My partner booked this hotel for my birthday, he paid $240 for the night for a room and we were both very disappointed... the staff were friendly but the room itself was smaller than my bedroom at home had dingy furniture and paint!!! The bathroom was dirty and smaller than a walk in robe...He also had requested an extra special...

I wasn't expecting much, given it was $117 a night in the middle of the city, but was very impressed. The location was excellent, just down the laneway from the mall where DJs and Myer is and very close to trams and restaurants. The bed was really comfortable, the shower was lovely (although the bathroom itself was fairly small and...

Stayed 3 nights here room was very small with small beds but was clean. Continental breakfast was included in the room cost which was ok. Good location but needs a major makeover. There was a noise issue as you could hear people in the adjoining rooms and the corridor.

Chose this hotel because of the location. The price was only just over $100 a night so for those reasonsI expected the place to be the pits but the bed was comfy and the room was clean and the sheets were very nice quality. -the continental breakfast was pretty nice, fresh fruit, toast, coffee and pastries and free daily newspapers....

I had a Queen sized room on the 7th floor with a wonderful view of the decorative 19th century clock nearby. The hotel's location on a car free shopping mall meant it was easy to get around and to the many nearby trams. Endless eateries of every type are close by. A few blocks and you are at the train...

My husband and I spent four nights at the Causeway Inn on the Mall. I would stay at the hotel again and recommend it to others. The staff were all very friendly and the rooms were clean. The location was great and it was very easy to get around the city from this location. We didn't have the breakfast included...

Stayed here for just a couple of nights before moving on to a family apartment. Rooms were clean and functional with very comfy large beds. Situated within the Central Business District so ideal location for shopping and sight seeing. Simple breakfast provided but no evening meals. This is not a problem as there are so many local eateries to chose...

Great stay, fabulous location. Good breakfast with a small selection. As other reviewers said, windows all need cleaning. We were in room 214 which was in a strange place but a decent sized room and only 1 lift to catch. Nice and quiet at night surprisingly seeing as we were so low down. Only got woken in the morning by...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
