I stayed at the Shangri-La for two nights this week for business purposes. The rooms are a nice standard, with lovely deep-soaking tubs in the bathrooms. I had a spectacular view of the Sydney Opera House from my room and I watched it change all colours of the rainbow (lighting) over night. Room service was efficient and good quality; the...

I am currently staying at the hotel (will be staying for 6 nights). There is some construction work going on and it didn't bother me for the first few nights as I couldn't hear noise. But last night I heard noises from my room (I am on the 22nd floor), sounded like the workers were moving large plate of steel...

This tour of Australia was a special treat for me and my wife. Sydney was a one of the stops. We had a room on 22nd floor overlooking the sydney port and the opera house. The view of ships coming and going was really good. The harbour activity was very interesting to watch.. Room temperatures were well controlled.

Wonderful hotel with stunning views. Friendly, helpful staff to everyone around. We arrived after 2 months of travelling, carrying our backpacks and they didn't even bat an eyelid! Would highly recommend if you're thinking of splashing out on a luxury hotel! Great top Floor bar with views of the city below!

The hotel had been conveniently located at Sydney harbor. We arrived early and they let us check in early. Also the customer service was very good. There was gentleman at reception on 5th of May at around 11 am who was really very helpful (sorry I forgot your name). He was very kind enough to upgrade our room for our...

We stayed at the Shangri La Sydney last week for 4 nights. Every single experience with a staff member was a positive one. From housekeeping to reception to in room dining to the Horizon Club. Absolutely unbelievable service. The staff at Horizon Club remembered our drinks from the day before and got them for us immediately. They remembered where we...

This hotel is in a great position on the edge of The Rocks, with wonderful views from higher floor rooms - in my case of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. However, the interiors are starting to look a bit dated, the number of elevators can't cope adequately with a full hotel, and the quality of service was very patchy....

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
