We picked the Alishan from the list in Lonely Planet and found it to be everything as advertised. We gravitate toward guest houses because we enjoy meeting fellow travellers from around the world. We also like the ability to access the use of a communal kitchen so we don't have to eat all our meals in restaurants. When traveling for... More

Our family (2 adults and two children) stayed at the Guest House for one night in November 2010. We found our room and the Guest House to be very clean and comfortable - our room was large. The service was great and the Guest House was managed well. The Guest House is very close to the City and there are... More

An excellently priced hotel in the heart of Glebe with its excellent variety of restaurants, coffee shops and bookstores and within easy walking distance to the centre of Sydney (20 to 30 mins). A clean, immaculately presented hotel with communal kitchen facilities and lounge room. Only downside was room was slightly small but this hardly matters when there's so much... More

Room was spotless and cheap, we slept in the 3 person family room. Staff were extremely friendly. Good kitchen facilities. Cheapest hotel parking i found in the area. Amazing location, glebe resturants, breakfast, markets... More

Stayed here for a weekend, woke up on Saturday night to "knock knock knock" on my door at 2am in the morning. Then a man used a key to open my door and come in!! I said "Excuse me!" and he said sorry and left. OMG. I was staying by myself so you can imagine how scared I was for... More

We have been operating for 20 years now and this is the first time that we have heard of someone with a key entering a room. Thanks for your information we have made changes to our door locking system. There must be some misunderstanding about the double room with ensuite price it ranges from $115 to $175 depending on the season.... More

I shared a spacious twin room with a colleague over a period of two weeks, the beds were very comfortable. The facilities at the guest house were all great with the exception of the communal kitchen which I found a little grimy (apparently this was due for an imminent upgrade). Internet access should be free given than the nearby coffee... More

That place was the cheapest I could find for 3 adults and 1 kid in Sydney. It is in a nice location, with very interesting restaurants around (I loved the little bistrot just accross the street from the house). I don't like to pay to use the internet, but it seems that you have to pay for it almost everywhere... More

Staying in Glebe

Neighbourhood Profile
Glebe
An inner city suburb along the water, Glebe has a deep-rooted sense of cultural history and heritage. It originated as a semi-rural resort for the well-to-do, but has transformed into a student-centric melting pot. Visit Glebe Point Road for ethnic cuisine as standard as Mexican, Indian, Italian and Chinese, or as diverse as Spanish, Bavarian, Polish, Czech and Lebanese. You will find that Glebe is accepting of the eccentrics and aboriginals that roam the streets, integrating students and people of all economic statuses into the multi-cultural fabric that distinguishes this suburb. Glebe Foreshore is a great destination for a leisurely walk along the Bay, and the Saturday market is a great scene for bargain hunters.
