we weren’t successful getting the drinks we asked for when seated at a restaurant. It’s much easier to just get them and bring them to dinner with you, so you’re not waiting. That would be one of the little bothersome details of the trip but again, it really didn’t take away from our whole experience. ) Emilio was our next favorite club area staff member. He was so sweet and kind and would go out of his way to make sure that he opened the door for you, took a picture for you,got a drink for you or anything you needed. He was just great. We loved when he would say “Echellente!” The pools at the resort are great. Of course the main pool with the swim up bar seemed to be the most popular, but all areas of the pools were very nicely kept and enjoyable. We had a members only adult only pool right next to our building and it was very quiet and pleasant but if we wanted that party vibe we would go to the main pool. There is also a lazy river type pool that wasn’t very crowded and had many chairs around it available most of the time and we would frequent that as well. There is also a family, members only pool and that was also very nice and clean and right next to the family all ages, club lounge and the two palms grill. It was nice being able to kind of pool hop depending on what vibe we were looking for. The staff walking around the pool areas always make sure that they are taking your empty glasses and asking if you would like another drink and provide you with towels. One of the little brother some details I would say is that there were a few different times they try to upsell dinners on the beach and lobster dinners so even when you are relaxing by one of the pools, we were interrupted a couple of times by staff trying to upsell those Meals. They were nice enough to not push too hard, but I still felt like I had to say no more than once to the same person. All of the meals at this resort are all inclusive. You do not need to make reservations at any of the restaurants or the Buffet. If they were a bit busy, you would get a little pager that would buzz when your table was ready. They do not have a super strict dress code. They just ask that you be dry, have a pair of shoes on, and no swimsuit attire in the restaurants. This includes the Buffet. You cannot go in with a swimsuit or a see-through swimsuit cover-up. We did see that everyone seemed to get dressed up to go to the à la carte restaurants. Going to the Buffet through the day was a lot more casual and people would go in from the pools to the Buffet but just be sure you’re wearing appropriate swim coverups and are dry. One of the member benefits is that you get to eat at the two Palms Grill right near the beach and that is for members only for breakfast and lunch. Everybody else can eat there at dinner time when it’s open but it was nice having the option of at a sit down restaurant for breakfast and lunch rather than just the Buffet . It also has a very lovely view from the restaurant. My favorite restaurant was the French restaurant. I will say that the focus on the entrée is very good because the meal always tasted perfect. Both my husband and I had the most delicious lamb and steak we had ever had at the French restaurant. Their appetizers are not that great I will say. We come from New York where food is a big deal and the appetizers definitely left something to be desired. The Italian restaurant also had delicious entrées. My husband had wonderful osso bucco and I had a great fish meal. Again, I feel that they put their main focus on the entrées but the appetizers were subpar. The Asian restaurant was very nice with great staff and we had a great experience but again we are from New York and I feel that we have far better sushi and Asian food options so this restaurant was my least favorite. We did not do the hibachi table because it was so hot and the restaurant itself didn’t seem as air-conditioned as the other restaurants. The presentation of the food was lovely in all of the restaurants, including the Jade, but it was very salty at the Jade and I just wasn’t as impressed with my entrée as I was with the Italian and the French restaurant. The Mexican restaurant was also a lovely presentation but once again, I would say that my entrée was far better than the appetizers and I still prefer Mexican food from the authentic Mexican restaurants here in New York over the food that we had at this resort. It was just not up to our standards I suppose, but that’s not to say anything was wrong with it,it was just lackluster. My husband and I by this point knew to always bring drinks to the restaurants for dinner but it’s the third time we went to a restaurant and he did not receive the drink that he was supposed to so for sure make sure you are bringing a drink to the restaurants with you because you basically get just water served to you. The main lobby bar was also excellently staffed and all of the bartenders were super sweet and friendly. We absolutely loved Clemente and Pedro. They are just some of the funnest nicest bartenders. Clemente always did a little dance and had a smile on his face at all times, and had cute little sayings, and we just loved him and everybody at that lobby bar is an enjoyable person and make terrific drinks. My husband lost his phone outside one of the restaurants one of the nights that we were there and that was one of the other little headaches we had to deal with while we were there, although it did not take away from the trip. I will say that the way that they handled it was a little bizarre and the gentleman at the concierge desk was a little bit rude in my opinion. If a guest loses a phone and identifies the phone by the picture on the phone and where they left it and the staff who found it knows you are the person who left it there they should just give it back to you. We went on a 20 minute search for it and had to do a back-and-forth between a security guard a concierge and a restaurant staff member. It was a bit bizarre. The entertainment at this resort is also just terrific. We went to three different shows in the theater and I couldn’t believe the talent of the circus and the dance teams that were on stage. We got to take pictures with everybody at the end of each show and it just added to the whole experience. we had a really fun time on the beach with the DJ and the all white clothing party and if it rained, there was always something to do in the lobby at night such as a silent disco. We also really enjoyed the beach at this resort there was always a lounge chair with a umbrella available in various parts of the beach. I will say if you sit towards the front of the chairs. You will be bothered by people walking the beach trying to sell you things. They are not allowed up on the resort property so if you don’t want to be bothered sit far up closer to the resort rather than down towards the end of the chairs. There is security and military patrolling the beach to keep guests from being too bothered and to keep you safe. We frequented the beach during different times of the day and it was the same at all times. There are also dogs wandering the beach which for us was great we love dogs. They work very hard to keep that beach clean and they have barriers up for you to swim in if you wanna get into the ocean. There’s just so much to do at the resort as far as relaxing. Of course you can do that in many different areas but they always have something going on or some type of entertainment planned through the day and the evening. It is not a party resort. It is not a place for you to go and have foam parties at the pool or anything like that it is just a very nice clean, well taken care of , well staffed resort with friendly people and good clean fun. You can stay up till midnight at the lobby bar but after that there’s not really much to do but they do offer excursions and ways to get into town if that’s your thing. We booked excursions through the resort lobby And we definitely were well taken care of by doing it that way, so I would definitely suggest not booking through third parties or off of the beach. You will have a far better experience by booking through the lobby excursion desk. Long review but I will say I would definitely go back to this resort. I would go with my husband again or I would even go with a group of friends or family. It’s appropriate for all .

The resort itself is beautiful and very well maintained and clean, the food is ok, but nothing special, and the drinks are 5/10 at best. Sadly the kids area is terrible, and the rooms are a little small. The staff are a mixed bag. We travelled with 4 kids aged 2.5-12. Sadly the kids area is nowhere near the general pool deck, and you have to actually walk outside the main hotel doors, around the parking lot to get to it. Once there, you have to leave your kids with the staff, and there's nowhere for adults to sit and keep an eye on them. Am I leaving my 2 year old unsupervised and a 10 minute walk away from where I'll be? No. If you want a kid friendly resort, this isn't it. This place is ok overall, and I've visited worse resorts, but the alcoholic beverages here are abysmal. You almost have to insist they use particular "top shelf" spirits, despite everything being "all inclusive", and even then they are weak and watered down. There were 2 beer choices, presidente or coors lite, and only presidente was available on draft. We got hit for wine charges on night one because wine is included on the all inclusive, but only house wine by the glass. The waiters did not tell us this until we'd had 3 bottles delivered to our table. Whoops.

So, my husband and I decided to do a last min trip for my bday. I wanted to experience a new place (already did MX and Jamaica last yr and we loved them) I picked this hotel because it seemed smaller, which made it easier to get around, and it seemed a bit quieter. Upon arriving, check in was very easy. Room was not ready at the time (we arrived early so definitely not their fault) so we decided to get lunch in the meantime at the buffet. Food seemed very subpar. Wasn't much to choose from. Once we got to the room, I was a bit disappointed that our room's view was a wall (crazy because the options were pool or garden). We loved the bar by the lobby. They were nice and the drinks didn't taste watered down like other parts. My biggest issue on why I would probably not return (might sound childish lol) is the CHAIR HOARDING. Yes, people would place belongings and towels on various chairs early in the morning and leave for hours. I watch one couple place belongings on chairs by the pool and place belongings on chairs by the beach at the same time. It made it so hard to actually find a place to sit. How can we enjoy the pool and beach when we cant even sit there? Why do I have to wake up at 7am to get a chair? Lol Staff dont mind it either, which sucked. Another inconvenience was the selling on the beach was toooooo much. It was like clockwork. You say no to one, another was coming 3-5mins later with something else to sell. The Dinner menu for room service was actually ridiculous to me. There were only like 4 options. A burger. Pasta. Fruit tray. Chocolate cake. I called down around 10p for a slice of cake and guess what? Didn't have any lol.

We are here now, staying April 10th to 17th. We have been to the Dominican 16 times and stayed at many many resorts. The grounds are lovely and well kept. Cudos to the gardeners for an excellent job well done. 5 out 5 for the grounds. The food is good as well, though the buffet becomes really repetitive by about the 4th day. Two days in a row, no bacon at breakfast or ham. Just sausage. But despite this, there is plenty of other things to choose from. 4 out 5 for the buffet. The beach grill was great the first day but all they offer is the basics, chicken, burger or hot dog and fries. The chicken is often so over cooked its impossible to eat it. 3.5 out of 5 for the beach grill. Coco Bean is fantastic! The coffees and pastries are amazing! 5 out of 5 for Coco Bean. Wifi is very good. There was some troubles yesterday but it was minor and quickly resolved. 5 out 5 for the wifi. The rooms, they are dated. We are on the family VIP side. The maid does a good job but even despite leaving a tip, we never ever get cans of beer in the fridge (my son's room around the corner gets some every day) and we didn't even get water one day. Had to go get it ourselves. Little tiny bugs walking on the bathroom vanity. I'm constantly killing them and I worry about the hygiene for the items I have on the bathroom counter. Rooms 3.5 out of 5. Drinks - they are just not consistent from bar to bar. This absolutely boggles my mind! Same drink made differently at each one. Some are really good, like the reception main bar, excellent, swim up bar, terribly inconsistent and so bad that I have dumped out several drinks due to them being undrinkable. Bars 4 out 5 The gym, my son has gone several times. The equipment is a bit dated but they do have a trainer there and fresh towels and a fridge with water. My son gives the gym 4 out 5. I rate this resort a 3.5 out of 5 because it lacks a sports bar, the children's pool by the main pool is just a pool, no water features for the little ones unless you put them in the kids club which my son chooses not to do with my 8 year old grandson. Would be nice if they had a fountain or something for the kids main pool. The staff for the most part are fantastic though there was one incident in the buffet last night that got me angry. When you go the buffet, you don't get to pick your own table. You have to wait for someone to take you there. Last night we were waiting to be taken to a table and we were talking amongst ourselves, a family of 5 and when I looked up, the seating lady had apparently been trying to get my attention from afar to come over to her and she was visibly super angry with us, but she didn't come to us, she was on the other side of the divider yelling for us. That was upsetting. No clean beach towels today. They ran out and we missed out. 3 out of 5 for towel service. I would recommend this resort but just know, it is not a 4 out of 5. It could be with some improvements though.

We stayed at Jewel Palm Beach during last week of March. What can we say about this place? Only one word EXCELLENTE! We came to this hotel first time 10 years ago, loved it then and love it now. We have traveled to other countries and stayed at other resorts in between but keep coming back to Jewel. What makes it so special? People who work there! The moment we arrive there it feels like home. Every employee smiles and puts their hand on the heart as sign of greeting. How cool is it to come back and see people who have been working there for more than 20 years! The resort is situated on smaller grounds which makes it more cozy and easy to navigate. The entertainment team was always present and invited guests to participate in the activities. There was a lot of options for every taste from athletic competition to dance lesson to silly games. Everyone had chance to make their stay as much fun as they choose to get involved in the activities onsite. Special gratitude goes to Paola, Any, Pedro, Eury and most of all to Edward Contreras for going above and beyond to make our stay very comfortable! Every night there was special entertainment including international singers, disco, circus performers, magic show and etc. The first 5 days of our stay ocean was clean and warm. The rain came in later, wind switched from North and seaweed was back. It was unfortunate but who can argue with nature. However, the resort crew was cleaning beach area diligently right away to make it more comfortable. Pool water was clean and temperature was just right. Our room was nice with plenty of space, comfortable bed, ample storage and perfect shower. Yes, furniture doesn’t look brand new but it’s expected in the climate with hot weather and high humidity which makes it more authentic. Food. There were always plenty of choices of food for different tastes at the Coral buffet or beach bar. Five theme restaurants are open for dinner every night with al a carte serving. We didn’t go on any excursions this time since we have done several of them during our previous stays. However, we wish there was a quick tour of Punta Cana offered to get familiar with that nearby town. It was very hard to leave this place and we know that we will be back to this paradise again!

Anne leveled up our beach experience. She did a great job organizing activities to keep us busy and meet new people. See Christina and Jennfier at the Cocao Bean for a great café experience. They greeted us every morning with warm and friendly smile. They even went the extra mile to remember our coffee order every morning.
