We have booked 3 nights in the Rydges north Hobart over NYE. On the website it shows photos of newly renovated rooms, we arrived to find we are staying in a room with very dated decor, a smell of damp and a bathroom with cracked tiles, dirt and mould in the grout. A bar fridge that leaks and an overall...

Dear Tim, I am unfortunately going to have to correct your here. No images of new hotel rooms or the like are on the website, this is 100% accurate. Room description have not yet been confirmed and added to the website either. The rooms are older and yes they are being refurbished. We have 9 completed and just about to...

We were lucky enough to get accommodation between Christmas and New Year in Hobart !! Rydges was as expected and priced accordingly!! While it is older and in need of some care it is still comfortable and has all you need. Very close to North Hobart restaurant area . Our room leaked a little through heavy rain but comfortably slept...

Dear Warren, thank you for the honest review of the hotel, it would seem that your stay was satisfactory but I know when the rooms are all renovated and your dollar spend is reviewed I am sure you will continue to see value here and we all look forward to our return in the near future. If their is anything...

We had booked here hoping it would live upto its name. We were pit into the older rooms which may nit have seen any cleaning or renovation since 1914. The carpets were dirty, the bed was old and the linen were not fresh, the pillows were flat, the main bedroom was in a dingy dark room with a window that...

Built in 1914 as a school for the visually and hearing impaired, it has been converted into a lovely hotel with deep wood paneling and lovely antiques. The hotel rooms are currently being refurbished (to be completed in May). We stayed in one of these rooms. It was light and airy with high ceilings and had seating area, bar area,...

Dear Julie and Pete, thank for your review of the hotel. Our refurbishment will be tackling the holder elements of the hotel and this is good news for everyone. It a shame you wont be wanting to come back to see the finished rooms. We today just completed 9 and its looking great, always some soft items to be addressed...

The old blind school converted into a hotel with new additions. The room was well equipped with a comfy bed that you just sank into. The wifi was fast and reliable, the shower had a strong stream of water, and the service was excellent. Great staff, and beautiful view of North Hobart Oval and beyond. The location is a medium...

As many have recently said the Rydges is starting to show its age, but at 116$ member rate for a Friday night, 10 mins walk to the Nth Hobart restaurant strip, it does offer good value. The rooms have not been updated for years. However they are large, bedroom, kitchenette, lounge with tv and bathroom. Bed was comfortable, shower was...

Dear Values Guest and thanks you for explaining the benefits of being a Rydges Priority Guest Reward member PGR. Best Rates on Line! Yes were old but not for long.... The rooms are like stepping into an 1800's Boarding School. No air conditioning. Extremely old furniture. The only thing this place has going for it is the way it is presented as you drive down the driveway into the car park.

Dear Mr Blake, As mentioned before when you made the booking it state the make up of the room and the amenities. Dear Anthony C, We here your comments and yes this is why our rooms are being refurbished. I would not comment on the fountain side position on one of Hobart busiest roundabout. I had high expectations of a Rydges hotel. Oh boy, was I disappointed. Walking into our room was like time travelling back to 1970. The room looked and smelled like an old lady had died in there, and was possibly still there, shoved into the murphy bed, along with several dead moths and bugs, in the lounge area. The curtains...
