Great location in a beautiful part of the island, the resort does a disservice to guests with barely functional, small rooms and little or no cleaning on a daily basis.
A family friendly resort be prepared for loud noice and very limited options for meals on the premises. The chef however goes out of her way to make the best of her limited options. Staff are usually very accommodating when basic amenities like air conditioning does not work.

We visited Radix resort as a family of 6 plus a baby. It was a little anxiety inducing with the booking as you didn’t provide a credit card, but just gave your name and had to call to confirm the day before your stay. It was a little difficult to get a hold of the reception to make the booking, but she was friendly and accommodating when we finally got in touch. As we arrived the security guard, and older gentleman, seemed to really take himself seriously and said only one person was allowed to enter and that the vehicle had to park across the street to wait, which felt a little unwelcoming. The room we had was clean, seemed like they kept it up and didn’t have any disrepairs. Our complaint about the apartment itself was only 1 bathroom for a room that could sleep 11 people, and it was very dimly lit inside, making it difficult to cook and such. In my room there was also wood raining down from the ceiling due to some type of pest/insect chewing at the wood ceiling. It was overall comfortable, but not the best. No towels were provided, which we found strange for a “resort”. The pool/beach area were nice and relaxing, though one of my senior family members slipped on the pool stairs and cut her leg on the un-grouted tile, which I found to be negligent. My husband and I were playing in the game room and after being in there for more than 1.5 hours were told we had to stop and come out because the area had to be sanitized, by the same security guard as before. We asked when it would be opened back, to which he replied, “tomorrow” but it never was. There was a lot of construction going on which was quite noisy during the day and they were using a table saw across the court from our apartment, but I could understand why they did it when we were there because we were the only people at the whole resort. I found the price a little steep for the lack of amenities. I’m just glad we we’re comfortable and the place was at least clean.

Beach Front equiped with all everyday amenities. appartments centralised air conditioning, kitchen fully packed with all kitchen utensils - spoons, thongs, rolling pins, plates, bowls, pots, eating spoons, gas stove, Refridgerator, microwave, toaster, kettle. The appartment we are in, is very spacious Four bedrooms, one double bed and a single bed in 3 rooms ad one room with double bed. One bathroom and toilet and this is also spacious with shelves for placing toiletries. House keeping could be a little cleaner but its satisfactory considering all the other pluses.Living room has lat screen t.v. with cable connection. the beds have comforters, except the single beds, so be sure to ask at the office for a comforter if you are on one. if anything is lacking just ask at the office and it'll be provided ( soap, toiletpaper, dishwashing liquid etc). There's a restaurant on the compound so one can order either breakfast or lunch, but order has to be placed in advance.

there's large pool, bbq pits at the patio near the beach with covered area with benches and tables for dining overloooking the ocean. throughout the compound leading to the beach are clean toilets, baths and changiong rooms , from the beach there is a shower and foot pipe to wash out sand before entering compound so the grounds are clean. also facing the beach a re concrete benches ad long wooden benches for sitting.

also available conference area, gym availble for businessguests, and also rabit, parrots and monkeys for kids to admire. large car park across road of hotel for guest parking.

the resort is secured constantly being watched by camera suvillance cameras and fenced from beach and resort.
10 mins from the resort is a Supermarket, pharmacy and vegetable market. Atm , Police Station Gast station.

This establishment seems to spend little effort on keeping the rooms clean and updated. We rented a two bedroom apartment and what a disappointing experience it was.
1. The sheets on the bed were extremely thin, there was one blanket on each bed and at 5ft 1in inche I had to sleep in a fetal position to get my body covered, the blanket was so short
2. The air condition regardless of what temperature you thought you were setting it at came on very cold, so at night a blanket was definitely needed. It also stopped and started so loudly that every time it started it woke me from sleep, so I hardly slept during my stay
3. The walls are paper thin so you hear all the loud music and conversation well into the late hrs.
4. The bedroom had no windows
5. The utensils in the Kitchen were old and dirty; can opener that does not work, knife broken and dull unable to cut anything, fridge old and with a very bad smell
6. Two young kids cut their feet in the pool on broken tiles and the pool needed cleaning
7. The toilet smelled especially during the night
8. My personal opinion is that the establishment primarily caters for the locals and does not seem to think they warrant the same high standards of cleanliness and comfort that would be afforded a foreigner. I will certainly never stay here again. What an extremely disappointing place.
On a positive note
a. I have to say however that the staff did respond to the many request made by us to improve the comfort and cleanliness of the room, however we should NOT have needed to make these requests.
b. The kid enjoyed playing with the Monkeys
c. The location afforded easy access to the beach

Radix Resort is comfortable and affordable, I would stay here whenever I visit the beautiful Mayaro beach in Trinidad.
The cook is friendly and her food is enjoyable. Staff is accommodating. Would like to manually control the air condition unit because there's a central unit.

If you are looking for luxurious hotel then Mayaro is not the place to go for these hotels. Radix is one of the better hotels with positives, such as the wonderful beach at front, the ground have security, free wifi, and reasonable size rooms with secure parking.
This holiday is all about access to the beach with the convenience of having a basic apartment for your needs such as air conditions and a kitchen.
the staff there are very helpfully and will try their best to meet all your needs.
if you are a true beach lover and just there for the beach, like my family, this is the ideal place to stay.

The Radix Resort is a very out dated hotel. I would not reccommend it to people who are use to American hotels. I would compare it to an old motel to be honest. I am not trying to purposely down the hotel, but I had such a horrible experience, that I would really want other travelors to know before they go so they won't be just as disappointed. When I first arrived, I very shocked thay they had actual shopping carts to carry our luggage to our rooms. As I entered my room, I noticed a very strong odor that burned my nose. It smelled like cat urine and moth balls. We notified the superviser who also agreed that the smell was so horrible that they made us move to another room. But unfortunately they didn't have a key to the room, so they literally had to take a butter knife to unlock the room. I was kind of nervous safety wise how it was so easy to unlock the doors to our room with a butter knife. Especially since I was traveling with my children. Anyways, the rooms have very out dated furniture, I say its furniture from about the 70s. Also, the kitchen is very out dated too. I definetly didnt trust cooking on the pots, pans, and appliance there because it looked like it hasn't been cleaned for years. Also, old spoiled food was left in my refridgerator from the previous visitor. The beds definetly needs updating. They have thin mattresses with very thin bedding and sheets. The covers and bedding arent plush like American hotels where you just want to immediately jump on the bed. The bedding is just outdated and old. I highly recommend you bring your own wash towels because face towels to wash your face/body arent provided. The showers and toilets are also old and rusty so bringing flip flops or sandals is a must or else you'll be standing on nasty floor. Trust me, I am not a picky person at all, but just staying in the room made me feel dirty. Although the rooms are not the best, the staff is amazing. They're so friendly and nice. I just loved them. And when we would have a problem or need, they would be there in no time ! We definitely were their main priority if there was an issue and I really appreciate them so much. Also, having the instant beach front access is breath taking. But I don't know, maybe since I'm from America, my views of nice hotels are different. I would definetly not reccommend this hotel to anyone.

Reserved a two (2) bedroom apartment with ocean front view for one (1) night for some of my relatives, two (2) of whom were flying in from Bermuda and the other two (2) who were locals.

The Good:
Rooms are great. neat, clean, comfortable, unobstructed beach front view & has MOST of the basics that you would expect for the price offered. (more on that later).

Tasha at the front desk is a great asset to the organization;friendly, courteous, excellent.

Security on the compound is very good.

Easy access to the beach.

Pool is of a reasonable size that you wouldn't feel crowded & appears well maintained, etc.

Did not actually have to make a down payment when making the reservation to book the room; it was only upon actual check-in that payment was required.

There is a very reasonable 'late checkout' fee which gets you an extra five (5) hours for $200.oo. (normal check-in is @ 11:00 am & check-out is @ 12 noon).

There is a great open air balcony overlooking the beach to relax on, sun-bathe and/or take in the famous Mayaro sunrise or you can relax under the covered area of the same balcony at the tables provided.

There is an on site restaurant & pub, but did not have the opportunity to patronize either. Did find out that menu at restaurant changes daily & it closes at 8 pm.

The Bad:
At the price charged, guests would expect towels & toiletries to be complimentary. They were not.

Ended up having to purchase four (4) towels and soap in Mayaro for my relatives which was quite inconvenient & somewhat embarrassing.

As a point of redemption however, the hotel did launder the towels & deliver them to the room at no additional cost, etc.

Again, at the price charged, a complimentary breakfast should be included. Technically you can pay less for a nights stay at Magdalena Grand in Tobago & get complimentary buffet breakfast included.

If you are elderly or differently abled, the best beach front view rooms & balcony area may be inaccessible since they are up a flight of stairs.

This is a small resort.

It is not fancy.

There is a nice pool and rooms have full kitchens. It is nice for a short getaway.

There is a bar and restaurant as well so you can order meals.

The beach access is good. There are showers and toilets everywhere.

The beach is ok.

They do have 2 bedroom apartments as I stayed in one of these apartments before. Each bedroom had 2 standard size beds. There was one bathroom, a dining table seating 6 in the kitchen and a living room area. I believe the cost varies depending on their peak periods. The price starts at TT$1,069.00 per night at minimum for 4 persons and TT$1,125.00 per night for 6 persons but it can be more. These prices were based in what I paid in Jan 2017
