The swanston Hotel is ideally located in central melbourne and is close to shopping and easy access to the MCG and Tennis centre for concerts etc. It is easy to get to with Valet parking available. We stay at this hotel on a regular basis with trips to melbourne and never been disappointed in our stay. The location and value...

A great, well located hotel that was really good value. We had 2 adults (not in a relationship) in a nice room with 2 double beds for a long weekend. Enough room for both, including suitcases. Very clean. Well serviced. View was basically other buildings. Pool was great, and very relaxing. Paid extra for breakfasts every morning in the adjoining...

Very nice location and excellent facilities. Walls must be paper thin though as could hear pretty much everything that was happening in both adjacent rooms. Superb location right near the mall and Haighs chocolate shop in foyer.

Location, location, location... The Swanston Hotel, Grand Mercure is situated right in the centre of the CBD, with tourist sites and activities either at your door stop or a stone throw away! From reception to room service all of the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, being able to store my luggage whilst being out for the day without any...

This hotel was in a good location and value for money for our superior room. The bed was comfortable and plenty of space in the room as we were travelling with another couple, and looked to socialise after a days shopping. Not easy to find parking tho with a rental car and dropping off luggage before returning vehicle.

My husband and I decided on a short visit to Melbourne to catch up with family and friends and was recommended this hotel for our 4 night stay. We caught the SkyBus (at 8.30pm) from the airport (which is a great service), however we had to be dropped about a block up the road from the hotel because the street...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
