Stayed here for a few nights in a double private room with balcony. The balcony overlooked the busy street below so very noisy, even when doors closed. Thought I would have used balcony to read/write postcards but two chairs on balcony were grubby so had to wipe them down first. And there wasn't a table on the balcony although indicated...

We stayed for 1 night in a double room. The room was bright, comfy with ample space. The bathrooms were just a short way along the corridor, with good facilities, well kept and very clean. The hostel itself is just a short walk to the bus station and the rail station. We travelled by bus and the walk from the...

I stayed in the 4xfemale room as backpacker , room is clean and comfy, managed to rest well despite of sharing with few others strangers. Kitchen is descent size and handy. Booked a tour via the booklet to Ocean road with pickup from hostel was quite convenient too. Overall I enjoyed the staybp being the first timer to Australia

Pros -really clean bathrooms with lots of shelving and benches for putting down your stuff. Showers and toilets have real doors for extra privacy -really close to southern cross station -large, secure lockers in the rooms Cons -can be a bit noisy with street traffic -rooms were dark and reminded me of a prison cell. Beds were really creaky, be...

Came to yha Melbourne after Sydney Central yha and it wasn't as good in a few aspects. Firstly it is in a great location, you get the red bus from Tullermarine to South Central station and then it's a 5min walk max. And you are a 10min walk to the main shopping streets, riverside bars/restaurants and flinders st station. The...

The hostel is centrally located: 5 minutes walk to southern cross station and supermarket, and right in front of it there is a tram stop which a free city circle tram stops by regularly. If you want to use public transport to explore the city and its suburbs make sure you check out the reception to see if they have...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
