This hostel was the cheapest we could get in Brisbane so we weren't expecting much. We had a double room. Shared bathrooms weren't the cleanest. Our room was at the front of the hostel so the smokers would smoke right outside our door so the room smelt of smoke - this was also because the windows wouldn't close and there...

By far the cheapest hostel in Brisbane and a fine example of the saying 'you get what you pay for'. For your money you get a tiny sweaty room with a fan and uncomfortable beds. Quite a few bugs around though the rooms are fairly clean. The kitchen and showers are gross, as is the pool and outdoor area. The...

After traipsing about for an hour we finally found the hostel. Nice enough staff but the place is not the best. This was the cheapest hostel we found in Brisbane and it showed. Our double room was dirty, the fan hadn't been cleaned of dust ever and there was a strange musty odour. Shared bathroom was ok I suppose but...

Stayed here for a night but room was dirty. Not enough showers and the only place to wash your hands is in the kitchen. The (Chinese) staff was friendly but didnt understood a word we said. I assume. We parked in front of the hostel after we checked weather it was free at reception, by the lack of any signalisation....

Stayed here for 3 nights and felt like we were locked up in jail. The staff were helpful and polite. The shower was awful due to no hot water, dirty, smelt of wee and occasionally had sick in the sink. The toilet upstairs didn't even had a light or lock so people won't even know it was engaged. The kitchen...

Small hostel that is run by nice Chinese guys. Situated 20 mins away from City Hall, 30 mins to the Botanic Gardens. Good when you are on a tight budget, especially if you are a couple and want some privacy. The kitchen was a little bit messy at times, however, the showers were always clean. I think it will depend...

I knew this hostel was cheap so not to expect anything amazing but it was really dingy. The staff were lovely but our room looked similar to a basement in fact I think it was the basement. I didn't trust leaving my bag out so left that locked as well as on the top bunk. Walked by the kitchen and...

Myself and my girlfriend are travelling around Australia and we went for this place in Brisbane due to its location and price, when we checked in the receptionist spoke very bad English so I struggled to understand him and vice versa so not the greatest start! We were shown to our room which was 'below ground' the room was big...

We are travelling and working around Australia and needed somewhere cheap to stay when we first arrived so decided on the yellow submarine. First impressions were 'what have we come to' as there are a few hostels in that area that are a lot newer & look nicer... But we went inside and the staff were very welcoming and friendly....

Stayed there for 3 nights and was very happy with the Yellow Submarine Hostel. It's quiet big so there's plenty of room so it doesn't get crowded. The rooms are clean and the beds are made for you when you arrive, which I loved! It's close to Roma street Train station and takes about 10 - 15minutes to walk into...
