Its unfortunate the reviews for the restaurant/pub and for the hotel are lumped together under one heading. Please keep in mind my review only addresses the pub as we did not lodge here. We got a late start in Sydney on a Friday afternoon. Had a late lunch around 2:30 and just as we left that shop the rain started....

Walked past the hotel and was taken with its overall look and decided to return that night for dinner and drinks and whilst we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, we were underwhelmed by the food - had a Meditteranean Pizza which didn't offer anything in terms of taste which put a dampener on the night. There are so many other places...

Situated right next to our favourite Sydney accommodation. So a meal here was worth a try... Dropped in at 3pm to book a table for 7pm. Witnessed the booking being written (onto a table map). Returned with family at 7pm. No booking (looked like a fresh table map). How oh how can that be got wrong? That was once we...

This place had been recommended so we visited after climbing the bridge. The service was good and friendly. The pizza and salad we had was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Try one of the pizzas made with local meat such as kangaroo or crocodile.

After the evening Harbour Bridge climb we were hungry and the bridge people said we should try pizzas at this place as it was really good. Either they were incentivised to say that, or they never eaten a good pizza. The pub has blatantly bought a bunch of cheap pizza bases from a budget supermarket, and then dumped toppings on...

And service at the bar was relatively very quick. Good atmosphere. Food friends had was ok and the drinks were good. Decent selection of ales on tap. Super pit...

Come here to try the Kangaroo Pizza! It was right by the bridge climb and it was actually really great and enjoyable! The pub was fun and the staff was friendly. We actually ordered half kangaroo and half emu pizza!

The hotel deserves its name. Old and nice. The room didn't have its own bathroom, but that was the only negative point. The service is indeed fantastic. Have you been often offered a bottle of wine when asked to switch tables so that a larger group can be accommodated all together in a pub? The hotel is also very well...

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
