We loved our stay at Quinta Real, the hotel offers a very welcoming experience in a secluded location. The Suites with private pool terraces are just great with a lovely view over the jungle and the bay.
Quite some stairs to the private beach, because of the hilltop location, but it's just a 3-4 Minute Walk and Car service is also offered. Definitely worth to stay here!

It seems that this hotel is operating at 50% capacity with its staff. For a 5-star hotel, it lacks sufficient personnel to attend to guests adequately. At times, we waited almost an hour to receive towels for the beach. The service for food and beverages at the pool and beach area is extremely slow. The housekeeping service cleaned the room at 4 pm, which was inconvenient. The entire staff seemed stressed and overworked. It's very disappointing that the hotel didn't plan properly for one of the busiest weeks of the year and didn't have enough staff to provide the service that guests expect and pay for.

Our experience on this occasion was very bad. We have stayed several times in other hotels in the Quinta Real chain, but this time left much to be desired.
To begin with, the air conditioning wasn't working. By reporting it, we were assured that the problem had been resolved, but it was not. It wasn't until the next day when they finally turned it on. The person who came to check it informed us that they simply had not turned on the machine, forcing us to spend a very uncomfortable night.
Also, in the restaurant we had an equally unfortunate experience. We requested scrambled eggs, but we were served starry eggs. The problem was not the mistake in preparation, but the attitude of the waiter. Instead of correcting it properly, he took the dish to the kitchen, removed the yolk, chopped the eggs and handed them back to us, ensuring that they were scrambled. When we pointed out the mistake, instead of acknowledging it, he insisted that they were well prepared.
Given this situation, we ask to speak with the manager. We were informed several times that she was on her way, but we were kept waiting more than an hour before we could talk to her.

Lacking in all respects. We reserved two rooms for our family of four (two teenagers and two adults) but at check-in they said they had three reservations through hotels.com and that they had charged us for three rooms even though my hotels.com app, confirmation emails and hotels.com representative were saying we had two rooms (no reason for us to have three!). We had to dispute later with Amex. On the first night of our stay after a long day of travel, our sleep was disturbed twice, once my a man delivering a small fruit basket at 9:45pm and another by a phone call at 10:35pm asking if we had called hotels.com. Unnecessary! The second night we returned to our uncleared rooms to find that one of our rooms had two two men in it. One checking his cell phone while sitting on one of our chairs and the other said he was ‘fixing’ our a/c unit. It worked great…never a complaint about that. We still don’t know why t o male employees were hanging out in our room. The food service was very slow, the wines on the wine list were nonexistent, the facilities are all worn, the pool was dirty and understaffed and the front desk staff was either confused or scamming us. Look elsewhere when considering this area.

Excellent service from the Quinta Real hotel. All of their heat workers have good service, they are very friendly and they solved all my unforeseen problems.
The service at the Tierra Mía restaurant has excellent times from the moment you arrive until the food is served. The food is very tasty, it shows that they take care of every detail of the dishes.
In general my stay was very pleasant.

Although the staff is very friendly and tries to solve problems, the hotel is not in good condition. It is very neglected, the rooms have insect problems (spiders, scorpions, mealybugs, ants, etc.), the sheets are in poor condition and very scratchy, they literally sting. The internet failed throughout the stay, the cable was not seen for a couple of days due to a problem with a cable in the set top box. I do not recommend it.

This hotel was probably amazing 20 years ago but now it is in dire need of an update (painting/landscaping/room refurbishment, etc). The a/c was a real problem for our entire visit. Despite multiple complaints and manager intervention, it was never resolved. They did offer us free breakfast to attempt to compensate, but the lack of a/c made it really hard to sleep at night. The temp did not go down to more than 26C degrees at any point, even in a second room that they offered us for sleeping!! Considering the humidity and heat in the area, good a/c is a necessity. I also felt that the hotel was understaffed. Everyone who works there is very nice and tries to do their best, but they need more people. The location on the beach is perfect and the views are gorgeous, so I gave it a 4/5. But this is not a 5 star resort, not even close.

Not really a buffet. You order off the menu. I think it was about $18 CDN but included coffee, juice, sweet goods and your choice of breakfast. The prices on meals ran anywhere from $20-$35 per person. Hope this helps.
