Good and clean hostel with friendly staff. We had a double room which was not too big but quite ok for a Hostel. The room was clean and the showers were ok - don't expect any luxury here. The staff was eager to help with hints for sight seeing and further travel.

Stayed for 2 nights at the Guesthouse. Private Hostel room in a building across the road from the backpackers. 3star. Best features are the Hostels cleanliness and its locality. Worst features are the nearby busy intersection, not being informed before booking that access/reception is through the backpackers across the street, and that there was no clear prior notice that towels...

Stayed here for 3 nights in a private room with shared bathroom. It is basic but the room and bathrooms are clean with plentiful hot water. There was a sink in our room, AC and a fan. The location is great, we walked everywhere and the free tram is nearby. This is a great place to meet people as well,...

Backpack oz is a good hostel to base yourself in Adelaide It's close to Victoria square. We had private room for 2. Bathrooms are little bit old, but quite clean. Free breakfast Friendly and helpful staff. Some tours can pick you up at Backpack Oz like Groovy Grape. Free wireless in the living room.

Backpack oz is a good hostel to base yourself in Adelaide It's close to Victoria square for trams and Grote st is a 10 mins walk away for good Asian food and central markets. I had a private room which was fine, nothing special but didn't need to be. Bathrooms are quite old and in need of an update but...

I stayed in The Guesthouse, part of and across the street from Backpacker Oz. The room was large and comfortable, it had a good kitchen and the bathrooms were clean. The staff at Backpacker Oz were helpful and friendly and the hostel has a great free barbecue on Tuesday nights. It is centrally located, near to Chinatown and offers a...

Only spent one night in this hostel as it was so busy and a bit crowded. On the up side though its located pretty well in adelaide with lots of cheap takeaways nearby to save cooking. The bar was relatively cheap for a hostel and it had a free pool table which helped pass sometime until we left for the...

Room was an ok size but very dirty, bathrooms were even worse - flip flops definitely needed. Staff definitely think that they are better than the guests, took ages to get a beer at the bar as they stood talking to there friends or on Facebook. Location is ok, 10 minute walk into town and next door to dominos for...

This was a lovely, friendly place to stay. It is a little rough around the edges but nevertheless it was a great base for exploring Adelaide. I loved BBQ night - a great opportunity to meet other travellers!

Be smart and don't just got for a hostel with the lowest rate - you get what you pay for! Are you looking for a hostel where you feel welcome to relax and just hang out if you want a break? Where there are activities so you can meet people and make new friends? Where you don't feel as though you are putting your hand in your pocket every 5 minutes? Where the staff are happy to give you free advice about what to do in Adelaide (not just sell you an expensive tour)? Backpack Oz is a family owned and operated business that enjoys a great reputation - and not just because of the free Tuesday night BBQ dinner and daily Happy Hour ($3.50 beers)! All rooms and common areas have A/C, and kitchens and bathrooms are cleaned daily (and we mean really clean - check the ratings)! We have a fantastic city location - walk to cafe/pub districts, Central Market and CBD! Our free WiFi is super fast and we have a light & bright dining & common room with big screen TV. Free pick ups and drop offs to bus and train stations are available (not airport and conditions apply). Our staff are super well trained and really want you to enjoy your stay and make the most of Adelaide! We hope you choose to stay with us and leave with fond memories of both Adelaide and Backpack Oz. Cheers! Sam, Penny & Tom Twelftree *Reception is open from 6.00am till 10.00pm. You must check in prior to 10.00pm or we can not accept your booking. ... more   less
