Gracias, Lempira Honduras28 contributions12 helpful votes
December 28,2014 Melissa Faith Rochelle Aldea Mejocote Gracias, Lempira Honduras I am writing concerning our nights stay at your motel. We payed for a one night/ 20 hour stay. Everything was well until you stated you were going to Metapan. My husband asked if there was security and you said there was. You asked what time would we be leaving and he told you 6 o’clock. In the middle of the night the toilet started leaking water and there was no one anywhere to help. We had to use our one towel to try to soak up water off the floor. We got up the next morning and packed our truck. We looked every where for the security guy and he was no where on the property. After honking the horn several times and just wondering around the complex with no way out because all the gates were pad locked he finally showed after 55 minutes. He kept stating that the owners never said we would be leaving at 6 in the morning. I wonder what would have happened if we had a medical emergency and was locked in with no way out. So at almost seven he finally unlocked the gates and found my husbands identification. The security guard did not stay on the property and we were basically held hostage by your hotel. I have several friends that live here in Central America and travel, I will never recommend your hotel. If you expect to stay in business you really need to address this issue.

La Perla is an interesting place. It's located outside of Metapan, El Salvador. Not easy to find, so follow the directions given and look for the sign on the side of the highway. From there it's a dirt/gravel road to the lakeside site. The drive is nice, however, because it goes through a rustic National Park. Upon arriving, you will be impressed: beautiful location on the large lake (Lake Güija), with large panoramic views across towards Guatemala. There's a really nice swimming pool with areas for children to swim also, and a poolside bar. The "rooms" are actually joined cabanas..each is pretty bare bones, but nice and clean. Electricity, running water, and a dated TV, but adequate. Each cabana has a covered rooftop area where you can swing in the hammock or eat meals, catered by the restaurant. Or you can take your meals in the restaurant and watch the large screen, modern TV there. There are paddle boats and a motor boat available to go out onto the lake, or, if you wish, you can swim in the lake because it's clean (we were told, and there were people swimming there). The staff was very friendly and attentive! Kudos to each of them. The only negative thing I have to say is that the night we were there over the holidays the staff left after dinner and locked the gates, basically leaving us "locked in." It was ok, of course, but if we'd had an emergency, it would have been difficult to leave the place. I do recommend this place for those seeking to visit a rather remote location and to just lay back and relax, while having a great pool for the kids. And, you can't beat the view!! Go into Metapan and see the very old Colonial Church; it's worth the trip.
