I arrived at Iron Range Cabins 6 hours later but the office reception was still there and got me sorted out. Being close to the Aerodrome was excellent, as was the peaceful surroundings during the weekend. No city noises, very few lights, was great - reminded me of true wilderness with all the comforts - a comfortable bed, hot showers,...

My overall rating is based on the fact that this is the Cape York Penn not the suburbs of Sydney or Adelaide. The cabins are located at the edge of the airfield. The units are stand-alone and prefabricated. The furnishings are utilitarian but adequate. The porches have tables and chairs. Units are clean, beds comfortable. There is plenty of hot...

These cabins are right near Lockhart River community and airport so convenient. Love the cabins are named after WW2 bombers! Reflects the U.S war history in the area. Good BBQ area, comfortable beds and self contained bathroom Air conditioner in room but a little noisy. Small kitchenette to make simple meals and breakfast. Small balcony to rest . To and...

As a regular visitor to Cape York, I always look forward to a stay at Iron Range cabins. The rooms are very comfortable and air conditioned and a bbq area is provided for cooking. There is no restaurant which is understandable due to the very remoteness of the area but basic groceries can be pre-ordered when booking. Iron range is...

You don't have many reasons to visit the Iron Ranges in Cape York, the dreadful drive in from the main road north, the less than salubrious accommodation and then walls of thick trees with very few walking tracks through the forest. If you are not a birding person or don't fish, why would you visit. Like most places up north,...

These are neat and tidy new cabins up to the standard of any good caravan park. However they are expensive and you must bring your own food. Some staples are available from reception but remember, this is a long way from any supermarket and items will be expensive. There is phone reception if you walk down to the tree in...

The Iron Range cabins are from a distance very basic - but inside, they are surprisingly modern and well appointed, with comfortable beds and all the necessities. Even the ensuites are well looked after and modern, which is usually the thing that makes or breaks accommodation for me! It's also lovely to have a BBQ dinner out in the main...

Lovely people who make you welcome. Maybe not all the conveniences but a great selection of local art for sale at reception. Just remember to take your own food and keep the doors closed at night to keep the crawlies out!

The staff were lovely. The bed good. Hot water was warm not hot. The front burner wasnt working. No phone reception, so therefore no net. TV was patchy. But the setting is lovely, and it is remote.
