Very handy to restaurants, wharf etc. The slanted ceiling in the bedroom is a real hazard. Don’t be fooled by the photos there is no balcony. Very clean and staff are extremely helpful. Quiet location.

We stayed in a loft apartment. The room was spacious but the low ceiling is a major constraint on how you move about these types of rooms. The severely raked roof constrains one side of the bed and the bathroom. To use the mirror in the bathroom you need to bend over to see your reflection. Although i was keenly aware of the raked ceiling I hit my head a number of times. From the marks and abrasions on the paintwork it is obvious that this is a common occurrence. Apart from that we were quite comfortable. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. Our advice is to be well aware of what the constraints are before you book the loft rooms. As other reviewers have noted there is also no 24hr Reception service. To some extent the room reminded me more of an Air B&B rental than a hotel. One other point to note is the parking “stack” which locks cars into wire cages and stores them vertically. We were advised that our Outlander SUV, which is not large, was the maximum size vehicle that would fit in the stack. We later met some guests who were checking-in after reception had closed and they were trying to work out the parking arrangements. We told them there was no way their large 4-wheel drive would fit. They had to find alternative parking on the street. So parking is another issue to be aware of.

You would struggle to get a better located hotel in Hobart than Salamanca Wharf. 2 minutes from the markets, Battery Point up the stairs behind you, and the waterfront and city all within 10 minutes. Rooms are big and bright and there’s everything you need for a long stay, including a fully equipped kitchen and washer/dryer. The car stacker was great to use, and once explained a simple task, and so good to be able to just leave the car there for free and walk the city. There’s a café in the foyer, but we preferred The Creamery a few doors up, which had awesome coffee and pastries. Service here was friendly and helpful, though the front desk was not staffed for much of the week. There’s a superb, though pricey grocery story in Salamanca nearby. Rooms were super quiet, and the bathroom was big and clean. The one gripe is the almost total lack of closet space. There was a single, minuscule area for hanging clothes, which could only be reached by a basketballer with long arms – very bizarre. Highly recommended for a longer stay with great access to everything you need.

There is something about a large tub in a hotel room that always catches my attention and the penthouse lofts at Salamanca Wharf Hotel have one hell of a tub! I would have loved to spend hours in there had we not been short on time. Apart from the tub the rooms are very spacious, very well maintained and cleaned and have some great additional features such as the kitchenette, coffee pod machine, washing machine and wifi. The room is more like an apartment than a hotel room. The king size bed was soft and the linens high quality - and the room came with robes. As for location, if you are spending time in Salamanca or the CBD - this has to be perfectly located. Just a short stroll from your doorstep and you are at the whisky bar or shopping at the Salamanca Markets. There is an after hours service that allows for contactless check in and check out that meant we never even interacted with a staff member. I actually appreciated this in COVID times and found the process well instructed and easy to follow. There is street parking at the doorstep - as well as a free car stacker car park - we found it easy to park on the street in a free space until 1030am the next morning. Highly recommend this place - was my second visit and loved it again!
