Experience the vibrancy and eclectic culture for which Melbourne is renowned with central accommodation near Melbourne CBD. Standing out from the sea of high rises in Melbourne, the Crowne Plaza Melbourne's curved shape gives a hint at the architectural features and sense of open space that will make your stay an experience to remember. Crowne Plaza Melbourne is absolute riverfront, located in a premium position - across from Melbourne's Casino, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) and only steps away from the restaurants and bars of the South Wharf precinct and Melbourne CBD. On the doorstep to Melbourne's tram network, the hotel is also located within the free-tram zone, making it easy for guests to move around the city. The hotel's recent refurbishment sits within the architectural facade that is so recognised along the Yarra River, standing proud as one of Melbourne's largest single accommodation towers with 432 rooms and suites. The transformation showcases a suite of brand new guest facilities including a re-imagined rooftop pool with designer cabanas, along with a wellness centre filled with natural light overlooking the Atrium complete with state-of-the-art TechnoGym fitness equipment and floor space for the aspiring yogi. Redefining hotel dining, guests can escape the ordinary and enjoy an elevated culinary experience rooted in storytelling at Yugo Melbourne. With a menu curated by Chef Matthew Butcher, dining at Yugo brings something new to the plate. The menu is a manifestation of a tailored mix of Asian flavours developed with French techniques. On Sundays, enjoy a Yum Cha lunch with trolleys specifically designed for the venue as was the Cube – Yugo’s private dining room; a glass box that frosts at the touch of a button allowing for a completely immersive experience. Dive Bar evokes the old-school dive bars of New York’s East Village. Dimly-lit and layered with neon, it’s the place to socialize and play into the late night and to dance to your favourite tunes on the guest-controlled juke box. Finally, the eco and health-conscious cafe Pow Wow offers a California-inspired design that’s fresh and bright, and a vibe that’s relaxed and cosy. Here, guests will find the perfect cup of Melbourne coffee before heading out for the day. Yugo // Dinner: Tuesday to Saturday 6pm – 11pm. Lunch: Sunday 12pm – 4pm Dive Bar // Daily: From 4pm Pow Wow // Daly: From 7am

Stayed for 3 nights in a King River View room. Lovely room with a beautiful view and very comfortable king size bed. King bed was great but for $288 per night you would think they could afford sheets that actually fit. Sheets wouldn’t tuck in the end of the bed as they weren’t long enough and barely tucked in at the sides so as soon as you moved they were untucked. I know this may seem like a small issue but very frustrating having to remake the bed constantly. The mattress protected also had broken straps so bunched up with the sheets. Something that could easily be fixed. $60 per night for valet parking and they park your car in the same public car park that costs you $17 per exit or out the front of the hotel in their driveway. We payed the $17. Great shower but water runs out all over the floor and wets the bath mat. Shelf in the fridge wouldn’t even fit in the fridge because you can’t open the door wide enough to get it in. The side of the fridge was damaged where a previous guest tried to get it in. I put in a request for an upgrade to this room type with an extra cost of $52 a night if available. When we checked in I was told that “we have been able to provide you with a complimentary upgrade to a River View room”. I thought great how nice. Then he said “oh I see you asked for an upgrade to the River Room so there will be an extra charge of $52 a night”! I questioned it and he said he would need to speak to his manager and we will sort it out for checkout. We go to checkout and what a surprise no one knew anything about it so I had to pay the extra money. These things are all basic things that could be fixed and would make this hotel perfect.

Everything about the Crowne Plaza is fantastic. We arrived early and had no trouble leaving our luggage with the super friendly concierge staff. A short stroll and we were in Southbank restaurant precinct in one direction and DFO in the other. We were attending AFL game at Marvel Stadium, which we walked to (aprox 15 min walk). On our return late afternoon the check in was seamless and quick, our luggage had already been placed in our room. Room was spacious and had large window with spectacular view across the river, large comfortable bed, excellent newly renovated bathroom with plenty of room. Great vibe in bar for happy hour with fab music from a juke box, neon lighting, groovy pool table for a free game of pool, comfy velvet seated booths and we could even watch the AFL on TV. The bar staff were friendly and seemed to be enjoying serving their customers which was just great. Will definitely stay here next time in Melbourne because of great location and excellent facilities available at the hotel. Make sure you join their Rewards program, they treat you like royalty and make you feel special. Thank you team Crowne Plaza, I'll see you again soon!

We stayed on level 5 with a great view of Jeff's shed. Panoramic window, room very clean, modern and spacious. King bed and very comfortable. Service excellent. Great location, easy to walk the length of Southbank and then along the north bank back to the hotel. The only negative is the breakfast. Cost of $70 for two. It was very poor and would not recommend it. Food was served by 'chefs' and couldnt choose how much or little you wanted. Food cold. Coffee was self serve with only one station in another area and looked like dishwater. No tea pots for tea, just tea bags.

I was attending a conference at MCEC and the location was perfect. Small room but adequate for my needs. Spotlessly clean, comfy bed and pillows, excellent room service ( food hot and delicious) and friendly staff. Small point - they do need to buy some larger bath robes as I wear a ladies size 14 -16 and bath robe wouldn’t even meet in the middle.

The first trip back to the hotel post Covid and renovations and it was good! I loved the new Dive Bar, Hukkan (spelling??) is very helpful and friendly, great bar manager to have on deck! Easy check-in and helpful concierge on arrival and throughout. I had to check boxes into the concierge and they were very helpful sorting this out for me and getting them picked up when a courier arrived, thanks! The rooms are clean, refreshed and renovated, comfortable and if you get a Yarra River view, theres always something happening out your window. The rooms are quiet from any outside noise, so a good sleep is on the cards. Breakfast at the buffet was poor, cold food the first time i had it, which talking to others in the hotel said the same thing. I did make a note to the manager and he is working on fixing this, so hopefully things will change. Ordered room service to the room, breakfast, and this was delivered cold, disappointing, but also made them aware of this, and perhaps it will be looked in as well. Coffee shop on the Lobby level is very bright and casual dining for coffee, or even a beer as they are licenses. secluded seating as well which is rather private for business meetings which was handy as well. Nice friendly staff and helpful the few visits i made. Overall it was a nice spot to stay, breakfast buffet needs some work, but the facilities are on point, good location for Crown and other places to eat nearby, tram on the door step, and ubers are never far away. Check-out on the TV would be a handy option to have in the future like most hotels these days, saves long waits in the lobby when departing. Also no chrome cast to be able to push Netflix or other apps from your phone which is becoming standard. Overall a good stay, nice to see things have been updated, happy to stay again sometime soon! Thanks!
