Definitely has the vibe of a backpackers, but the crowd is more 40-60 year olds. Live music is often on, and if not, they still play some great tunes. Music ends at 11pm. Fantastic food, particularly the steaks! Great drinks, if a little slow in the pour. The rooms are basic, but clean. No double glazing here, so expect to enjoy the music right up until closing. Great location, near to Smith Street where most of the bars and restaurants are located, and the waterfront bar and restaurant district, including the swimming areas.

We arrived at 1am after a late flight and the staff were friendly enough and gave us the keys to our room. The room is basic but adequate, the curtain for example was broken and doesn’t cover the window, but it’s what you’d expect for the very reasonable price at $89, and the very central location. Additional points for the nice pool. By 2am the noise from the bar was still quite loud, with the room directly above the bar. By 3am the broken aircon unit joined in and started making noises and by 4am noise from the street started. So a shockingly bad nights sleep and from reading other reviews, it seems this is a bit of an issue. Typically in this situation I would ask for a different room, but unfortunately, the open structure of the hotel means the rooms are all exposed (as others who moved rooms have confirmed) to the bar noise and the lack of double glazing on the windows makes you wonder if you left the window open. The staff did mention they had internal rooms that they could have moved us to, but who wants a room without a window? Regardless, since this is clearly an issue, why not make the rooms more sound proof in the first place so you don’t have to relocate guests mid stay? This all would’ve been fine if were there for a party or were very heavy sleepers, but I wouldn’t recommend this place for a couple looking to relax. It may also be fine if you stay during the week rather than a weekend, but I wouldn’t bet on it. We ended up moving to a hotel down the road. It was almost 3 times as much at $225 but we slept well!

I would love to be able to recommend this place as the staff are lovely and the rooms reasonable for the price and the pool and food good. Unfortunately I can’t recommend as I had to check out 2 days earlier and forfeit 2 nights accomodation as the noise from the open air bar that went until 12.30 every night made it impossible to sleep. After struggling for three nights and even been moved to another room further away from the bar we couldn’t take another night. They couldn’t resolve the noise problem as all rooms have the same problem due to open air bar so we had to walk away and find some where else resulting in us being $500 out of pocket as the cost of the only rooms left in town. Sadly no offer of a refund. So disappointed as it was the last leg of our month journeying around the NT. Don’t book here if you want a good nights sleep. The owners need to make it clear that bar noise will happen so not the place to stay if you want to sleep.

My chips were so burnt and small in size. What happened to the Cavs good servings..it's embarrassing to serve people crap like that. I was starving hungry there was one piece of petty lettuce in the BLT.. it was bad. Very bad. could of bought and made 5 servings for that. If an award winning kitchen serves that was does that say about Darwin.
