Well this was certainly the most impressive building architecturally that we stayed in during our 3 month travels of Austalia. We found the Mansion place to be slightly out of town, but with great tram links taking under 5 minutes to get you into the centre. We rented a private double room here, which was fairly tiny but well priced...

There are a lot of holiday work visa folks living here, which I wasn't really a fan of, also just cuz you put a sheet around your bed like a screen don't mean I can't hear you. The hostel is pretty clean, the kitchen is a bit small, but there are lots of bathrooms, great location, and the staff at...

The old mansion house is the best hostel we've stayed in in Melbourne. Everyone's really friendly and the kitchen area is really clean. There's an area to watch tv and a separate area to play on the PlayStation. It's a good location, close to Brunswick street where there are lots of good restaurants and bars. Also the hostel is the...

With all of the great reviews of this place, I was hoping for an amazing experience. I was sorely disappointed. First the positives: clean bathrooms, private shower rooms, good luggage storage, convenient location off free tram stop. And the negatives: slow wifi, minimal/small common areas, rooms get quite hot in the summer. Additionally, the building has seen better days. Overall...

Stayed at this place for a week and it is awesome! Very accommodating considering I've got medication that needs to be stored in a specific way, nothing was too much hassle. Met some great people and the best thing is it is SPOTLESS! Will be going back very soon!

Plus - On arrival staff were friendly. I quite liked the showers which are one single room each so good privacy and the water flow is nice. There is a free city loop tram that stops around the corner which is very handy. Negatives - My room was between the recepton and kitchen and the radio is left blaring all...

This hostel is one of it's kind, I spent one month there and still nostalgic about how great it was. The building itself is quite old, but cosy and clean, facilities are good, the staff is really friendly. The most important for me was a great traveller's atmosphere. It's not a party hostel, but it has a bar (so no...

Very unfriendly backpackers here and the double room was very small. The location isn't great but is accessible to the CBD via tram. The staff were quite friendly. The wifi isn't very good but the computers can be used next to reception. The building looks very large from the front elevation but in reality it stretches length ways and not...

We had a double room which was good with a TV and fan. There were plenty of bathrooms on each floor which were always clean. The kitchen / dining area was ok - good utensils / facilities, but it's quite small considering the number of guests staying at the hostel. There were lots of large laundry rooms which were empty,...

I stayed here for 5 nights in October/November. 1 night solo, 4 with a friend. We had a great time here. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful staff. I felt very comfortable here, it's very homely and we always felt safe, clean and comfortable. Good walking distance to the main shops/bars/attractions etc. Free tea and coffee is great. We arranged a great...
