John makes you feel welcome. Cosy 1910 building with lots of character. Close walking distance to town. Warm comfortable beds with all the amenities at hand. Will stay again when visiting Hobart. Preferably in summer. Happy visitor.

Had a lovely stay here with our 3yr old daughter. Very comfy, clean and thoughtfully laid out rooms with plenty of space. Great breakfast area, well equipped and yummy. John is a wonderful host, and made us feel welcome and relaxed, as well as letting us know things that were going on. A great place to stay.

I am shocked to see the poor rating for this place! It has just recently changed hands and these must be from before new management. My stay here was fantastic. Its a beautiful manour house, well furnished in the style and very clean - a perfect retreat to arrive at after a weeks outdoor camping. John the new owner clearly...

Unless the AUD takes another plunge, accommodation in Australian cities always is expensive. On the whole, the further out from the CBD you hike, the cheaper. An exception to this is the Edinburgh. It is a relatively inexpensive B & B and small at that. But a six block walk takes you to Salamanca Place (the restaurants & Saturday market),...

The bathroom was so small we undressed and dressed outside it. The floor boards under the toilet were rotten. There was a hole in the wall that was stuffed with toilet paper to stop the wind blowing through. The bathroom was on a lean as was the back "bedroom" floor. Even the bed had to be packed up to be...

Although I had been warned by my friend that this place had poor reviews, I took a chance. All seemed satisfactory on arrival. All I need is a CLEAN bed and a decent shower. I could even overlook the very basic breakfast bar. Climbing to bed at 11:00pm, the bedding felt wrinkled and on inspection the bed had been very...

This is more of a hostel than a B&B, though I've stayed in better hostels. It's a lovely old house with lots of potential, but is sadly neglected and needs a good clean. Our room had plaster falling off the walls, the windows and blinds were filthy and I really wanted to leave but we had prepaid in advance. The...

Actual room was very spacious, nice decor, had own private en-suite which was more than suitable. Continental breakfast was simply boxes of cereal and loaves of bread with spreads sitting in kitchen, coffee, tea and juice - although states it is to be "served" from 8-10am, it is help yourself and other guests are there making noise much earlier (from...

Ok this is not a five star place but certainly doesnt deserve a bad rap? This building is old and would require a good clean or update but other than that the linen was clean and bathroom clean which is most important to travellers. Not the easiest place to find as it is on a corner and the numbers go...
