The Moss had been recommended to us by friends and it didn’t disappoint. It is perfectly located near the waterfront and the market and is near many cafes and restaurants. The bedroom was large and well appointed and the bathroom was excellent too. The parking arrangements were also very convenient. The Moss doesn’t have a restaurant, but that didn’t matter.

Just the one night staying here on a work trip. Really nice hotel right in the city in Salamanca, perfect location nice and close to restaurants and bars. Room itself was very nicely set up, comfy stay. Easy to book, check in and parking nearby too. Will definitely stay here again.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Hobart last weekend at Moss Hotel. I had specifically picked this hotel as it is boutique, has a strong design element, the history of the buildings and the great location, and it didn't disappoint. Our stay was in a Grove Room, in Moss 25 which had great views out over Salamanca and the Parliament House gardens. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I was pleased to see there was a built in luggage rack that could hold two suitcases along with a hanging rail above, double luggage rack seems to be a rare convenience when it comes to boutique hotel design. There was also two chairs and a side table for lounging and taking in the view. A couple of things I would have liked was, better lighting in the bathroom and room. The lighting is moody and dim, great for ambience but not practical (hard to do your make-up!) and not easy when packing your suitcase. There were also some little conveniences missing (for the price point) such as the inclusion of a continental breakfast basket, full length mirror either in the bathroom or inside the wardrobe, tissues and providing actual hand towels not just face washers. There was indoor gardening works going on outside our room (Room #13), it was a little off-putting that all the empty pots and work materials (along with two arm chairs) were piled up near the door of our room, I would suggest you tuck this away from guest view. For any travellers staying on Friday and Saturday night in a front facing room you will need to keep in mind there will be some noise from the patrons from the bar below (the old windows have new windows built in front which reduces the street noise but not from the screaming drunk man at 2.00am unfortunately!!). All in all we had a great time in Hobart and loved staying at Moss Hobart, we were blessed with some great Autumn weather which made our stay just that little bit better.

Hi Kellie, thanks for your informed and comprehensive review which is much appreciated. We have taken your comments on board and will action those which we can to make improvements to future guest experiences. We're pleased to report that the wilderness gardens have been restored to their former glory and the soil and other materials removed from the small seating area. Space, unfortunately didn't allow us to locate them elsewhere at the time of short maintenance period. The MOSS Team.
