Saw this on TripAdvisor before planning the trip but didn't book. When we got to town we drove through and saw the sign and checked the place out- sure glad we did! What a little gem. Very reasonably priced compared to some places in town offering underground rooms. Very friendly and helpful service and with good local knowledge (which restaurants...

We are currently travelling in our caravan throughout Australia for 7 months. On our bucket list, and on many international travelers lists to stay in a underground Motel. Driving around the area we came across several, one being the Underground Motel. What a great discovery, a small motel 9 rooms. Sitting out side for breakfast has great views overlooking the...

There are plenty of underground motels in Coober Pedy, but this one is a little gem. My wife and I stayed there twice, coming to and from Uluru, and each time the owner Mike made us feel like we weren't checking into a motel, but were arriving home. The rooms were spacious, impeccably clean, and there's a great kitchen where...

Don't tell anyone how good it is, or there will be no room for us next time. Out of all the places to stay and relax, this is the best and the friendliest. We stayed in a self contained cave down the hill with magnificent private views over "the breakaways" The proof is in the tasting!

From reviews from some friends that have stayed in the cheaper accommodation in town we decided it was worth paying a little more ($125 instead of $85). It was worth every penny. Really nice hostess, the rooms are immaculate, the toilets and common kitchen are like new out of a catalogue. The location is up on a hill just beside...

The Underground Motel was a great break up for the Adelaide to Alice Springs run. Its an experience in itself sleeping inside the results of machinery cutting into rockface and that would of been enough. Topped with friendly service from Mike and Mercee who helped sort dinner from a local restaurant. While the decor may be dated, it falls within...

Chose on recommendation from a colleague, stayed there for several weeks during work contract. The owner and staff are friendliest, most helpful and kind people I have ever met in any hotel/motel I have ever stayed at. The rooms are spotlessly clean and maintained. They did my washing every day, the breakfast supplied in the room gave ample amount and...

The most friendly ,very quiet, and they made you feel at home. There is a good view down over the town, not to fare to walk to most things in Coober Pedy. It is a good look at staying in an underground room ,if you have not done that before.

My family and I stayed here for a night and what a fabulously clean and unique place. We were greeted by lovely friendly people and made to feel very welcome. Rooms and facilities are extremely clean and spacious. A continental Breakfast was offered with adequate choice of toast and cereals. Tea and coffee is available or you can purchase a...
