the hostel and bed room was clean. the location is not far from the central station. just 5 minutes by walk. the receptionist are very nice. they help to find location and give me a map. minus: WiFi only available at common room, not all the bedroom but it's ok since I bought a local number there.

I paid 92 AUD per night in January for a private room with private toilet which I find a very convenient price for such a good location in Sydney. It includes a basic breakfast of toasts, cereals, milk, coffee and tea. It is a backpacker hostal but the private accomodation it's very convenient, the staff is very professional and friendly...

Big hostel is such a good memory of Sydney! The people that works there are so nice and friendly, and you get a lot for your money compared to other hostels in Australia! Very social, fun and clean! The rooms are big and light. The staff always helps you out if you need help with anything, and there is a...

We had a family room for 4 of us over the New Year period at Big Hostel. The facilities were clean and easy to use. We were there in a heat wave but the room was always cool enough to sleep comfortably with a blanket thanks to the air conditioning. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was also provided which...

Booked a double room with own toilet and didn't regret it. We were only there for a night but wouldn't mind staying here for quick trips in the city. Although we did not eat brekky in their shared kitchen, it looked pretty clean. The staff were accommodating and the location is just perfect. Totally great value for money!

Great price! Clean room! Quiet! Great roof top space! Lucky the dog is adorable! Elevator a little dodgy! Great location very close to train station and convenience store! 5 min train ride to circular quay, Opera house and Harbour Bridge. Would stay again with my family of 5.

I stayed with my family (3 adults/2kids) who was visiting from oversea, in a family room with bathroom and we were more than happy with our stay, we actually did get more than we were expected for this price. The room was surprisingly quite big, it was comfy and clean, so does the bathroom, and towels were furnished for the...

This hostel has a great location between CBD and Suryy hills (you got some great cafes on Reservoir street, just two minutes away). The central station is also very close. Botanical garden is within walking distance. The included breakfast is suprisingly good for a hostel of this kind. You got different kinds of toast (not only the very white one..),...

Big Hostel is not really 'big' so don't go looking for a big structure but it's big on having friendly, accommodating staff. It's also very near Central and Museum stations. Whichever station you get off, it's a very easy, short walk. Perhaps it can improve on its signage, it's pretty small (for Big) and you can easily get past it...

Staying in Surry Hills

Neighbourhood Profile
Surry Hills
Once regarded as the traditional fashion area, Surry Hills has broadened its appeal. This neighbourhood continues to distinguish itself as a shopping destination, offering the best collection of one-of-a-kind boutiques, designer brands and flagship stores in the city. Today, this area has evolved into a hub of media, design and professional services - a colourful and diverse place equally known for its antique dealers, art galleries, cafes and pubs. Strolling down the street on a Saturday morning, you’ll see a mix of students, artists, hipsters and a few all-nighters from Oxford Street, the “Gay Capital of Sydney”. In this vibrant neighbourhood you will find bohemian chic and modern style co-existing side by side.
