My 7 yo son and I decided to explore the Rocks and thought this was the perfect place to do so from. We were in the Cook room and had a great view of the Opera House. It was close to everything we wanted to get to on foot - Opera House, Barrangaroo and the CBD. Lovely hosts who were...

Have just had 4 nights here. We came up from Melbourne for some r&r and exploration. SHBB was recommended by my in laws and i can say we weren't disappointed. Due to our late booking we stayed in 3 different rooms and enjoyed every single one of them. They were charming, rustic and very clean. Breakfast was delicious, and it...

My son had wanted to stay in a B & B and he was not disappointed. We had the Lachlan room which was a great size for an adult family of 4. The breakfast was fantastic as was the courtyard. Stephanie W

I really enjoyed my stay here. Loved personal approach of the owners, the place felt homely, was clean. I booked a room with shared bathroom facilities unintentionally which I was a bit worried about but it was clean and I never really have to wait for bathroom.

I purchased high tea for 2 from groupon which seemd like a good deal for $98 for two people, including a glass of champagne! It was a very sunny day so the little outside area was quite lovely. We were sat down and the lady asked which tea we wanted. She returned with the wrong tea (not that i knew...

Thanks for a very enjoyable stay. The owners are friendly and welcoming and the rooms are large, comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed the view of the opera house from our window (Cook room). The location is fantastic - a short walk to circular quay and the opera house and lots of restaurants and pubs nearby. Despite the central location,...

Great place, close to all things Sydney Harbour. Fantastic staff, were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast actually went above and beyond what most places do: it was supremely comfortable and surprisingly quiet considering it was very close to a highway. Highly recommend.

James and Linda were very accommodating and the room was perfect for a couple of days. Wi fi was a little slow but everything else will certainly bring us back. The location was fantastic. Breakfast is prompt and when the weather is good the garden setting is a perfect start to the day.

This heritage listed B&B offers a wonderful experience of the early years of Sydney, the history of the building and surrounding area which was in the guest information folder was very informative. It is charmingly restored yet with modern bathroom facilities and at the top end the heart of the Rocks area and is an easy walk up from Circular...

The service we received from Linda and James, the owners of the B & B was excellent from booking, during our stay and on departure. They are very genuine and had lots of helpful advice. The Lachlan room was open plan but worked for our family of four. At the time I think the cleaning staff needed some more guidance...

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
