We stayed at Curtin Springs overnight on our way to Uluru. It is about 70km or so from the National Park, with fuel, restaurant and bar, as well as ample camping and campervan space. Camping with a tent was free, with showers costing $3 (pretty good considering we're in the outback!) We used some of our savings on a couple...

Good morning Traveling Renae, thank you for such lovely words. I hope you enjoyed seeing the desert with some rain on it over the last few days - something not very many people get to experience. With thanks, Lyndee Severin

We were driving to Ularu and called at Curtin Springs. Were welcomed by its (exotic) staff, and decided to take advantage of its camping facilities and enjoyed a few drinks in the covered area. Filled up with diesel which was cheaper than at Ularu.

Hi V6632EU, yes we do have a lot of staff from different countries working with us at the moment - all enjoying the opportunity to work in remote Australia and experience some of the joys and wonders of that. The Bough Shed is the original homestead for the Severin family and is a great place to sit and enjoy a...

Whilst the staff deserve credit for the work they do, the Curtin Springs Wayside Inn leaves a fair bit to be desired. The prices for food and drinks is exceedingly expensive, and for the price, the food is not that good. A porterhouse steak, the thickness of CD is not good enough for a place that raises beef. The self-contained...

Thank you Sean for taking time out of your trip to put up a review and for acknowledging the great work that our staff do. I have passed on your comments to the kitchen so we can check what may be happening there as most visitors are really pleased with meals. Pricing is always a challenge particularly in very remote...

On a recent family trip to the Red Centre, on our way from Yulara to Kings Canyon, we decided to stop at the Curtin Springs Wayside Inn as we noticed that they were offering a "Papermaking Tour" at 10:30am. We are so glad that we did this. Amy (grand-daughter of the long-time owner, Peter Severin) took us across the road...

Hi Wendy, Making our handmade paper is amazing isn't it! And Amee's creativity with the jewellery and artworks using our paper is always just wonderful. Always great to see what she comes up with next! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stop with us and got to sample much of what we have to offer. I hope the rest of...

The story around Curtin Springs is the stuff of legends. Today it offers travellers an opportunity to refuel or rest. The bar tells part of the story and a walk around the grounds is equally interesting. The aviaries with native parrots and other birds are good. More than a remote petrol station, it has a rich history.

Thank you TWal1 for your lovely words. We do believe that we have more to offer than simply selling the fuel on someone's travels and I'm really glad that you were able to see that. Our family is very proud of the role we have played and continue to play, in both the tourism and pastoral industries of Central Australia....

Stopped for lunch and loved reading about the property and the Severin family who own it. What an amazing outback story. We will come back again one day to stay and take one of the guided hikes out to Mt Conner. A true slice of outback Australia. And the cheeseburger was great!!

We stopped off here twice - outbound & inbound - and I have to say that I was fascinated by everything that this place is. Obviously it's in the middle of nowhere and on the days we visited the temperatures were in the 40s. Ironically, I got and indulged a fantastic cup of tea ! Food was better than expected...and...

Staff was very pleasant and friendly: we came over specifically to the do the paper tour (we were staying near Uluru in Yulara). My wife is a paper junkie and really wanted to do the tour. She of course loved it, but as a non-paper-afficionado I really enjoyed the tour as well. It was very interesting, informative, and well worth...

Thank you seththegreat for such lovely words. We are very proud of Curtin Springs Paper - where we make handmade paper from the native grasses on Curtin Springs Station. Living in the NT you accept that accommodation out here is going to be basic, however this place has owners whom take pride in their venue and want to offer their customers a level above at a reasonable price - $170 for an ensuite room is not too bad considering the Yulara options start at $300 upwards!
