Customs House Waterfront Hotel, built in 1846, has been owned by the Jubb family since 1992. The Jubb’s are 5th generation hoteliers with owners Paul and Karen managing the hotel alongside their children Robert and Emily. Located 2 minutes walk from the Salamanca Markets, Brooke St Pier, Constitution Dock, Pennicott’s Tours, the ferry to MONA Museum and Hobart’s shopping precinct, we have the perfect location for your Waterfront getaway in Hobart. Customs House Hotel is an icon in Hobart. Built in 1846 for one of the early settlers, Charles Gaylor, whose name is carved into the front copping stone, it was named after Customs House (now Parliament House) next door. Affectionately called the “Chop House” it was, and still is, known for a good meal and a soothing ale. We offer 30 warm and charming accommodation rooms upstairs. All recently renovated with new bathrooms and furnishings, the rooms offer a touch of modern in a historic setting.

Having been here before we suggest to our travelling companions to go here for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Fast and Friendly Service, great food and the young guy serving was very accomodating.

Couldn’t have wanted a better location. Walk to city centre, Salamanca Place, Battery Pt... restaurants etc. Room was small... spotless and refurbished. The hotel underneath was great. Pub food excellent.... breakfast was brilliant. Staff friendly and helpful. Laundry was a bonus.

Stopped in for a quick lunch after a river cruise, the bar menu was fabulous, the food delicious, there was limited seating with most seats being stools which doesn't work for older customers. There is also a dining room but the menu is much pricier.

Had a long weekend here with a group of friends and it ticked all the boxes. Great location, great food, great service. Rooms small and nothing to get excited about but clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Loved Customs House, we ended up having 3 meals there, lunch and dinner, really nice menu/wine list and good service. Sitting outside was beautiful over looking the wharf, just near the Salamanca Markets. Highly recommend having a meal here, they also offer accommodation upstairs.
