I'll start with the good points- the free pasta night and pancakes on Sunday are great. There's free cereal and toast every morning. They provide free tea and coffee. The wifi was good most of the time I used it. The location is really good. That's where the good points end- the cleanliness of the hostel was not great, particularly...

Overall, experience was fine. The hostel is filled with A LOT of people staying there long term, people are just a little too comfortable here. It is in the middle of the CBD, so very loud - the blinds are broken in the room was stayed in and the window was also cracked which made for many sleepless nights as...

It was the worst hostel I stayed in during my 3 weeks in Australia. Cleanness is a real issue here. The room was not cleaned once during our stay. There was so much dust on the floor that I decided to keep everything on the bed. But a real problem was the bathroom and the kitchen. They were both disgusting....

I had to switch rooms to accommodate me needing to extend my booking, that's fine I understand that. The showers weren't overly clean, the kitchen was very crowded with long term guests taking up almost all of the fridge space so I couldn't keep anything in there. The staff were friendly though, the wifi works in the reception only so...

Worst hostel I have ever stayed in (have travelled whole of Aus in hostels and Asia!). Room was disgustingly dirty! Staff on reception (Luke) was rude and extremely patronising throughout the whole stay! Complained about the condition of the room the response I got was the hostel was that I had to appreciate how busy so the cleaner had to...

Slow internet! way too many people on it. Everything here is very basic. Beds are not very comfortable and the place does not have any charm. Location is Okay. Right in the Melbourne CBD and that's good.

This place is awesome! Extremely friendly staff, clean, FREE luggage storage once you sign out, flexibility and trust from the staff, flexible cancellation/date adjustment, free pancake day, free pasta day and really cheap prices. You can tell when you go somewhere and the hostel is just trying to 'get by'. It is not the case here-everyone is extremely helpful and...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
