Location is great. We had a harbour view suite which was fantastic. Great space, well equipped with stunning views. Really nice. We also had access to the lounge that was also done well - again with stunning views over the harbour. Staff we're attentive and very helpful. Overall value given the location and quality was very good. Having stayed at...

We had 6 nights at the Shangri-La and what made our visit special and gave the hotel it's 5 star rating was the quality of the service. Staff are friendly efficient and deal with any issues promptly and appropriately. The hotel is perfectly situated for easy walking access to the Harbour central areas such as the Bridge, Circular Quays, The...

My wife and I stayed here again after we had such a fantastic stay mid last year. This time was for our anniversary which we informed "Merry", (hope this is the correct spelling, didn't have glasses on), of. We told her that my wife had recently had a fall from her horse and that we had booked here on the...

We visited the Shangri-la Sydney as part of a celebration. They happily allowed a delivery to be made and took it up to the room while we were out and also were kind enough to send up a little treat to help us celebrate. The staff are friendly and helpful and it is highly recommended to purchase the horizon club...

We stayed one night for my birthday recently and were very impressed. The front desk were very polite and friendly. Our room has a great view of the Harbour bridge and Opera House. The complimentary champagne and chocolate was a great bonus. Dining at Altitude Restaurant was an excellent experience. Highly recommend this hotel.

This is was our third stay at the Shangri La hotel. The room was excellent and very clean. Love the large Bathroom. The room came with a beautiful view of the Opera house and the harbour. Breakfast was excellent, but did notice the room and furniture was getting very tired. The chairs needed replacing as the surface was peeling off,...

Spent fri and saturday nights at the hotel. The room was very well appointed with a good view of circular quay and opera house. Very comfy bed. The location is good being close to rocks and to the city. The walk up the hill might put a few off. We didnt use many of the facilities. The bar on the...

I really enjoyed my stay at the Shangri-La and would love to do so again if the cost fits my budget. It's expensive, and especially in Sydney, but it's amazing! The staff are great and very helpful, but it's all about the room. My suite cost me a little more for a Opera House view, bit it was worth it....

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
